Stopped by to get my niece boxing gear. Located upstairs on the second floor of a walk up building. Person working there was super helpful knows all of the fighting schools and their recommendations for gloves. They have straps and other things you will need for training. They provided gloves of every range of price. Just not a lot of colors to pick from, especially for girls. Definitely come here, staff is super nice if you need some fighting gear. read more

Most of their boxing equipment is geared toward MMA training and Muay Thai kick boxing. Competitive boxers are required to have training, sparing, and competition gloves. This stuff will need to be special ordered Jiu-Jitsu: Great selection of Brazilian jiu-jitsu gis, which have thicker collars and tighter wrists than their Japanese Judo gis. They carry Atama gis, which are one of the best gis on the market. No gi clothing: Excellent selection of no-gi or submission wrestling apparel. Needed to pick up some wraps and I finally made it here after years of just driving by. It's located on Sheridan Street across from the HMSA building. It's a small two level walk building. There is ample parking during the day since the businesses downstairs are bars...they don't really impact this business cause they seem to close rather early. As for the staff, warm and welcoming. They carry a wide range of martial art / MMA gear and training equipment. They are pretty well stocked and I'd be surprised if you didn't find what you needed. Anyway keep training. read more

This is a great small fight store at the corner of keeamoku and makaloa street, upstairs. Kinda easy to miss if you're not sure where is at. Upon entering I got greeted by two very friendly guys, and that's great because you only have one chance for a first impression! I just got started training Jiu Jitsu and I needed a belt, they seemed genuinely excited to see someone getting started in the art and they started to give me lots of good advice. I felt very welcomed, and that's very important because going to a fight equipment store as a newbie can be a bit awkward and intimidating. You won't feel that way in this store. Even though the store seems a bit small, they do have a very nice selection of gear. Lots of Jiu Jitsu gis, rashguards, fight shorts, gloves, etc. from many brands, sizes, and for women too. Their prices are reasonable too, there is a small premium to pay when compared to shopping online, but you won't get the friendly customer service, and also the chance to feel and try a piece of gear before you buy. I'll gladly pay a few bucks more just to support a local small business that will give me lots of aloha in return. Aside from the brand-name gear, they also have their own line of apparel and fight gear. They have some very nice high quality shirts with original designs, their own Jiu Jitsu belts, and just recently they introduced their own fight shorts. The first time I went there I bough a belt and two shirts. That was about four months ago, and the shirts are holding up very well, the logos still look like new, and overall the shirts still feel great. Good quality. The second time I went there I walked out with a brand new gi. It was very reasonably priced, only about $10-15 more than online MSRP but when you take into account shipping charges (and waiting since time is money), it pretty much evens out. While I was there I tried a bunch of their gis, and got some good advice on how to choose a gi that's right for me. Needless to say I'm a happy customer and will go back many times. read more

Initial thought was that the staff was friendly, and the store was clean. I stopped in about half an hour before closing, browsed around for some shin guards. After finding the pair I wanted, I took them to the register. The price that rung up was a bit higher than I thought, so I asked if they were $79.99 (msrp I've seen online). The guy said no, $89.99. I needed shin guards, so I bought them. As I was putting them into the car, the tag dropped down and said $79.99. I went back up to talk to the guy, but the shop was locked, lights off. This was literally less than a minute after I left the shop, and about 15 minutes before closing time. It may have only been $10.00, and I probably should have searched for the tag in the beginning, but i felt ripped off. Update: Dane reached out to me and explained that their prices on certain items are higher to offset the costs of shipping from the Mainland. This goes a long way in showing me that they care very much about the opinions of their customers. Thanks Dane. read more

You can park on the street or in front of Kiawe Grill and this place is a sure bet to find not only your Traditional Martial Arts needs but also allos you to scatch or punch or kick or choke out your MMA itch! Bryce at HNL is very helpful and takes the time to assist customers with their queries. I like the vibe and found this is to be a big improvement over their last location, which was formerly OTM Fight Shop. I liked how they had tons of Gis in stock too which was something that OTM seemed to run out of quickly. All in all, the good service, the amount of products, the noticeable drop in price compared to their previous location, and the all around good vibe makes this a Knock Out experience! read more

The shorts had a hole in it, but what made it worse was a permanent pen was used to cover it up! Basically, it looked like a kindergartner colored over the hole. HORRIBLE. I took it back and the owner was not there. As he spoke to the employee via phone, no apology was given except just to exchange it for something else. Extremely poor customer service and business practices. Any small business shop should understand that customer service along with superb products are key. At the very least, discount damage goods or don't put them up at all. read more

I was surprised how unintimidated I quickly became coming in HNL fight shop to buy full contact sparring gear! I was actually quite nervous the first time going in here, but the shop owner made me very comfortable shopping for gear and well, I basically embraced my awkward uncertainty and was made comfortable despite my confusion of basically everything in this store I was seeing for the first time. I was helped in a very timely manner and I got to see the range of products and taught the pros and cons before making the best decisions of what products to purchase. Hands down the best place on-island for all you jiu jitsu players out there to scoop up your gear. The only place (that I'm aware of) to regularly carry all of best quality lifestyle brands in the sport. And of course, I'm not referring to the Tapouts or Dethrones or Triumphs of the world. I'm referring to brands like Moya, 31Fifty, Arte Suave... not to mention their own line of clothing, which is pretty damn sick itself! They also carry the best selection of gi's on the island, in terms of brands, styles, and sizes. They do have your standard MMA training gear as well, although the selection is probably on-par with a place like Fighters Corner. Where HNL FS really shines head and shoulders above their competition is in their bjj gear, both in terms of training gear and apparel. read more

Really nice guys (Brandon and Bryce) I just purchase my first GI. Brandon was going above and beyond with advices and point me what are important things in choosing the perfect Gi for me. After trying few, we found one that fit me well. He explain how to maintain them , how to shrink them if I need and even show me how to tie the belt. I get off work early, pick up my son from school and head over to buy him a new gi. Traffic sucks around the area and parking even worse. Finally park my car and head over, open the door at 3:55 and the guy working there says sorry we just closed. Pretty bummed out, was hoping that I could have at least had my son try on something quick and purchase but no. Lost out on a easy sale! Too bad the owner wasn't there as I have met him before and always seemed pretty chill. HNL has the bet selection on the island for gis but you know what? I went on Amazon ordered 2 gis for my son, they arrived 2 days later, tried them on and returned the one that didn't fit for free (no shipping charges). Saved some money and get better service. Went there a couple of weeks before this to buy a belt and the guy working gave me a wrapped up belt and said this should be good for you. Didn't offer to let me try it on and had no idea about the length. Wore it at a tournament and guess what? Almost got DQ'd because it was too long. oh well, screw me once shame on you, screw me twice shame on me third time- hell NO! I try to support local businesses and even expect to pay a little more but if no Aloha for me then easy to make the choice to go somewhere else. Sorry HNL fight shop. read more

walk around the corner of green papaya (restaurant) on keeaumoku, and there's a short, one-flight walk-up. at the top of the stairs, is Honolulu (HNL) Fight Shop. this is THE spot for jiu jitsu gear on the island... no question!!! they have the biggest selection of jiu jitsu kimonos - best brands (atama, vulkan, keiko, etc.), largest variety, color selection, most sizes in stock, etc.... far and above what used to be at OTM and even what's currently at Fighter's Corner. and in terms of clothing - it's a breadth of fresh air from all the TapouT, Affliction, douche-bag, skulls and gothic swords and wings. they carry quality clothing brands! for jiu jitsu players... this is the place to shop on the island, hands down! for MMA practitioners, you'll still have a larger "gear" selection at Fighter's Corner (such as bags, gloves, mitts, thai pads, etc.), but give HNL Fight Shop some time... they've only been around for a few weeks, so one can assume that bigger and better things are on the way! prices are also very reasonable (cheaper than what you would pay online, once you factor in shipping)!!! would definitely hit this spot up again!!! read more

So i guess I must've gone there on a bad day because everyone is raving about this store. So first let me say that review is based off my comparison with Fighters Corner. The employees go all out there with the gear...helping you try everything out so that you have a perfect fit and it meets whatever goals you have in mind. HNL Fight Shop, on the other hand, had some dude working there that seemed pretty clueless..or maybe he was just really overwhelmed. He had 3 groups of customers in there, all trying to buy boxing gloves. Anyway, my girl was looking for some gloves and shinpads for her and her son. The guy only asked us what was our price range. We said we didnt have one so he brought out the most expensive gear saying "this is the most expensive gear we have". I tried to ask him which was better for what she is trying to do...what was better weight glove for her to do Muy Thai, hit the heavy bag, spar, etc. He said something unintelligeble and in the end we just bought the most expensive stuff they had. Also, the parking here is horrendous. Personally I prefer Fighters Corner. Better customer service, better gear, more parking, better inventory. But this might have been an off day as I seem to be the only one here with any complaints. read more

I decided to stop by this shop trying to look for some specific boxing gloves which they didn't have. However, it was my first time there and the shop is small. On the other hand, it is super cool with a lot of awesome Hawaii themed and local MMA related merchandise from gloves to other training gear such as mits, fight shorts, shirts, hand wraps, sparring gear, apparel, and many more other cool stuff. The only staff worker there was really cool and helpful just chillin' and doing his thing. This place shares an area along with the other 2 shops in between (Noteworthy and The Firm) which you have to go upstairs from Green Papaya on Keeaumoku. It's also conveniently located right along that strip on Makaloa with all those other shops across from Walmart. I would highly suggest and recommend this place if you are an MMA fighter, fighter, training, or if you are just a fan of the sport in general in the realm of fighting.
