I am very new to hot yoga, but have had nothing short of an amazing experience here at Bikram Yoga Rockville. The teachers are incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and sincere. They remember you by name and work extremely hard to make sure each yogi feels welcomed and supported. The class offerings are perfect timing for working professionals and the location is convenient and extremely clean. I honestly wasn't sure how I'd feel about sweating in 105 degrees for an hour, but it has been a transformative and life changing experience. I feel more confident, peaceful, and overall my mood is much more even. I find myself going as much as possible and relishing in the heated classroom. I have never walked away from classes feeling so rejuvenated after working so hard and each little improvement to my postures makes me feel over the moon. I want to sincerely thank Bikram Yoga Rockville for inviting me into the community and becoming a truly integral part of my well-being. I remember sitting down during class because I just was not used to the heat and she insisted I leave the classroom to sit down because otherwise I would pass out. This was my first time ever trying hot yoga and the staff was extremely warm (pun intended) and welcoming. The studio was spacious and clean with ample locker room and shower space for before and after care. Plans are also flexible with daily, weekly, and monthly pricing. I have done yoga on and off for a number of years, so I felt comfortable with the poses and vinyasas, but I was nervous about how my body would handle the 100 degrees F + heat. My instructor Christina M understood my concern and made it clear that it was perfectly acceptable to take breaks outside if needed. Through her detailed instruction and my pacing myself and breathing, I made it through and survived! That night I felt relaxed, loose, and void of the bloat I'd been carrying around with me for a few days. came to this studio once. The second class I missed due to a work emergency. I received a call from a employee named Jen who proceeded to verbally berate me, my work, yelled at a very high voice to the point where she was stumbling over her words, and refused to allow me to explain the situation. She then berated my work and called my entire profession toxic. She then told me what I had done and how I had booked the classes, which was wholly inaccurate. She proceeded to continue to talk over me and yell. I then told her to kindly cancel my future classes and that I would never visit their studio again. I ended the call and she proceeded to call me back after the call was ended. I have never ever dealt with such abuse. I'm absolutely gobsmacked and traumatized by this experience. Let me give it to you straight. I suck at exercising. It's all good because being terrible at something gives me an opportunity to improve. Woot! So on my way to hot yoga I went to better myself. Bikram Yoga Rockville is a clean and well-equipped yoga studio located in a small shopping center with a private parking lot. When you first enter, there is a dedicated space to remove your shoes. The reception area has a coat-rack and items for purchase such as drinks and yoga equipment. There are ample cubies to store your belongings as well. The actual yoga room is decently sized and comfortably accommodated ~15-20 guests when I attended. Did not venture into the men's room lol, but the ladies' room had three restroom stalls and shower space. A hair dryer was available for use as well. There are different levels of hot yoga classes you can take. I took the beginners 60 minutes session. They also have 90 minute classes; not ready for that yet. It is recommended to bring a body towel in addition to water bottle and yoga mat to the session. The temperature is maintained around 105F. As a beginner, I sat in the back and towards the outside where it was less warm, albeit, pretty toasty still. Everyone in my class were regulars except for me and two other people. I appreciated the diversity in the attendees. Yoga is for everyone apparently! Christina M was my instructor for the evening. She's very personable and empowering. Her clear instructions helped me to focus on my movements and acknowledge my strength. Some parts were challenging but I did not feel pressured to push my body beyond the extreme. I slept very well that night. The owner and a staff member greeted my friend and I when we arrived. They were friendly and helpful. I appreciate how there are various membership plans to make hot yoga available for every budget. I loved how everyone knew everyone. It was definitely a welcoming environment. read more

The yoga poses are designed for all levels. I'm no expert but was able to keep up in class. Now let's talk about the heat. It's intense! They were not joking about the room being set at 105 degrees. Coming here has changed my life. Everything about this place is amazing. It doesn't matter the mood you're in during the day, you will always leave your class calm, collected and rejuvenated. All the staff here are extremely friendly and encouraging. The best part is, there is no judgment! If an instructor pushes you into a pose that you are not ready for - without asking if you want help or asking if it's okay to touch you - and you suffer an injury because of it, the staff will not accept responsibility for it and will blame you. I was invited by a friend of mine to try this. He provided me tips on how to come prepared. Drink plenty of water the day before and the day itself, bring mat and yoga towel, bring water (icewater makes it more refreshing). I got the 35usd for two weeks commitment after my first session ended. Although this studio is quite far from where i live, i tried to come as often. The instructors are all very ery friendly and most of them address you by your name. They would make constant effort to ask if there is anyone new in their class. The place is clean as you would have to go inside barefoot. They take good care of the studio and treated everyone with warmth and hospitality. read more

I wasn't sure if I will like the studio atmosphere, so I tried the 2 weeks new student special ($35 for unlimited classes for 2 weeks, there's also a groupon for $79 for unlimited classes for a month. MUST be a new student). I absolutely loved it! The studio is clean, instructors are caring and motivating!! After my 2 weeks trial, I purchased the $99/month special 4 months commitment. I have only done yoga 1 time before and have never ever done hot yoga so i was a bit nervous about the whole experience. That all went away when I called the studio and spoke with a woman named Diana who was very helpful and knowledgeable about what to do before class. She told me what to bring and gave me healthy tips and suggestions so I could have the best experience possible! I attended my very first class today at 9:30am and as soon as I walked into the studio I noticed how very clean, calm, and relaxing the entire environment felt. Shoes off at the front, a nice clean and organized desk for check in and that is where I met my instructor for the class Maggie who is soooo awesome! She was very kind and helpful throughout the class even helping me hands on with some of the positions (because I had no idea what I was doing) and she made me feel perfectly comfortable and relaxed! And last shout out I give to is Morgan a young woman who works hard there helping clean and keep the place organized, and as I stated before everything is awesome. The wonderful instructors at the studio teach who they are- they expect you to be the best you can be on and off your yoga mat, they invite you to remember your compassion and self-care during your practice. Some of the poses are challenging, but they are generous with their compliments and corrections so that you achieve the perfect alignment. They are humble, kind, patient, and very knowledgeable, and always open to answering any questions you might have. There are a variety of different classes, ranging from your traditional ninety minute Bikram hot yoga and flow classes, to several sixty minute Bikram classes for moms like myself who just prefer to know they have given it all or not. My main goal in attending this studio is keeping it light and fun and with the encouragement of all the other yogis in attendance and the gentle encouraging push from the instructors, I find myself growing deeper in each pose and more flexible and strong. A new studio and wonderful atmosphere. Everyone will make you feel very loved and cared for. My first day experience was beyond pleasant, second day I felt like a new person and third day I'd become addicted to yoga. I've never sweat so much before in my life! The instructors are so kind and helpful, having led me through every poses and kept my mind breathing and body synchronized. This is the first yoga studio I've been to and I have nothing more to say than the best of words to describe this studio. Tips: Try to get here at least 30 minutes earlier for registration. Bring a towel, yoga mat, water and/or a drink with electrolytes. If you do not have a yoga mat, forgot a towel and water, they have mats and towel rentals for 3 dollars and drinks as well. A single class is 20 dollars and they're having a 35 for 2 weeks special. The general fees, however, to me, are pricey since I am a broke college student and yoga is a rather high class form of exercise. I'd love to keep coming here and will update after my first two week. read more

This studio is amazing! I started doing Bikram Yoga in 2013 and immediately felt a change in my body and health. Fast forward to this year: two kids, a divorce, and severe depression. I started up my bikram practice again and it has been an essential component of my healing. Honestly I would be physically and mentally unwell without my yoga practice. I've been to several different hot yoga studios in my life, and Bikram Yoga Rockville is one of the best. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the facilities are sparkling clean, and the community is strong and supportive. We are led by studio owner Diana, who encourages us, makes us laugh, helps us to grow as yogis and people, and plans innovative events like outdoor yoga in lavender fields and holiday hikes. I also love that there is the option to take flow classes in a hot room. Last night was my first time doing hot yoga and I had a great time. The instructor, Diana, was super nice and new every one by name. She does tell you what to fix if she sees something wrong or she gives the proper accolades. I've done yoga before and flexibility comes pretty natural to me so although I didn't fully know the movements it wasn't hard to keep up. Also, it wasn't as hot as I expected. The fans did go on half way through and since I am new I am not sure if this is standard. I've spent many nights at spa world which has an array of different sauna's at different temperatures, some going up to 195 degrees so perhaps that's why I didn't find the 109 degrees bothersome. However, I did get an AMAZING sweat on. I've been having trouble with workouts and this was a great change of pace. I was literally drenched by the time I left. I signed up for the unlimited 2 weeks so I look forward to returning and hopefully my balance and posture will improve. Give this place a try! read more

The class itself was ok. I found the flow to be disjointed at times. I didn't like how the instructor called women "dear" and men "boss"-- I found it a patronizing to be called dear. They also try to insist that you need an electrolyte drink for the class, which would be fine except that they charge $3 for a bottle of vitamin water. I said I was fine with my water I brought, and they kept trying to tell me I should buy more. Seriously, don't tell me what to do, especially if you're going to nickel and dime me for it. They also have a sign saying that you're supposed to pay $1 to refill your bottle at the water fountain- this is CRAZY. And a sign in the bathroom that if you over-use the hand-dryer and break it, you will owe them $700 to fix the motor. In my opinion, this came across as cheap and unfriendly. read more

I have been to several Bikram studios in VA and MD over the years, and by far this one is my favorite. There is a genuine sense of community that is felt by those who attend class here, evidenced by the many students who have been coming in to sweat for 10 years or more. Everyone is greeted by name, and made to feel welcome. I love that there are both 60 and 90 minute options available, as well as Flow when you are looking to change it up a bit (like during a 30 day challenge!). The instructors are patient, knowledgeable, and motivating without being too preachy or militant like I've experienced in some other studios. I also enjoy that every now and then some core exercises are thrown in, in addition to the normal 26/2 practice. The space (room, showers, hallway) is CLEAN, thanks to the numerous cleaning staff that work very hard to keep it that way after every. single. class. The hot room floor is made from a special kind of material that is super comfortable to stand and lay on, and does not smell, as opposed to carpet (stinky) or wooden floor (too hard). Finally, the studio organizes fun events and fundraisers to give back to the local community. I am so grateful I found this studio and am looking forward to deepening my practice even more. read more

I'm new to hot yoga & Bikram but tried a few places before making BYR my yoga home. This place is clean to start with (which I've learned is rare for hot yoga studios which often struggle with unhealthy molds and mildew) and the prices are the best in the area. The instructors are wonderful and every class is predictably thorough and challenging. I saw a complaint about someone being adjusted in a pose without permission & I have to wonder if she was referring to a different studio because I've never seen or experienced this here. Instructors are very respectful and always cognizant of limitations and injuries, continually offering modifications and cautions to those with specific issues (i.e. knee problems) that could be affected by certain poses. read more

Nothing but positivity at Bikram Yoga Rockville! For the very first time ever, I found a practice that is very easy to commit to and I truly enjoy. I've tried everything - I joined a gym, CrossFit, swimming - and nothing lasted for more than 2 months. I've been coming to BYR now for almost two years and so far, I have no plans of stopping. The owner, Diana, is nurturing, encouraging, funny, and most of all compassionate. When I requested to suspend my monthly membership and payment to care for my parents who were ill, Diana responded by suspending my payments immediately and offering me 5 free sessions which I could use for a period of two months. She then reminded me that I also needed to take care of myself and encouraged me to drop by BYR when I find the time. When things seemed bleak, Diana showed me nothing but kindness, care and understanding. So now, I'm always full of positive energy and excitement every time I go to BYR. I also appreciate all the instructors who are all so awesome! The facility is always very clean. The studio has no smell whatsoever, which I know people have been concerned and have asked me about.
