Tried this spot during Restaurant Week. First off, the parking lot it limited. They offer valet parking for $30 but it goes towards your restaurant bill. But if that isn't available, you have to find a spot in the lot and then find the inconvenient sign with a QR code at a $1/hour. The bar was busy when we arrived. We were seated at a table near the windows and were able to see the amazing sunset, as well as the ferry, which both arrived and departed several times during our meal. Our server was Destiny, who was very nice and did her job well. We had ordered some cocktails which took a very long time because there was only 1 bartender attending to the crowd. As for appetizers, we chose the mozzarella steak, the garlic and herb mussels and the cauliflower bites. All were served beautifully and tasted good as well. We also asked for bread and a loaf was served warm with olive oil and a half WELL roasted garlic bulb (most likely used for decoration) but it should have been roasted a lot less for it to be used as a spread. Dinner was the steak frites, twin lobster tails and golden glaze salmon. The steak was served with a salsa verde, the lobster was accompanied by a small gravy boat of drawn butter, a half corn cob and 4 roasted baby potatoes. The salmon, was my dish and was crispy and tasty, served over broccolini stalks and purple forbidden rice. Dessert took a while to come out and we were worried that we wouldn't get back to our car for the expiration of our time. It worked out. 2 of us ordered chocolate cake and I had the cheesecake. The portions were huge! I think what took so long was that they had to open up a new cake because 1 slice was warm and fudgy, while the other was more solid and dense. Not a problem, still delicious. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

It was good. Came here yesterday for Mother's Day and requested outdoor seating. It was windy but the sun broke through the clouds which was nice. My cosmopolitan was delicious as was our fried calamari. My penne a la vodka lacked some taste. I normally like it when it's a little sweeter. My husband got the warm lobster and do not like it at all which stinks. You'd think a restaurant on the water would have good seafood. Not sure why they never brought us out bread. I saw it at another and had to ask our waiter for one. The chocolate cake was fine. I feel like this restaurant changes around a lot. Glad I got to eat here.

    Swordfish- perfectly done.

We loved our early dinner here! We only waited 15 minutes to sit outside. It was beautiful on the deck and the live music was great. Our server was spectacular with recommendations and getting food out for the kids fast. My husband enjoyed his lobster roll. I will be dreaming of the swordfish until I have it again. It was perfectly prepared and the sauce was delicious. Others claim to know how to cook swordfish but this place actually knows what they are doing. Couscous was a little clumpy but I wasn't in it for that. I will be coming here every time I want to eat swordfish from now on.

Beautiful hotel, restaurant and bar on the water with both indoor and outdoor dining. We had just ate so only had a beer and glass of wine. Sam was the bartender and while somewhat slow, he was friendly and professional. We will come back for dinner soon.

The food was 10/10 honestly. The price point is on the expensive side but thought it was worth the food and the view. The staff was incredible and so nice! We were chatting with them anytime they came by. They have live bands on the weekends and it is always a good time.

Each and every meal I truly enjoyed was paired up with excellent wait staff. Black Pearl has a large space for both indoor and outdoor dining. Music and other entertainment activities are presented at the Waterfront Patio right alongside the Marina.

We enjoyed everything. All the food was delicious. Drinks are good as long as you get them at the Inside bar with Jack. Outside bar not so great but food and service was very good overall and it was a beautiful night to sit waterside.

We went for a restaurant week and it was a great time. The restaurant has a very nice vibe. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious. Portions were super generous. The Steak Frites was delicious and so were the lobster tails.

Go for the view not the food. Staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. House drink 'Black Pearl' some kind of a bourbon with raspberry concoction that was truly dismal. The Ginger Sesame Napa Salad was little more than finely chopped lettuce in ginger dressing sprinkled with a few nuts. Still cannot figure out the Napa bit. Herb Encrusted Atlantic Salmon over promised and under delivered, but the couscous was good. New York style cheese cake was drizzled with strawberry reduction and highlight of the night. Fun to watch the ferry boats come and go, sunset was pleasant despite clouds. Amateur jazz band played outside incessantly and WAY too loud but inside we fortunately could not hear them.

Fantastic experience from beginning to end! The hostess was super sweet, and our server Juliana was incredibly kind and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious, and the views of the water, boats, and birds made the whole atmosphere even more special. Two managers including Caleb, stopped by to check on our experience, which really showed their commitment to great service. We'll definitely be coming again and again!

I came here with my friend for lunch. We sat outside by the water rather than inside since it was a gorgeous day out. An area with tables, umbrellas, and seating faces the water. We asked the hostess if we could sit at the seats facing the water, and she gave us a seat and opened the umbrella for shade. We had to go inside the bar to order our food, and they brought it to us. There was some confusion when we got to the bar; we were told we could order outside, but that was quickly resolved. They were very friendly and brought the food out. I had the enjoyable ceaser salad. I also had a drink called the black pearl, which I liked and would get again. Sitting outside is definitely a good choice while the weather is nice. Enjoy.

Limited beer selection would be the only thing I would change but you can find something that works. Wine selection is decent. We had the Mussels in a wine sauce which were very good, the oysters Rockefeller which were the best I've ever had, including when I make them, the fish and chips which were outstanding and the brussels sprouts which were also very good. Reservation was easy to make on Resy. We arrived a bit early and they took us in no problem. We've tried a number of places in PJ and we've really enjoyed most of them but I think we're going to be regulars at Castaways. It was really tremendous!

The restaurant was packed, but people were also finishing up their meals so we gave it a shot. We were able to sit outside and the outside dining area was set up really nice and comfortable with bistro lighting and even some potted palm trees. Felt more like San Diego than Port Jefferson. Inside was also tastefully done up in the nautical theme which is good to know if it's a rainy day or in the colder weather. I've read some reviews about the service and we had the exact opposite with super attentive service. Our server, Brianna came over right away and took our order in no time. I mentioned doing a dish gluten free and she asked if I had celiac. She went above and beyond making sure that my meal would be safe to eat and offered substitutions so there would be no cross contamination. I've had the condition for 18 years so I know pretty well what I can tolerate and that most places let you down and I just deal with it. That wasn't the case at all here and Brianna made sure of it. We started off with the spinach artichoke dip and this was one of the best versions I ever had. Like in the top 3 really and one the other two was home made. It was that good. I had plenty of carrots and celery to nosh on with the dip and they kept the bread on a separate plate altogether. Like I said, they really understood my condition I also had bariatric surgery back in the winter and I'm slowly venturing out in the world of solid food. So I picked the surf and turf steak and lobster sandwich. I figured I know I can handle steak if done right and I wouldn't be too bummed if I couldn't tolerate the lobster. Brianna had it served to me on a really good gluten free bun. This sandwich really worked out so much better than I thought it would. The steak was exactly to order and the lobster was super tender. I was only able to have maybe a fifth to a quarter of it. That's equally because that's all I can physically have these days and because the sandwich was beyond huge. The rest of the family's choices were home runs too and included a killer wedge salad, a perfectly cooked burger and salmon. Those were devoured so no complaints with those as well. It should be noted by the reactions by everyone at the adjacent tables were having a very similar experience and it was just a really enjoyable time. Our family is getting older (aren't we all), so diners and moments like this are so special. Castaways definitely held up its end of the bargain. I'm so glad we stopped in, and I can't wait to stop back the next time we're down port.

*January 2026 Restaurant Week*…read more My wife's bestie made plans for the (4) of us to meet for dinner. We all live close so Fifth Season Restaurant was chosen. I haven't been here in a very long time so I'm excited to see how the restaurant has stayed in business over the years. We are shown to our table upstairs. The bar area on a Friday night looks fun and active. There's great views of Port Jefferson harbor so the restaurant ambiance is nice. We're seated and are given restaurant week menus as well as the wine/cocktail list. Listen, It's Friday nite and I don't want a wine cooler! Give to me a standard Martini stirred (Shaken is just dumb) with stuffed blue cheese olives. The ladies order appletini's and we're ready to order off the restaurant week menu. The menu has a nice selection of different offerings, I'm into all things local so I'm going to start with the beet salad and Red Snapper. The beet salad was loaded with beets! I love beets, they did a good job with this started dish. I must point out, the dish must have been prepped earlier in the day. The green salad was slighty wilted when served to me. The Red Snapper, what is that sauce on top? And the fish was sitting on a bunch of zoodles?? The fish wasn't seasoned, it wasn't very flavorful. I'm eating around the zoodles, meh. The cheesecake I ordered, it was also just a standard dessert. I didn't finish the fish or my dessert. Review is over, Fifth Season Restaurant? See you in another 5 years.

The salads we felt were small for the price but were tasty. The main course was delicious and a nice portion. However the small portions continued when we moved over to dessert, which was very overpriced for what you got. The service was also kind of slow. I think they need more wait staff.

I got the replacement burger & fries and they were good - no problems this time. The burger and fries are more than enough for one person (in fact, the two of us split them and still had some leftover fries). Also, as a bonus, they gave us a brussel sprout & bacon side dish. Even though it was sweeter than we normally like, it was very good. In summary this was a big improvement over our earlier experience and we thank Culpers 1778 for giving us the opportunity to try them again.

I tried meals here on three separate occasions, twice on weekends and once during the week. My review depicts the summary of my experiences. Set back in a shopping center, the size of the restaurant is deceiving. The venue is tremendous, and the decor and bar present a welcoming environment. On all occasions, I was greeted right away and walked to my table. On one particular evening, we were seated in the back room. The first thing I noticed were how quickly the food runners were moving through the dining space. There seemed to be an urgency about their movement. The appetizers I've enjoyed were the duck arancini, mushrooms, and the oysters. All served hot, fresh, and the seasoning was on-point. The oysters came with a mini Tabasco sauce bottle and cocktail sauce. I was less enthralled by their entrees, a pattern that was sadly not a one-off or "bad night" for me. The beef Wellington was served well done, even though medium-rare was ordered. On another occasion, I ordered the surf and turf; the filet came out well done instead of medium-rare, and the lobster was rubbery and overly salted. It was served without drawn butter. They cooked another steak for me, but it came out medium (still incorrect) and had no seasoning whatsoever. A bland and tasteless filet after previously eating an underwhelming overcooked beef Wellington was enough for me to deduce that, after two visits, incorrectly cooking steak was not a mistake, but a pattern. Our table was cleared of appetizer plates and utensils, but no new utensils were provided. Our entrees were served shortly thereafter, and began to get cold as we waited for someone to come over and bring us forks and knives. We waited and asked three different people before finally getting some. All of us ordered some type of cocktail or wine with our meals, yet still drank water, and our water glasses were not refilled once during any of my visits. The staff running all over to collect dirty dishes were out of sync with the servers and the kitchen, and unable to get a pulse on the diners. I did not see a manager or any type of supervisor circulating, but these are fixes that can be easily made with proper oversight. Runners were aimlessly running back and forth and just grabbing whatever dishes were done. Their timing was way off. I really wanted to like this place and include it in my regular rotation. I thought with time they would get the rhythm of the dining room down, but I spaced my visits months apart and not much changed. I wish them well, but it will be a pass from me going forward.
