When you come around the corner and get that initial glance of the theater your heart skips a beat at its allure. It's an (all volunteer) community theater. It relies on volunteers and donors to keep it operating. In 2019, it is celebrating 61 years. They're doing something right. The 2019 season has some great shows lined up. Just passed was To Kill A Mockingbird and Sweeney Todd. Currently showing is Disney's original movie adapted for the stage, High School Musical. Coming up is Avenue Q, Proof, Much Ado About Murder, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Pippin and more. Check their website for dates and times. There isn't a bad seat in the house. It seats 185. If you have yet to see a production at this endearing, little theater, I urge you to find a show you'd like to see and not delay any longer. Buy tickets and go!

Well written, cast was excellent and the Elite Theater staff made us all feel we were in their home as guests. Complimentary wine and snacks after the opening, and just all around good fun. This intimate theater was clean, inviting and up to the gills in charm. It's a hike from LA, not gonna lie, but worth the trip.

It was so sweet to have her alternate at times from laying her head on Dear Hubby's shoulder and then mine. Sometimes she would sit up tall and lean forward at certain times in the show. After, she said, "I want to stay until the next one", thinking that the cast would be doing a second show right away the same day. She doesn't yet realize how much energy and effort goes into a performance like this, but I loved the positive reaction. The theater, while small scale and local, nonetheless does a great job of putting on entertainment which captivates their audiences. It's a blessing to have this venue close to home, away from the hassles and expense of going into L.A. Ticket prices are reasonable, parking is free, and the staff is friendly. The large cast managed to sing, dance, and act their way through a beloved classic musical on a smallish stage and made it work. Kudos to the visual technology that makes set decoration a new type of visual art. We're looking forward to seeing "Footloose" at the Arts Center soon.

The Hillcrest Center is part of the Park Districts facility, tucked up on the hill. Classes there are put on by the Conejo Recreation and Park District, and include classes for young musicians, and the opportunity to also review an art exhibit on premises. Sam Herbert as Evan, Carly Shukiar as Patrice and Antonia Vivino as Lucy had exceptional voices and terrific stage presence. Yet, along with these key roles, every single cast member could sing, dance, emote, act, and wow the audience with their talent. What my boyfriend and I continue to say to one another is, "Wow,,, the!se are only kids,,,, young people,,,what will they be like as adults? They can't get much better than this?" If you want an evening of high energy, talent, joy, tears and top-notch entertainment, THIS IS THE SHOW TO GO TO! Love that we have a little gem like the Studio Channel Islands art center in old town Camarillo…read more I've walked by this building many a times and always was curious what it was like inside. I came for a gala event over the weekend where they rented this space and was excited to check it out. There is plenty of parking as they have their own lot and we also were fine with parking across the street in the free two hour parking spots. The art center is small but a great way to see local art and pottery. They do have single stalls bathrooms inside the studio which is appreciated. It also looked like in one room they had jewelry for sale but I didn't give it a proper look as I was more focused on the artwork and decor. The reason for the docked star is simply because we wandered in as a part of an event that had rented the space and thus there wasn't a whole lot of art on display. What appeared to be up is their around the year collectibles and some small art work pieces. It's definitely better to plan ahead to come here when they are actually running an art exhibit or have an event specific to the art center. At least we got to check it out and have an idea about the space now. Very cool to have a place like this in Camarillo and eager to check them out again in the future so I can leave an updated review.

Ultimately, we decided to move on because my daughter has lost interest in dance, but there were a few things that became difficult for us over time. The studio follows the local school holiday schedule closely while continuing to charge full monthly tuition during breaks, which is something prospective families may want to be aware of. Recital tickets were also around $40 each, which felt expensive to us, especially considering the performances were held at a local high school auditorium. We also personally hoped to see a bit more choreography and variety in the younger beginner classes' recital performances given the overall cost. Overall, we had a positive experience, and we're especially grateful to Ms. Zoe for making dance such an enjoyable experience for our daughter.

I hope this feedback helps improve the overall atmosphere, because the quality of instruction has been wonderful.

The talent of the student performers is endless. They put on great shows and the staging and direction is world class. It's better than going to LA to equity houses and all for a low price. We do have one suggestion -- please consider audience etiquette before going. We recently attended and a family of one of the cast members were just in a word -- gross. You don't have to wear a tux but a t-shirt with Spuds McKenzie from 1985, mom? Also not cool you cut us in line going in. Dad, there is no photographs or video in the theatre during performances. You made it hard for us to see as you attempted to be Wes Anderson moving around your seat on a swivel. Finally, your son/nephew/cousin is, yeah. It's cool. You seemed to be unaware when you yelled, "Go for it!" as he kissed a female cast member on the stage. Just a little self awareness is what we're suggesting here. Glad you support his theatre aspirations! If you're the student who this is about, I'm really sorry. They sure love you and that's all we could want for you. (We'd also pay to see you on Broadway, too. You are quite talented!) but you and your cast mates deserved better. In fact, we all did.
