Until we met one of the officers of the City's Code Enforcement Department (via notice/warning letters) for a quick tutorial of covering the landscape areas between the public right of way sidewalks, curbs, and gutters alongside our property line. Eager to fix what we have been unaware of for months, we reached out to several landscape companies and obtained several quotes... Wow!!! What it costs to look at an appealing yard and surrounding areas!! For a moment we appreciated HOA, just for a quick second... Considering our 3 quotes, Rock, Turf, and Landscape worked with changing up materials that our budget would appreciate. They scheduled us to meet our Code Enforcement deadline (yes, we got a fix-it ticket from the City!) and landscape crew were quick to prep, complete and clean up. We didn't want to deal with maintenance or monthly landscape and water bills, so we opted for a rock landscape as it was much cheaper than fake turf. With a few minor changes, Gus was knowledgable with material and explained why, what and how we would expect to maintain. While there were more permanent solutions, it will cost more when cosmetic designs on permanent landscape come to play. Working with our budget and offering options for our needs, we were pleased to opt for rock landscape as a best fit for us based on what we expected for the long-term. The crew were friendly, professional, and courteous, especially toward heavy foot-traffic as they worked on the sidewalk areas. Since I'm being accused of defamation, here is more proof…read more In my opinion, This tree was planted too deep and there was too much mulch and bark completely covering the trunk and base of the tree that we had to remove, unfortunately, this suffocated the tree according to 2 local nurseries. It didn't help that you incorrectly set our sprinkler system. My dad asked for the front yard and back yard to be set the same amount of time in morning and late afternoon, you set it so that the back yard got the highest amount of water in the morning AND afternoon and the front yard got the lower amount of water in the morning and afternoon. No wonder the tree is almost dead. Now to address your accusation of racism: How about you ask your guys that were here when the front yard was being done how often I would speak Spanish with them every time I pulled up to my house? I asked them how to say a couple things and they taught me. I enjoyed having you guys around, including you (when you were there). My post was nothing personal. I took 3 years of Spanish in high school and I always make it a point to practice when I can so I don't forget words. I can also speak a tiny bit of Vietnamese (learned about 20 years ago), tiny bit of Chinese (Mandarin- still learning), a little French and a little German. I've lived in Southern California my entire life. You only met 3 white people at my house and my whole family is an extremely mixed bunch of 3 different races. It's awfully judgmental of you to label someone as racist simply because of their skin color. Telling someone they did something wrong isn't racist, just fyi. I understand your go to "racist" comment with the way the world is right now, but it was displaced towards the wrong people. You could have fixed the problems (because there are more than I posted) instead of ghosting us and ignoring the issues, but you didn't. We had our backyard done by them and Sam Sr. was our contact. From the beginning there were things…read morethat were unclear and we had to keep clarifying and were constantly told it will cost more. Even with that, we went with them thinking it was just a misunderstanding which happened twice! The job took about a week, no start date was given but it was just a random show up. The last day of the week being Friday, Sam Sr. was rushing to finish and at first, said he would return on Saturday if it could not be completed because Monday he had another job to go to. On Friday, things were rushed and the job was not completed but they claimed it was done. We found that the pavers were not set on the stairs and there were spaces between paver that were not covered with sand properly. Also, the areas where the stones should have been filled were not done and my yard was not cleaned up entirely before they left. I had to send video of my pavers not being set which was later fixed. Also, my husband was upset at the job not being completed and done half fast since he had another project lined up. This is a new construction home. I later had all my windows cleaned only to be told that there was sand stuck on the bottom of the frame of the sliding glass door and could not be easily cleaned due to the rain which clogged my weep holes. I contacted Sam Sr. to come and use his power washer to clean it up. I am extremely disappointed to report that he ignored my calls and messages and then later made an appointment and never showed up. Once they get their money, the customer no longer exists! We are very disappointed as my husband really liked Sam Sr. I do not recommend them. Not only did we offer them drinks daily but also bought him a case of beer! Our neighbors' contractors completed their jobs entirely and also cleaned up their yards once job was complete. This is a standard expectation which was not completed after the completion of our job.
