I came here to pick up a couple of tank tops. I thought the quality was better than the ones at the ABC stores. There's also a bunch of tank tops with some sort of "Hawaii" label on the logo which is likely what most people/tourists are looking for. I appreciate how they actually have fitting rooms. I guess I must've shopped too much at souvenir stores which usually have no fitting rooms. If you're below 5'9", all the tanks might be too big for you. Now WHY are there not any prices on a LOT OF THINGS??? I asked the cashier how much the nice board shorts were and she said "$60". I asked why no price tags on things? She said it was because they didn't want to put the wrong price on the items, so it was better to check. WHAT??? I have never heard of that before! My theory is you will be waiting so long in line that when you get up there, you'll pay whatever they ask before you go back to ask for the price of another item. Billabong is OG in Hawaii. So Mr. P and I took a stroll in while on the strip in Waikiki. The staff here were all young gals who were swooning over boys outside, and not worried about customers inside. As far as inventory, it looked full in there but they had no sizes of anything we were interested in. Not everyone in the world is an XL. "Go online and order it" isn't a great way to service your customer. I also believe that because of their location, the average customer would like to buy Hawaiian gear and know that they got it there in Hawaii...not online. Merchandising was good. I like Billabong beachwear. They have good quality swimwear, cute clothes, not too crazy colors or designs. This store has been recently remodeled, more spacious and chic. The staff is friendly but not too imposing on selling. Their clothes are reasonable price, not marked up for tourist area. They have all the classic selection plus women's T-shirts and sweatshirts that say Hawaii and Waikiki. I requested a specific size for the children's section and they went to great lengths to call a few local stores and try to find the right size which they didn't have so they did everything they could do overall . it's a really big store with a great selection and the sales people even said oh you could alway. read more

Selection is pretty good for both swim shorts and bathing suits. Price point seems to be inline with other locations and other surf shops. No inflation being in a tourist area. The couple of times we've gone in, the staff has been very friendly. When my husband wanted to try on a few boardshorts the young man came over after ringing another customer up and let my husband in. He made some small talk about the mall events and what we were up to. He also checked on my husband periodically to see if everything was good. Out of the 4 pairs my husband tried on, he found 2 that were a good fit. I do have to comment though on product knowledge. I feel like you have to know what you're selling. Being that you're living in Hawaii, working in a surf shop, and selling sunblock, you have to know something about it. Sunblock has been talked about a lot in recent news and how if it's not reef friendly or containing oxybenzone it's banned from being sold. As we were checking out, I asked about the sunblock collection near the register area, Sun Bum. The young man couldn't answer anything about it, the law, the sunblock company, nothing. He didn't even promote it or see if he could get any information to share. He just said, that he didn't know. Other than product knowledge, we would definitely shop here again. read more

Love love this store! Typically when you see a store like this along shops in Waikiki your initial thought is everything inside will be overpriced. I am really glad that my husband went inside with me just to look around. I thought the prices were fair especially since billabong is a very well-known surfing company. I remember wearing billabong as a younger child and thinking $12 for a shirt times have changed and the shirt that I bought this time the 17 dollars which to me was pretty good considering you can spend up to 30 on a really nice tank top these days. I thought the customer service was really good as well one of the store workers came right up to me and asked me if I needed any help and I was actually in the store looking for some stuff for tank top and a hat for my daughter. She was happy to help and even switch out sizes. If for whatever reason I am in Waikiki again I will stop and check out Billabong again. read more

I shopped in here 2 times while we were in Waikiki. Neither time did anyone even speak to me. The first time was an impulse, I was walking by and saw a tank I liked and stopped in and bought it. Looked for a bit, checked out and left. The second time I had planned to shop there. Got in the store was looking around found some mens shorts grabbed a pair. Looked a bit more, not a single employee interaction. Happened to see another pair, grabbed them. Kai at Billabong International Marketplace was the nicest saleslady I have ever experienced. I went to volcom in Waikiki and asked for a bikini in a larger size and was treated so rudely. So I decided to try billabong in international market place and was not turned away! Kai made sure we found the right size and placed it on hold so my boyfriend could buy it for me. I found a cute RVCA dress and asked the salesperson if it would shrink. She said no, as long as I followed instructions, hand wash, hang to dry etc. I washed it as instructed when I came home and it shrunk from a size large to an extra small. I've been coming here for years because of their good selection of boardshorts. However, last night, something happened that pretty much ended any shopping I will ever do there. My wife said she'd buy me new boardshorts, so we went there in the early evening. She and my 5 year old son were sharing a jamba juice. When she was done, she dropped the empty cup in the nearest garbage can. I was over by the boardshorts, so I couldn't hear what was happening, but this huge guy came over and started talking to her. Much to my surprise, she then started digging around in the garbage can. I went over to find out what was going on. She said the big guy worked there and said customers were not allowed to use their trash cans and made her fish her cup back out!!!! Well, obviously, the three pairs of boardshorts I had picked out went right back on the rack. As we were leaving, the big guy said he liked my aloha shirt. Really? You loom over my 95 lb wife and bully her into digging through a trash can and now you want to make nice? Seriously, who is in charge of customer service training there? Strange thing in Hawaii, all you wanna buy are shorts--short shorts, short bikini bottoms, short tanks, short cover-ups...short dresses-- absolutely convinced that once you reach good ole San Francisco, with its irrevocably puckish weather, you will actually have use for all these summer treasures! Billabong has two locations (maybe another hidden within the hotel mini-malls?)on Kalakaua Avenue--it is hard to resist, there in that tropical climate not to go in and spend 50-60 dollars on pair of shorts. Incredible selections, incredible cuts (I actually looked 5'10"---LONG legs), incredible styles...The sales girls are all cute (I think it is a pre-requisite)with their pigeon talk, and surfer tans and in the true Hawaiian way, genuinely helpful. You don't find stores like this here in SF, so I stocked up--find me in beachwear sometime in September or whenever SF decides it's SUMMER. read more

I was looking for a certain Billabong boardshorts and had a hard time finding it at different surf shops here on Oahu and online. I forgot that there was a Billabong store in Waikiki. They had the style but not the color that I wanted. However they had another style that I was looking for that I never saw in another surf shop. I was stoked! I ended up walking out with three new boardshorts for this summer. Don't forget to show your ID if your Kama'aina for a discount. Also shout out to Allie who was super nice and helpful in helping me find the right boardshorts. Allie and the staff was super cool and made my visit to Billabong very enjoyable. During my friend's visit to Hawaii, she purchased a bikini at Billabong. She asked me to return the bottoms for her because she was heading home to the mainland. At Billabong, the associate told me I would need to come back when a manager was in the store so do a return to my friend's card. I came back later and the manager Taron was extremely rude. She said she couldn't accept a bikini return. I pointed out that the cancellation policy doesn't say ANYTHING about being unable to return bikinis. She said fine, she could process the return, by my friend would need to come to the store. The return policy also does not say that the person needs to be present. She then agreed to do a return if I could get a photo of my friend's ID & Credit Card because "I can't be giving money away to just anyone." When I got the pictures, she didn't even look at them and said "I am doing you a favor. I am not supposed to take swim returns because of hygiene." I walked away with store credit, feeling robbed. DO NOT buy from here if you are not positive you want to keep the purchase. Taron will not let you exchange bikinis despite it not being Final Sale in the cancellation policy. read more

Lacks proper management. I like in waikiki and shop here frequently, not only for myself but for my employees as well. Recenty I purchased 5 tshirts there and spent over $100. They told me at the register that if you spend $100 you get a free tshirt, so i picked another one out, leaving the store with 6 shirts. I went to exchange 1 of the tshirts for a pair of shorts, they refused to, saying that the tshirt i wanted to exchange was the free one (it must have been the cheapest of the 6). I left the store pretty pissed. I spent $500 the last time i was in this store and was exchanging a shirt I paid for for a pair of shorts that cost 3x as much. Any retail manager would have found a solution to the problem read more
