I even liked the Marinara sauce and I dont usually like Marinara. Texas Burger- Overall just a fairly generic burger, nothing stood out. Which you can make a generic burger taste great with fresh ingredients cooked well, but it wasn't that. Pickles and onion had no crunch. Kinda soggy overall. Big beef - really dry. And i got mayo, pickles, onions and horseradish. Couldn't taste any horse radish. The meat was dry. The bun was dry. It was over all very bland. Bill & Bobs is such an awesome little spot! It's an old school roast beef spot with the best sandwiches! And they're open late! I've stopped by several times after a bruins game and their sandwiches hit the spot! You can actually see them cut the roast beef after you order and take their time to prepare everything. I don't know how many locals I've asked for sandwich shop recommendations but at least half of them have told me I've "gawta try tha beef at Bill & Bob's ova in Woo-buhn". Located half a mile from my apartment and nestled right on Main Street, it's impossible to miss the big signage anytime I leave home. In fact, my eyes drifted to it every time I drove past, beckoning me to stop in and see if the hype is justified. Well, yesterday and I did and I can now confirm that yes, the hype has real merit to it. Greeted by an enthusiastic woman who could almost instantly tell I was a recent transplant to the Boston suburb, I was informed that B&B's had "been in business for 60 years, 48 of'em at this location". She offered to take my order and I suggested she order for me; I wanted to try the signature dish, the beef that kept the doors open for six decades and counting. "That would be the roast beef sandwich of course." They offered "Supah, Big, and Junya". The optional toppings list was as long as my arm (literally something for everyone) and again I suggested "the standard". Naturally I opted for the super topped with hot, melty cheese and barbecue sauce served on an onion bun with the diner staple side of fries and a Diet Pepsi for dining-in. While I waited we talked about where I came from, what brought me to the area, etc. and the conversation felt genuine and natural. This wonderful woman loved her job and loved the idea of making sure the customer felt appreciated and it showed. She was patient, unbothered, interested, and interesting. Soon enough, a matter of a few minutes, my hot sandwich and golden fries were on a tray in front of me waiting to be devoured. I was told I could eat at the tables right inside the door or upstairs in the dining room. I chose to take the steps and walked into a roomy yet cozy space aligned with booths, tables, and a window side bar. Within seconds I was unwrapping the butcher's paper and taking my first bite. "Hot beefy bliss". No, that's not a line from a smut novel, but my instant reaction. All of a sudden I understood why some people have such a strong distaste for Arby's and Walmart staple Raybern's third tier sandwiches. The meat was roasted to perfection; nowhere close to over done and slightly pink in some spots with the perfect degree of saltiness and depth. The cheese had melted over the top of the meat pile like a savory blanket of coziness. The tangy barbecue sauce sealed the deal with its mouthwatering blend of spices and the ideal amount of heat. The onion bun was soft and fluffy, flawlessly steamed to the perfect temp and density. Each individual flavor stood out on its own, the beef stealing the show, yet somehow combined to create a scrumptious feasting experience unlike any other. I was converted on the first bite and right then and there Arby's became a thing of the past. The fries. Holy mother of all things deep fried, the fries were absolutely phenomenal. Everything a person would want and expect in the quintessential French fry was present. Golden, standard cut potato sticks that were crispy on the outside (you could hear the crunch when you took a bite) and as soft as fluffy cloud on a summer day underneath the blonde outer shell. I had already got my ketchup sprinkled with pepper all set up and ready to go and ended up finish the whole order before I realized I hadn't even touched it. They didn't need any help Portion sizes were well worth the price and more than enough to fill me up. I finished because I wanted more, not because I was still hungry. There are several local spots on my radar, but I already know I'll be back to visit Bill & Bob before I check them all off my list. My only complaint is that I didn't remember the name of the woman who took my order and made me feel like I was at home with friends. As much as the food speaks for itself it always helps to be accommodated by a hospitable employee who strives to make the experience memorable and she did just that. Great first experience dining in the town of Woburn and the other locals now have a high standard to live up to. read more

I don't even know where to begin, everything about this place sucks. The roast beef looks like it's from a muff cabbage, the establishment has black mold growing in the drywall, and to top it off, the people are assholes. And when I mean people, I'm not talking about the women at the cash register one would only describe as a divine human, Im talking about you: Bill (or bob). Today me and a couple of hometown guys decided to make a lunchtime excursion to Bill and Bobs "famous roast beef" what a joke. While eating at the high tops, bill was taking out the trash down below in front of us. While taking out the trash, bill realized that there was actually five or so baseball helmets in trash. As he pulled them out one by one me and my guys had a little chuckle (as one would) because you don't just see that everyday. Bill saw us laughing at what we thought as a comical situation. He then shifted his geezer legs into sport mode, and had the audacity to rush inside in order to say "whats so Fu***** funny, just shut up and eat your food you fags". I was astonished when I heard this. Not only did Bill show us that he is a complete prick, he is also throws around the f slur like nothing. If you were thinking about going here, I high advise you to not go. The food is overpriced and it appears that Bill wakes up on the wrong side of the bed more times than not. Wow have times changed. Was my go to place when I worked in Woburn in the 80's. Now hit it up a couple of times a year. The sandwich was comically scrawny and perhaps 1/3 of the amount of meat you'd get from most other shops with a super beef. Won't mention the other places since this is more about the fall of B & B. Also forgot requested sauce on the side in the bag. A sad day indeed. Pizza rolls were solid but the place is not called Bill & Bob's pizza rolls now is it. Bill and Bob's was a staple of my post driver's license high school dining. I don't head this way too often anymore and when I drove by I decided to stop by for old times' sake. I pull up to a drive through and ask for a grilled chicken sandwich and a roast beef 3-way. He asks me what I wanted on the chicken sandwich, I said whatever you normally put on there. He responds with "I don't know what we usually put on there"... really? Few drive-thru's available that isn't Wendy's, Dunkin, or MacDonalds. My favorite item to order is the fish filet with tarter sauce lettuce & tomato, side of fries. But tonight I decided to order a cheeseburger sub lettuce tomato onion mayo and pickles. It was okay, I thought it would be hand built burger patties but I think it was frozen burger patties lacked in flavor, not hot off the grill and not juicy how I imagined. But it's my first time getting it so now I know stick to my usual. I'd still recommend the place for my usual, friendly service, accuracy, and short wait time. The fact that people give this dump a great review is reason enough to move out of this lousy town for greener pastures ASAP. Know ahead of time what toppings you want (mayo lettuce onion cheese BBQ) & that they are slightly skimpy on toppings, so get an extra side of BBQ. The BBQ is good. The "Big Beef" is the medium size. 1 Big Beef + 1 side = 1 person if you're medium-hungry. Fried Mushrooms and Broccoli Cheese Bites are good sides. I've been going here for years, but today I was severely disappointed. I saw their "New" subs ad on the menu, and decided to try the pastrami ones. I was with another person so we ordered 2 pastrami subs with cheese & 2 pizza rolls. Once we got our food, (our total came to just under $20) I was appalled by the size bag they handed us. Literally the size of a small paper lunch bag. Hit the Woburn drive-thru at about 12:30am after a saturday night out with friends. Ordered the chicken finger plate plus a steak & cheese "egg roll" and a tuna sub for my brother. The chicken fingers were hard and dry even more so than what would be expected from bagged frozen fingers, the fries were also hard with half being luke warm and the other half cold, finally the onion rings were good for frozen rings and hot. The "steak & cheese roll" had barely any flavor and the filling looked like dog food, although it was nice and hot with melted cheese. Surprisingly the tuna sub was loaded with tuna and fresh lettuce and reminded us of the tuna mom would make for our grade school lunches, pretty damn good. McDonalds or Wendys probably would have been the better choice for a late night food fix. read more

Very friendly fastfood environment in which - as opposed to a McDonalds or something of that ilk - you almost get the feeling they enjoy what they are doing here, and it shows in the food, as well in that they appear to have many loyal local customers I wasn't very hungry, but needed a snack so I had their small roast beef sandwich with a variety of condiments (including lots of tasty horseradish sauce). I was a little disappointed that they charged extra for the condiments, but the end result was very tasty. Sometimes a hot dog is just a hot dog, other times, it's magnificence in a bun. I was really craving one of those Nathan's style hot dogs, you know the ones I am talking about. A bit greasy, almost burned, the bun liberally soaked with butter and browned, bursting with steam and flavor when you bite into it, with just the right amount of mustard. Yeah. Was in Winchester for work today and went there for lunch on a recommendation. From the outside I couldn't tell if there was seating or not? I thought there was only take out area and counters. I noticed about 4-5 cars going thru the drive thru so figured it must be good. I ordered the Big Beef combo - roast beef sanwich on a bun w/ fries in a cup and small soda for about $7.50 or so...they did charge me 25 cents each extra for the lettuce and tomatoes. The roast beef was tender and some of it was rare which is how I like it. And yes they did have seating inside to the left. There's not much inside just a bunch of benches and tables - nothing special. The sandwich was pretty good, fries were good too. Quite possibly the worst roast beef in the entire country. They must get all the fat trimmings, gristle, and hardest meat from a slaughterhouse and then form it into block where they shave it off and put it into sandwiches to sell to the public. If that's not bad enough, they microwave it to make it even MORE tougher and chewy. Do you like soggy cold fries that taste like they were dipped in 40 weight motor oil? Neither do I, but if you do, Bill & Bob's is just the ticket. This place is great if you're looking to lose some extra pounds.
