I ordered from Royal last night and got their s'mores calzone - the description on the menu simply says chocolatey goodness - does not list the ingredients but it's s'mores so i figured it would be chocolate, marshmallows and graham crackers. Turns out it was Nutella and i am severely allergic to hazelnuts. I had a horrible reaction last night. Today i called Royal to ask the ingredients. When they said Nutella, i told them they should label that since i had an allergic reaction last night. They could not have cared less. They said "yeah we need to change that next menu print." First time ordering from here as my GF was craving something meaty/seafood. Ended up ordering: 1) Fisherman's Platter 2) Sirloin Steak Tips Dinner Plate Portions - 10/10, a lot of food and makes sense for the cost Flavor - 10/10, I wasn't expecting the steak tips to be as flavorful as they were, they must be marinated overnight, but they were cooked perfectly. Same goes for the Fisherman's Platter....extremely fresh seafood, cooked perfectly, not over done. Disappointed and Frustrated--A $13 Greek Salad Disaster After a long day, I stopped by Royal Roast Beef and Seafood, hoping to treat myself to a decent Greek salad. What I got instead was a sad, overpriced collection of wilted produce and careless preparation. The lettuce was brown around the edges, clearly past its prime. The "feta" amounted to less than a quarter cup of crumbles. The carrots tasted bitter and old, the pepperoncini were completely missing, and there were just two lone black olives. To top it off, the rolled pita was stale, hard at the edges, and crumbled apart when I tried to unroll it--served alongside plastic flatware as if that might somehow make it presentable. This wasn't just disappointing--it felt like I paid for someone to clean out their fridge. A proper Greek salad should come with fresh, crisp lettuce, ripe tomato slices, real Greek olives, and soft, warm pita--not this poorly assembled imitation. Charging nearly $13 for such a meal is not just bad business; it's a letdown from what appears to be a local, mom-and-pop establishment. I expected quality and care. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had! The crabmeat club. Loads and loads of crabmeat and lots of bacon. With lettuce tomato and mayo. On lovely thick white toast. Huge sandwich very reasonable price. Served with curly fries. So a couple days later I ordered the crab roll sandwich. Wonderful. Still stunned at the amount of crabmeat on both these sandwiches. Our group also got calzones and chicken sandwiches. Also very good and nice generous portions. Both the curly fries and regular fries were hot and tasty and stood up to delivery very well. I'm from out of state so not sure I'll ever be back in the area but this is a gem of a restaurant with a massive menu and great food. Regret I didn't get a chance to try the roast beef! read more

Overall, great roast beef from a roast beef spot. This is a takeout places not a date night spot but there are 4 booths and a counter and it's clean and smells nice inside. The man working the counter was attentive and helpful. He was busy and answering phones but got it all done. Order was turned around in about 10 minutes I got a roast beef sandwich on gluten free bread. The portion size was good. I was super hungry and I didn't have fries because the fryer isn't gluten free. Prices were reasonable. My husband got a king beef. Eyes too big for his stomach but we both agreed the roast beef sandwiches, especially the sauce was delicious. Orders were prepared correctly as ordered. Also got an order of fries which were hot, crispy curly fries. Could use a bit more salt but that's personal preference. We will be back. read more

Just waited almost an hour and a half for my pizza to arrive undercooked with unmelted cheese. Pizza is cold. Fries are cold and floppy. Giving 2 stars because truly the people that work here are incredibly friendly and the other time we ate here for lunch the wraps were good. I just feel disappointed that there was a 2.99 delivery charge plus tip, so for a small pizza and small French fry with side dips it came to 30 dollars. My family came here four times in three days so clearly we like this place. The Greek Chicken Kabob wrap and calzone are delicious. The chicken is marinated perfectly and it's a great combination of flavor. Their house Greek dressing is also delicious. GET CURLY FRIES. We've also tried the steak and cheese sub (delicious), the buffalo chicken calzone, and the Caprese chicken calzone. You really can't go wrong! FYI - they deliver but have a small fee. Gave them 3 stars because the staff are incredibly nice and accommodating. The food wasn't great. I got a seafood combo. I will compliment the tartar sauce, onion rings and clams. The shrimp was undercooked and the clams were over cooked. The Cole slaw was not tasty at all. I did think the scallops were great. If I return (which is doubtful) I think I'll just get a scallop plate. Also, they need to update their online menu. Prices are much more expensive than listed on their website. Very disappointed that the salmon entree was not included in the meal. You pay, pick up the order, drive all the way home, settle in, wash up and sit down to eat and then find out one dinner is missing the entree. Lots and lots of rice pilaf (maybe the salmon is buried underneath). So we call and get the wrong response "I was going to call you and let you know". But they didn't call and instead Royal waited for me to call. Maybe you were hoping we wouldn't call. After some negotiation 10-15 minutes later our salmon was delivered. By that time it was barely warm. Let's not blame Covid, the place was very well staffed. Mistakes happen but how you react to the mistake makes a big difference. Not calling says a lot to me. My mother's birthday was Wednesday, so we celebrated it today. She really wanted seafood (A fried Fisherman's Platter in particular.). Wasn't really up for driving all the way to Gloucester/Essex/Ipswich just for takeout, nor did we really want to resort to Kelly's, so I posted in my local 'Foodie' group on Facebook asking recommendations for a good place we can get a good clam or Fisherman's Platter in the Woburn/Burlington/Wilmington/Stoneham area, and a lot of group members commented recommending Royal's, so we decided to go with that. All in all, I'm pretty glad we did. We got wings, a cup of Chowder, I got the Scallop and Shrimp Marnier, hub got Fish & Chips, Mom got the Fisherman's Platter. Wings, good. My hub said his fish & chips were really good. My Scallop and Shrimp Marnier, excellent! My mom said her Fisherman's Platter was absolutely phenomenal. HUGE bellies on the clams and she said the batter was just right. She says that was the best Fisherman's Platter (fried clams especially) that she's had in a long time...even better than Woodman's! Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because I wasn't too crazy about the Chowder tbh. It kind of lacked the clams. But, even then, it's really nothing major. I've had worse! Lol! If I could give 4 1/2 out of 5 instead of just 4, I would, but unfortunately, Yelp doesn't do that. I'm quite picky when it comes to Chowder anyway, I'm kind of a Chowder Snob...lol! Service was good and the food pretty much overall was really good. Now, we know where to go for good fried seafood if we're not up for the drive all the way up to the northern coast. I'm visiting my mother in stoneham and she wanted to get us some dinner. I am unfamiliar with stoneham takeout so my mother recommended Royal Roast Beef. She got the king beef her boyfriend got the pastrami sub and I got a garden salad with steak tips cooked rare. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. The salad was huge and extremely crispy and fresh with fresh veggies and lettuce the steak tips were cooked to perfection and tasted unbelievably delicious... whatever the marinate their tips in is absolutely delicious. Once of the best freshest salads and some of the best tips I've had in a long time. And they weren't skimpy with the tips either. They gave a nice hefty amount of tips with my salad. Well I called to ask if they made tuna melts and was greeted by a rude worker. I should have given up on this place when I kept calling and getting a ring then busy signal. But because I thought they did tuna melts and that was my craving for the day I kept trying. The guy that answered the phone was so rude. I dont understand why, I am giving them my business which is the reason why I assume they are opened; for business. I dont know what ate his grapes but there was no reason to take it out on me. So I ended up ordering the ham and cheese cal-zone. Wasn't bad, wasn't spectacular either. The crust was amazing tho I think more cheese could have been added and it would have tasted better with some gooey cheddar cheese. We used to order from here a lot. Then we got on a health kick and now only order once in a while. Not sure if they've changed owners since the pandemic but I have to say accuracy and quality have diminished. Ordered just yesterday and no dressing for the salad, I couldn't even get my container out of the bag before it exploded all over the table and I had to put my club sandwich back together which is really hard to do with wet bread, by the way. We were obviously no where near the top of their delivery route, but it was all soggy. I'm sad, it was definitely a good local place to order from. Maybe they'll read these and change? Worst lobster roll ever $35 and it was hard and chewy and gross and who puts lettuce on a hot lobster roll? They also gave French fries instead of onion rings like requested and the scallop roll was similarly terrible. So chewy ugh. We paid $90 and ate French fries for dinner. The French fries were meh but still hands down the only edible items we were given. I believe I ordered from here before and it was fine but if you have a pretty good menu and then you put items you don't make well or you can't get some items fresh maybe just take them off the menu. I've never been more disappointed in a food experience this expensive. I hate leaving reviews this bad but honestly I'm upset that I had to pay for food that I hated and upset that anyone thinks that was acceptable food to serve. In the past I had only ever ordered roast beef sandwiches from Royal, which were good but it's not really at the top of my "favorite foods" list (roast beef in general). About a month ago my husband and in laws and I were looking for someplace to order dinner from and we decided to get Royal. I decided to try something different and got the honey bbq steak tip dinner... SO glad I did!! It was absolutely delicious and a giant portion. Since then I've had it at least 3 more times. Everyone in the house tried some and loved it, and I'm still flabbergasted by just how much food comes in this dinner. Also, their dessert calzones are to DIE for! I'm a bit fan of Royal Roast Beef - great food, good prices, and the service is always very friendly. Their combo deals are a good value and basically 2 full meals in one. They really don't skimp on portions. The roast beef is super tender and tasty. They seem to have good precautions in place for COVID as well. I went in to pick up food there recently and everyone was wearing masks and everything looked clean - no crowds. When I worked nearby, about 10 years ago, I got lunch here at least once a week. Usually the haddock sandwich which WAS so good. I found myself nearby today & picked one up. It smelled & tasted fishy which means it was not fresh fish. The texture was rubbery. It was truly disgusting. Shocked when $18.24 for a Junior Roast Beef, small fry and a soda. Asked why? The manager showed me the receipt . However the receipt did not match the advertised prices. He points to a sign that says that due to COVID 19 prices are subject to change with out notice, then he said " I can't be expected to change the prices every three minutes." I reminded him in Massachusetts you can only charge what you display the price as. If you took the time to up your register pricing you should have changed the signage.
