Recently I took my car in for an express oil change. When the express first started it was part of their regular repair shop but they changed it so you could check in separately. Since then the express oil change is much more efficient. I was checked in by Jenna Gibson who was very professional and quick. My oil change was done in a timely manner even with a filter change. Buying the truck wasn't bad it's everything after! No point in making an appointment when you'll be sitting almost 2 hours for an oil change. Been there twice for a filler cap first time it couldn't be replaced due to lack of competent tech and second time too much gas in tank (3/4 full). My girlfriend has an occupation where she'd rather not have her face on the internet. The salesman pressured her and would not take no for an answer to putting a picture of her with her new car on their facebook page. Buying floor mats for her new vehicle was a nightmare for what should be a simple transaction. The parts department left us standing at the counter for 20 minutes and was completely lost when it came to using GM Reward points. So after 3 brand new vehicles in our house within 3 years this is a summary of our experience. Overall we're just done! At the height of the second surge of COVID-19 (Delta), none of the people who check in the cars were wearing masks, and only one of the sales people had a mask. I felt very anxious being there while waiting for my car while the sales staff were strolling all over the place maskless. As I was waiting, employees had personal conversations among themselves, some critical of their jobs and their bosses. I heard an employee tell someone on the phone rather angrily, "He doesn't work here no more." This is not the Bill Rapp Subaru I am used to, and hope it isn't a sign of overall decline in professionalism or quality of the mechanics. read more

the worst experience i have ever dealt with. bought my vehicle in october and already am going to get rid of it due to all the warranties being through bill rapp. I have heard from many others the horror stories of how these people are and how they act and now i have to experience them myself. i was given my vehicle back with oil stains on the seats and the roof. I brought my car for a 10 am appointment and the car was not serviced util 2 pm. I waited outside the store for almost seven hours until car was fully serviced. I asked several times, during the length of my appointment, for an update of my service status and iI was ignored by the service department. Very disappointed in the way I was treated. I purchased my 2014 Forester from Bill Rapp in the fall of 2013. I love and depend on the car and it has had very few issues to deal with. The Subaru brand is outstanding. The last time I used Rapp's service department was when I was charged $68 to replace a $13 cabin air filter that takes 2 minutes to replace. I have since done that. And I am fortunate to have a reputable, reliable mechanic near my home, since I live 40 minutes from Rapp's dealership/service center. With transmission electronics issues that could not be resolved by my local guy, I returned to Rapp's service center to have the problem diagnosed and parts replaced. A day and a half later, I paid the $2200 bill and received a list of other "issues" that were the service tech found "needed attention", along with estimated costs for each. I was told the back-up camera was not working. It worked when I left my driveway to bring the car in. When I got home, I lifted the hatch, cleaned and wiggled the camera a bit and found it working just fine. Better than the $640 estimate to replace the camera. Despite another estimate, I have never had to pay $860 for a brake job. The front right parking lamp that I purchased for $3.50 and replaced in 2 minutes, was estimated at $25. If all parts for servicing the vehicle are marked up at 7 times the cost, I have to shop elsewhere, if at all possible. I realize that Bill Rapp has a business to run, service techs and other employees to pay and can't reply on new car sales at this time to sustain them. Given more reasonable pricing and more expedient communications from the service department, I would do more business with them. read more

I have purchased vehicles at Bill Rapp for many, many years. I also have always returned to the service department for routine maintenance. I appreciate the welcome I receive each time I pull in for service followed by the service advisors who make sure that I understand what needs to be done. I always wait for the service and the advisors come to the customer lounge when the work is done and the complimentary wash is finished. It may seem unimportant to some but I really appreciate one of the waiting areas that is not blasting a television. Makes a great place to read or to use the computer. read more

Feel like every time I interact with this place, something gets messed up. When I bought my car, it was noted to have some damage and to be honest, found the salesman response to be lacking. Finally heard back from him and he agreed the dealership would cover- it seems every time it comes up, someone asks me to prove the conversation. Why couldn't the salesman have indicated somewhere that this would be happening? He told me they would order part and when it arrived, someone would contact me to schedule the repair. That never happened. So with COVID under control, reached out to follow up- no one had any idea about it and part was never ordered. I showed them the written exchange I had and they said they will order part then we can schedule appt. Almost a year later, I finally went to have fixed- dropped car off in morning where I was again asked for proof of the agreement the dealership would cover and went back at 4:45pm to pick up. When I look, it isn't completely fixed so they had to pull the car back in to complete the repair. Just frustrating as the car was there all day since 8:15am and now I had to wait another 25 minutes for the repair to be completed. We recently had two back to back interactions with Bill Rapp's Subara dealership, after I bought a new Subaru as a first-time Subara user earlier this year. The first interaction was a standard oil change in their Express window: while the wait was 2 hours due to backed up other Express customers presumably, everything was dealt with very smoothly, courteously, and the price was very reasonable. The second interaction, however, really stood out: at the very beginning of a 3000 mile cross country trip yesterday morning, the electronic 'gate' of the car malfunctioned. We swung by Rapp on our way out of town, and Steven, the mechanic, was magically able to fix it in about 15 min without any advance appointment! This allowed us to still leave Syracuse as planned, which meant a lot to us. Our hats were off to Steven for his low key yet extremely capable and helpful support!! read more

I scheduled an appointment online for my free inspection for which I advised upon arrival that I would be waiting there for my car. After being there for over half an hour, I was told that my two Bridgestone back tires would not pass inspection. My leased Forester only has 29,000 miles and is two years old. Really shocked tires did not last the length of the lease and would never recommend that brand!! I told them to put the new tires on (not Bridgestone) and they also recommended an alignment. I waited over two hours for my car and there was never more than three people in the waiting area. The last hour, I was the only one in the waiting room. The end result was I wasted an entire afternoon in their waiting area for two new tires and an alignment and spent over $400 for my "free inspection". Also the Body Shop Department staff were not wearing masks the entire time I was there and they were mingling around with each other and they are all young guys. Very disconcerting to say the least. They definitely need to work on their service department scheduling and keeping customers informed of the status of their car repairs while customers are waiting. read more

We are first time Subaru owners that bought our car just as the Norwich shop was changing to Rapp. It was supposed to have remote start but it didn't. We asked Rapp's service for a price to add one and none of the calls were returned. We also said we had questions about the car and they said they would make an appointment with sales to answer our questions but they never did. we called a couple of days later, they said they would call us back they never did. I took the car in for service and they said it wasn't in the computer, bring us the registration. They said this same thing for three services in a row. They have had us come in for service every three thousand miles, which has been 3 times in 9 thousand miles. I asked why the manual says 6 thousand miles for service and they said it should be 3 thousand. We love the subaru and are going to replace our other car with a Forester but not from this place. read more

All I get are more emails thanking me for my business from a place I have never done business with. Ever. I would not recommend doing business with anyone who relies on consumer credit as currency who does not seem to know that someone seems to have fraudulently purchased and serviced a vehicle using my name and information. I would have appreciated SOME semblance of interest after one of my many responses requesting follow up on what I fear may be identity theft.
