Kelly's had all the promise when reading other reviews so, The only thing to say is, what happened? When we walked in we were greeted and service was quick. However, the place was filthy and for a "pub" there wasn't any food or snacks. The place is just for your basic drinks and some old popcorn and pool. read more

I had really enjoyed this place til I realized I was being double charged for drinks that people were buying for me the last 2 times I went. On the 2nd time of this happening.. them hearing "sex on the beach", tacking it onto my bill when the last 3 drinks were purchased by someone else but bc they remembered I was getting those drinks; they threw most of them onto my bill. I bring it to the bartenders attention, that she charged me for 1 extra drink. She THROWS me new tab with complete disrespect & attitude. I'm currently going through a domestic violence situation & have been distracting myself with darts. This will absolutely be the last time I come & bring any of my friends (which I've brought 2 of now in the last wk-) to this bar. this hidden gem, is exactly the place you want to go to enjoy the best American comfort bar food. Colton, in the kitchen. Phenomenal. The food is super clean. No oily taste. I used to frequent Kelly's PUB on El Cajon Boulevard between 1997 - 1999 It was different then. There was a Blonde handling the Floor Karaoke. The doorman was Mark but I forgot the Lady Bartender's name. But the crowd was wonderful and the beer is cold and Excellent Anyone was there those times ??? read more

Kelly's is a great little neighborhood pub. Attached is a taco shop that is pretty fantastic as well. All the bartenders are super friendly and pour a good drink. Great jukebox, pool tables and bar. They have karaoke on Saturdays which isn't usually my thing but fun to watches Holly Showbo jack and maria sure do know how to make a drink and treat you like you're a good friend. Sorry, the staff was great. But I went there because of convenience, and I played pool with a couple cool guys who introduced this guy named Scott. Those guys left, and he and I played. He made himself put to be quite the pool shark...but when he lost he decided to get upset. I offered him another game...(which I paid for) and he lowered himself to calling my win bullshit and addressing my play. I took it as a spoiled little girl who didn't get her way...so I walked away. This same little girl...(Scott), told me to meet him outside. I said several times I'm not here to fight. The disappointing part, is how the staff allowed him to stay. I for one would avoid Kelly's pub because they'd rather treat their unruly locals with more respect than a regular patron. read more

What can I say that hasn't been said? Walk in and it feels like you walked into THE place to be. The drinks are good, the bartenders are nice! The first night I went there with my lady after a bad experience at a previous bar, and we went in and were welcomed with open arms by everyone at the bar. Ordered a few drinks, hung around and noticed a smoking patio on either side of the bar, we went out and partook (with our drinks in hand) and were able to smoke, watch TV and chill with the others. After walking back inside went and played pool in a chill little corner keeping to ourselves and were able to play with some pretty good gear. After returning to the bar, the bartender remembered our drinks, and we met a few locals and started in the roundabout conversations and were laughing and having a great time. On their way out, people we hadn't talked to all night were saying good night and wishing us well. A few regulars we met that were cool, we bought beers for and were returned with shots! At closing, a polite last call was called and everyone started shuffling their way out. The bartender asked us if we were driving and after laughing and saying we were walking home and we were told "walk safe!" Good drinks, good music (had a mostly country mix playing, but other music was being played), a lively crowd and a good time all around. All in all I will be making this a watering hole anytime I am in the area, the comfortable feeling, with cool folks and a well setup bar makes for a great time! I suggest you make it by to enjoy the coolest place in El Cajon. read more

Ahhh Kelly's. I was a regular here for a very long time. Vicki is my all time favorite bartender. Get on her good side and you will often find yourself the receipent of whatever is left over in the shot she just made for those people over there! It's always fun, not the cleanest nor the classiest of even east county bars, but always fun. I could count on being entertained at 2 o'clock in the afternoon after bailing on work early, or on a busy Saturday night. They have shuffle board, pool tables and darts. Two smoking areas and a fire place. Decorated for every season and christmas lights up year round... can't beat that. There are many regualrs and it at times reminds me of Cheers, where everybody knows your name and you are always greeted with a "HEY!!!!" I can't wait for my Kelly's return once I have this baby! read more

What can I say it's a divey bar. That being said looks freshly renovated and it's actually pretty nice inside. They have tons of parking and food around them which is nice. Service is always quick and friendly and the locals are very inviting and friendly. I will continue to come here drink prices are great they have sports on and friendly people, what more could you ask for in a bar. read more

Cheap pool tables, laid back crowd, the REAL whole in the wall feel . . . and Karaoke!!!! The drinks are cheap to. The last night I went there was even line dancing to to silly old songs that people just kinda . . . enjoyed. AN INTERESTING TWIST.... I have actually driven by this place for years. The outside billing did not lure me in. I happened to visit for other reasons and was quite surprised. This has to be the CLEANEST bar on record. No Joke, no dust, no creepy dudes, etc. On top of that, there is a mexican food joint right next door. You can actually order and they will bring it right to you at the bar! Any bar with a food joint attached is win win, but this exceeds all expectations. You're in need of a drink, on somewhat of a budget, and you don't want to go to some hole in the wall bar with dirty everything. What better place to go than to this establishment! Came here not too long ago and it just got a new "face lift" that gives the pub a breath of fresh air. The bar is fully stocked with top shelf as well as house liquor (sorry! not a beer girl, BUT THEY DO HAVE A GOOD SELECTION!). Aim for top shelf because you're not paying for much of a difference (but do ask if you aren't sure!). Bartenders are super nice. I could see myself coming alone and knocking down a few drinks while chatting them up (haha!) :) Bar food, although I've never tried it, is typical. You're def not at a 5 star restaurant, so don't come in expecting filet mignon and a busboy, BUT from the looks of other customers who ordered food, it is def not your freezer meals either and for sure a cheap, fun time! Don't like sitting down the entire time? Hop off your chair and give the pub a whirl. There's pool tables, darts, and even a jukebox! When I'm in the area, this is my PLACE TO GO! It was my first time here but I enjoyed myself. The place isn't full of pretty people or stuck up people or people who think they're so much better than you are. Even if it's a Saturday night, it's not terribly crowded. It seems that a good majority of the people here are regulars. But it's cozy. I suck at darts, but I tried anyway. I suck at pool, but I tried anyway. The bathroom was really clean for a dive bar. Hell, I think it's cleaner than most gas station bathrooms. Music is played through a jukebox (or it was that night) so you get a pretty good mix of everything from country to rock to hip hop to pop. I only had a jack and coke here (cuz I already had a margarita before I got here). It was $5 for the jack and coke and it was pretty strong. But it was good cuz I downed that thing pretty quickly.
