The island was heavy, about 500 pounds, but the team was careful and well-prepared. Before starting the move, they planned their route and made sure the path was properly protected. They covered the flooring and discussed the best equipment and strategy to ensure the island could be moved safely and securely. They were on time which was great, we asked for a team of 3 movers two of them did the moving and wrapping, the 3rd guy staked our stuff in the trailer. The issues are first all our boxes were received smashed down because they staked them without any support in between that is something an experienced mover will do but not them, all our glassware which was wrapped were smashed, the second issue is that they disassembled furniture and didn't tape the screws to the item they disassembled instead they just left it hanging, I wasn't present when they disassembled some stuff and all those pieces were missing screws the only ones that were complete are the ones that I personally tapped the screws to the item, so now we are not able to assemble some of our furniture and I have to get matching screws for them, third issue is the least important and that they didn't wrap the bottom of the mattresses so our mattresses are black dirty from the bottom which we will clean. Hector not only was very responsive and had an excellent price and checked in and answered all my questions. He verified the move days before. The 3 man crew he sent was amazing! Moved a 2 story townhome in to 4 UPack pods in 3 hours. They jigsaw puzzled the pods and packed them right and used bungee chord rope to secure everything. Stacked everything so other things wouldn't be crushed. The had a system: one person bringing things down, another out to the pods and one loading. It was a joy to watch. Most of my belongings were wrapped except bed frame and a couple of coaches which they then wrapped . They did this with precision. The adjustable bed was very heavy and needed a third guy. They did it and it was a work of art. The were also so very friendly and I learned a lot about wrapping, packing and who to hire as movers on the other side. We were moving into a place on the second floor, AND the unit itself has an upstairs loft. We are not getting any younger and did not feel comfortable hauling our furniture and big boxes up those stairs, so we were recommended to Hector and his Headfirst Movers. Hector was so easy to schedule with. We were coming from LA with the moving truck and were worried that we'd hit traffic on our moving day. He said it was no problem and was flexible which helped ease the stress of moving. This is the best experience my husband and I have had with a moving company, and we have moved about 8 times since we've been married! I am used to reserving people only to have them flake at the last minute, or show up HOURS late (which does not work when you are moving to a different state or city), or show up so hungover or wacked out on drugs that you are better off doing it yourself. This was the exact OPPOSITE of all of those horrible experiences! I originally contacted Hector to reserve help for loading our rental truck for our upcoming move to a different city in California. After that, due to circumstances beyond my control, I had to change the date and time of our appointment about 3 times. Hector was responsive and accommodating each time, and did not seem irritated at all (even though I was)! The day of our move, our 2 guys showed up on time, ready to go, and wrapped, prepped and moved all of our stuff out of our condo and into our truck (which included stairs and about a 1/4 mile walk to where the truck was parked). They packed that truck like a game of Tetris! Payment is made via Venmo or Paypay, which was super easy. Everything made it safely to our destination and was easy to unload. My husband and I needed help moving the contents of two storage units into a POD for our cross country move. I reached out to Headfirst Movers the day before our POD was scheduled to arrive at the storage facility. Hector responded to my inquiry immediately and answered all of the questions I had. Oh my gosh! These guys were life savers! Before you think I'm a drama queen, lemme explain. Haha. I moved a very long way from Colorado to San Diego. We had a VERY long drive to Las Vegas. During which, I stayed in contact with Hector to let him know of our constantly changing ETA...be it due to frequent bathroom breaks or just traffic, with long trips, it happens. What can I say -- this was the BEST moving experience I believe I've ever had -- and I'm 47 years old and have moved many times over the years. My teenage son and I had just come off a year-long stint living in Portland, OR and I was excited to get back home to Southern California. Moving back, though, was kind of an epic feat and, quite frankly, had us exhausted after a long drive in a moving truck with our car towed behind us (and our kitty cat along for the ride!). Honestly - this was the most relaxing and easy moving experience I've ever had! We very quickly had to clear out our house and put everything into portable storage and Hector's guys were AMAZING! We hired a 4 man team and they expertly wrapped all our furniture and loaded it perfectly into 2 Units in 3.5 hours - I was in shock! I was so nervous that our things wouldn't even fit and they managed to not only fit it all fast but they did so in an amazingly comfortable and professional way. The whole experience was an A+! I know...not a big deal. Movers typically reassemble your furniture. Here's the thing...some movers do shoddy work so you end up laying in a bed that feels like it's about to fall apart because they lost parts or were too lazy to get things right ...or you end up with an expensive dresser with a broken off leg. But I digress... Needless to say, none of my furniture is broken and I can rest easy knowing that my mattress won't flop to the ground in the middle of the night. I hired HeadFirst movers to help me move furniture between apartment floors. It was a very last minute thing (like less than a week before the move). I was frantically looking for movers and I was referred to Hector at HeadFirst movers. Even though he was very booked on Sat, he told me that he could squeeze me in. On Sat, he even called to say that he could come a bit earlier (like 3 PM instead of 4). That was great. Hector and Bruce showed up with all the equipment needed for the move. They worked quickly and efficently. They even took the stairs between my floors (because one of the elevators was down and the other 2 elevators were slow), in order to save time and be quick with the move. We had a last minute move just last weekend (6-11-2011). I found Headfirst Movers through Craigslist and texted them on a friday night at 10:30 pm. Hector immediately responded and confirmed my reservation. On the day of the move, Hector and Bruce was in my house 5 minutes before our agreed time ready to move my stuff. He immediately gave me an estimate on how long will it take to move all my big item furnitures and boxes into a 24' truck that I rented. He said 4-5 hours but eveything that I wanted to get moved was done in exactly 3 hours! That is because they never took a break. I had to ask them numerous times to at least drink some water or juice which they did only once. This review is for an inter-complex move we used headfirst movers for in early January. Overall: Hector and Felix were seriously amazing and I would hire them again in an instant! They are also the absolute cheapest for small moves. Price: I called at least 13 other movers to get quotes before deciding on headfirst movers and everywhere else had a 3 hour minimum while headfirst movers had a two hour minimum and one of the lowest rates. Since our move was inter-complex, we knew it would most likely take under 2 hours so it was an easy choice to go with headfirst movers. Scheduling: Hector was fantastic at being responsive, available at all times, and flexible. We originally wanted a time that was booked but Hector had a cancellation and was able to fit us in. He was available through texting or calling at literally any time I had a question and he made sure to confirm our scheduled move several days ahead of time and the day prior to the move. Moving Service: Hector and Felix were extremely fast (wayyyyyyy faster than we expected) and very careful with all of our stuff. We had originally planned on only moving some bigger items but they moved them so quickly that we ran out of things to move. We ended up frantically packing more stuff to move it up but Hector and Felix helped us out by taking everything they could that was lying around and waiting patiently once that was done. Everything they moved arrived to our new apartment in great condition and they used blankets to wrap up more fragile items. They also helped us disassemble and reassemble a desk we needed to move. We used Hector and his team to load our POD in our move from San Diego to Seattle. Hector came referred to us from another moving company and he was so easy to work with from the start. Very responsive and communicative, reasonably priced and he gave clear advice on things we should get for loading the POD (ratchet straps, moving blankets, etc.). He arrived with his crew of two other men right on time during our moving day and loaded our entire apartment into the POD within three hours. I can't tell you how hard this team worked. They worked quickly, efficiently and expertly broke down furniture, shrink wrapped it, etc. We hit a little snag at the end where we had some things that were not going to fit in our POD. Hector and his team worked to move a few things around, rearrange things and get as many things in as possible.
