I helped my childhood friend of more than 30 years through a very difficult experience with ANOTHER Pool Table Moving Company who destroyed a purchased / dissesembled / moved / reassembled pool table to the point it was unrepairable. It was a beautiful Custom table no longer manufactured. (this experience DID NOT INVOLVE BILLIARD TEK!) When repurchasing a new (used) pool table, it was left to me to research for a new Pool Table Moving Company that could be trusted. Billiard Tek was among the several names my girlfriend gave me. I can honestly say, all names given I put big RED X's through and highly discouraged quickly after initial research however I was highly impressed by everything I read about Billiard Tek, Travis & his son! Nothing about Billiard Tek / Travis was found other than a stellar reputation in the "Pool Playing" community as a whole, accompanied by his pool table repair and moving / disassemble / reassemble skills. Once she made contact with Travis, he was nothing but a true gentlemen, treating her with absolute professionalism! Consumer's should note; sometimes the reflection of a company is how they'll respond to a customers prior trauma. (not received well) Travis not only did not shy away when she explained her prior experience, (which truly had been horrifying as a consumer) he was supportive, encouraging and willing to help! He was honest and fair! He more than successfully completed my girlfriends second pool table purchase / disassembly / move / reassembly. He did so patiently through all the unforeseen challenges. She & her husband were / are thrilled, as was I through the phone! At the time of the Pool Table purchase Billiard Tek / Travis completed for them, they did not care for the existing felt. True to the industry, Travis was able to offer this service, promptly providing felt samples and a more than reasonable quote. He communicated beautifully throughout the process as color decisions, felt availability and changes were made until the appointment to return to their home and professionally re-felt the table! (it looks amazing!) I live in a different state but I can speak truthfully about the traumatic experience of "a prior company" and the continued effort to find resolve which largely involved me! My friends turn to me more recently for my thorough research and phone calls made to ensure they make good consumer choices moving forward. I made these same efforts (extensively) in reference to research about Billiard Tek & Travis! I honestly can say here I only found honesty, integrity, customer service and a company that at its core is in love with the game of Pool, making what Billiard Tek strives for a beautiful thing for San Diego consumers and the surrounding communities! The love for the game of Pool & Pool Tables in and of themselves seem to run through Travis's blood and its for these reason he loves what he does and it shows in how he works and his craftmanship. I'm a firm believer in taking the time in saying something when "a job is done exceptionally well" because we don't find it to often anymore! Travis and Anthony were the only people that didn't hesitate when I inquired about moving my 8' ~700lb "Bar Box" table with a 1 piece slate. I called a few other places and they said "good luck" and that they don't/wont move them because of the weight and risk of cracking the slate. I was actually laughed at by a large shop and was not pleased, thankfully not the case with Travis! The Pros at Billiard TEK said no problem and showed up with a professional pool table dolly to get the job done safely, timely and correctly. I had an issue with my playing surface material and Travis was able to make up for my mistake, he ordered new bed cloth and was very flexible to shift to get it installed ASAP. I had the opportunity to meet Travis today while "attempting" to purchase a used pool table on Offer Up. I had found a nice looking 8 Ft Olhausen at a very reasonable cost. I contacted Travis and we agreed he would meet me at the sellers house. I made the transaction with the seller and Travis started the disassembly. I had headed home to make room for our new pool table. I'm in my car for five minutes when the phone rings and it's the seller. Travis had found a crack in the slate. We discussed it for a moment and essentially the table is worthless and the seller agrees to give me my money back. Travis could have said nothing and move the table and reassemble it and I would have not known "at first". I thanked Travis for his honesty. I asked if I could give him something for his time and he's hesitant to take any money from me. I left him with $100 for his time. This is an honest man that knows his business. I was attempting to surprise my 15 year old son and luckily had not mention anything to him. What the seller and Travis don't know is I have late stage cancer and while I still look okay, I have no idea how much time I have left. We purchased a pool table from Craigslist. Travis moved our pool table from El Cajon to our home in Chula Vista. I can't believe we were going to try and do that ourselves. He took the table apart, transported it, loaded it into our home, re-leveled it and put it back together. It took about 5 hours total with take down, travel and set up. It was so worth hiring a professional! He was SO knowledgeable and did a great job. I highly recommend him! We ended up deciding to upgrade the felt although he said it wasn't necessary. We wanted it to look as nice as possible and yet I appreciated his honesty and not trying to sell us. He didn't have the felt in stock so he ordered it for us and came back not even a week later right when it came in. He was awesome with follow up and meticulously replaced the felt which took about 3 hours. A bonus is that he himself is very passionate about billiards and let us know we got a good table at a good price. He gave us pointers and told us about his competing which was cool too.
