Believe it or not, this corner of Ranchmart used to be home to bowling alleys, a pool hall, and the smoke of about a hundred Marlboro reds firing off at the same time. Oh how times (and health?) have changed. It's now a sleek, modern, LA-meets-suburbs feeling Billie's Grocery. It's perfect for the area, IMO. It's bright and airy, with a good amount of outdoor seating. Good overall atmosphere, even tucked into the back corner of a strip mall. I've been to the Hyde Park location several times and enjoyed many things, but on recent days in Leawood, I've been ordering a simple sounding grilled chicken caesar salad. This was far from simple though; the chicken had that distinctive smokey, grilled flavor. The salad was not overdressed but popped with flavor. There were chickpeas, grilled romaine lettuce, and kale mixed in as well. It was fantastic. Service was nice. My only old-man gripe is that it's not really full service, but kinda half to quarter service? Like, they'll bring your food, but not the utensils. It's up to you to bus your table, but you tip 20% when you pay. I kinda wish this process was streamlined more across the board but it's a minor quibble at the end of the day. They also carry and make some nice drinks to go with it; some adaptogen style drinks, some with CBD, but most recently got their Arnold Palmer and it was perfect Too many good things on the menu, too many good bakery items to cancel out your healthy food, and really a wonderful place to go in Leawood! read more

Huge thanks to some coworkers for suggesting a meet-up at Billie's Grocery during my trip to KC. This location is super convenient for me and totally up my alley in terms of ambiance and menu offerings. Whether you are seeking breakfast, lunch, coffee or tea, there is something for almost everyone here - especially those with a sweet tooth. The bakery case is truly a piece of art. While I didn't indulge on this first visit, I cannot wait to return for a muffin, merengue or cookie. They all look amazing! I ended up with a collagen cloud latte to start and then a bit later had the sesame chicken salad. One look at the korean chicken wrap with sweet potato fries, however, and I had order envy. Everything looked and tasted great. The only suggestions I have for this place would be: a) bigger water cups! I had to go for a refill a handful of times while there. b) better wifi! I had to use my hotspot as the wifi didn't really work for me c) iced green tea. I am a huge fan of an iced green tea arnold palmer and Billie's only offers iced black tea. Other than that, this place is amazing! Staff is super friendly and service is good for this fast casual concept. There are some fun retail items for sale as well. Billie's Grocery is bright, clean, and spacious, and clearly very popular! We visited on a Monday morning, and it was already packed. The menu looks amazing, with plenty of healthy breakfast and brunch options. It's self-seating, and once you order at the counter, they bring the food to your table based on your number. There's also a convenient self-serve station stocked with to-go boxes, silverware, water, and salt and pepper. I ordered a mushroom latte, a pistachio blondie cake, and the mushroom toast, which was absolutely delicious. The rest of our table had a breakfast bowl, waffles, and a burrito. I did feel the counter was set up backwards, being my first time I was a bit confused on where to actually order but after walking past everything I found the line of people in the back corner. I expected to order where the drink pick up is near the front then travel around and pick up your stuff on the way to the table. The pastries and cookies looked amazing with large portion sizes. Cookies looked to be about an inch thick. I went with the Spicy Bloody Mary for a drink and the Carnitas Burrito for my breakfast. Spicy Bloody was good, definitely had a extra kick and is a true spicy!! Carnitas Burrito was a huge portion and packed with ingredients, Yes it is the only thing I have had on the menu but if this is any indication of what to expect I can't see how you can go wrong. This place is magical!! You would never know almost everything in this bakery / cafe is gluten free! They also have incredible plant-based options, including vegan candy bars. The olive oil cake is to DIE for! It's the type of place where you want to order one of everything because it all looks so scrumptious! Walk up to the counter and order, then they bring you your food. Brunch options are delicious (don't skip the brekki potatoes!), and the coffee bar stuff is tasty and inventive. My husband and I stopped in to try this place that was recommended due to the large gluten free menu. We were very pleased! The service was good and helpful. They have an extensive selection of desserts that are all gluten free, we tried a cupcake and a sugar cookie and a black mango iced tea and a caramel oat milk latte at this visit. The drinks were good as well and were brought to our table after ordering. It's a very busy place but we went around 2 and found a place easily since they have a lot of seating inside and out. Quite an enjoyable experience. It's very open and spacious and it's fully glass on two walls. It's a little confusing because you order in the middle back of the building (signs hang from ceiling). You seat yourself and they have a self serve station with to go plates, silverware, water, and salt and pepper shakers which was also confusing at first. The food was good! The breakfast potatoes were my favorite part as they were well seasoned and perfectly crispy, not burnt or too soggy at all. The eggs, chicken sausage, and sourdough were all good. I would've like butter for my toast. The BG Sklet was also good if you're craving a savory breakfast. The pork belly was cooked very well. Wasn't a big fan of their coffee. Love this newer location of Billie's on the KS side. My curry bowl could have used more curry flavor, but it was nice and filling and comforting on a cold day. The young woman who brought me my food & drink was very sweet and helped me track down napkins & utensils when I couldn't find them- kind of a strange layout in the restaurant. Now that they've been open for a little bit now, it seems like they have smoothed out any soft opening concerns they had. I've been on both the weekdays and weekends during peak and off-hour meal times. Yes, it can be packed, but there is plenty of seating (they may have added some) and minimal waiting. The line can also be long but moves fairly fast. They have menus to look at while waiting in line with both their drink and food menus available. Out of all the items I tried, I really liked the Spanish Steak sandwich + sweet potato fries. Asked for the steak to be medium-well, and it was cooked perfectly. Portion size is a little more than average. Their pastry options are also a must. So many options that are gluten free, nut free, and plant based. Personal favorite has to be the lemon curd tart. Service has improved as well. They bring food out to you, take empty dishes, & refill drinks that are refillable, and they work fast. There's a section in the middle of the place for you to grab your own utensils, napkins, water, and to-go boxes. Natural lighting in here is fantastic which adds to the overall ambiance of this place. Currently they have Wi-fi available, but you do have to ask. Billie's Grocery has been getting a lot of buzz around social media lately so I wanted to step in and finally try the infamous place myself. I stopped by on a mid friday morning and although it was just mid morning, this location was a little busy. Still received incredible fast service, I was just a bit surprised. I believe the Kansas City location is much busier so if you're in the area or don't mind driving to this location- i'd recommend coming here. I wanted to try different things on the menu to give an authentic and fair review. I opted to order the Carnitas Burrito, LA strawberry healer and one of their tasty looking pastries. Let's start off with the LA Healer.. there is nothing special about this smoothie. Sure, it has collagen, sea moss - nutritious properties but for $10, I expected for it to taste much better. The homemade strawberry glaze in itself was pretty good but I would rather save my money than get another smoothie. I would have to rate this a 2/5 I was recommended to try the Carnitas Burrito by a friend and i'm super happy I decided to get this. The burrito is huge and the carnitas in the actual burrito is packed with flavor. I wish the potatoes were a bit crispier to help with the overall texture but nonetheless, the flavor was on point. It comes with a small side of pico and salsa, wish there was a bit more pico but I can't really find anything to complain about. The burrito definitely deserves a 5/5. Finally ended my brunch with a cupcake that I saw in their showcase of pastries. I'm a huge chocolate and peanut butter fan so I thought this was the most appropriate thing to order. The frosting was incredibly hard and the cupcake itself was super dry. The flavor was okay but I probably wouldn't order this again.. I'd have to rate this a 2/5. The show stopper here was definitely the burrito. I plan on coming back just for this but am open to trying different menu items they have featured. Brought my girlfriend here last week and we were so thrilled to have found a new favorite spot. She is gluten free and was amazed that almost everything was gluten free. We got the cinnamon roll and my girlfriend almost started crying because she hasn't had a cinnamon roll in almost a decade. I absolutely adore that Billie's Grocery has opened up a second location in Johnson County as it's not far from my house and literally walking distance from my daughter's preschool, which has proved to be nice as it's a great place to get some work done if I'm out and about and don't want to go home before picking her up. The first time I came here I knew in general where it was but my apple maps were a bit confused and I do wish there was better signage, at least for directionally challenged folks like myself as you drive into the shopping center. For those who may be lost - it's kind of behind meat mitch so keep going and you'll find it! Once inside it's bright, airy, and really a lovely environment to sit for a while and chat with a friend, or get some work done. The day I was there I ordered a mango smoothie and although I thought the price was a bit steep ($10 + tip), it tasted great, and I knew it was made with quality ingredients so I didn't feel bad having it as an afternoon pick me up. I couldn't get the wi-fi to work, so I had to use my personal hotspot - not the end of the world, but I'm hoping to get that figured out next time I pop in here for some healthy-ish snacks and work away from home. The last thing I'll say that is a positive, is I love all the fun brands that Billie's carries. We had a really great time at this Billie's Grocery location. The dessert fridge is always fun to look at. Our party of 8 adults and 1 kid enjoyed all of our food. We each had a different dish and traded bites. We ordered chips and guacamole and truffle fries for the table. Both were flavored well, the guac being chunky and fresh and tasted nice and limey. The truffle fries were a bit under fried and therefore soggy. Still, we love a fried potato, lol. Our salad dishes were sooooo tasty. I had the spring roll bowl, my partner had the sesame chicken salad. They were fresh and tangy. One of the big draws of Billies is being gluten free and very accommodating to food allergens. Though the parking was very packed, since it was Saturday early, I should have expected it. It was a little crowded and intimidating when I first arrived, and I was really perplexed about the ordering process and where I should go to place an order. But after trailing the crowd of people, I noticed the ordering line exactly opposite my direction of entrance. The employee who took my order as well as my friend, was quite friendly and nice when it came time to place it. Since they were out of a specific item I had requested for, he was also quite helpful during our order process and even recommended an other choice to what I was getting. After making our order and receiving a number, we had to walk through the entire restaurant to find a seat, which was even more overwhelming and difficult. We ultimately spotted a table and asked a staff member if they could help us clear it so we could use it. We sat and waited for our orders to arrive. I opted for the Salmon Mezze Bowl, which was recommended by the staff who took our order. He said it was comparable to the smoked salmon bagel, but in the form of a salad, which was accurate. It proved to be a much healthier option, and just what I needed at the time. I also ordered the detox smoothie, which is not seen in this photo. It lived up to its given title without question. Although it won't be my go-to drink, it was certainly refreshing and precisely what I needed at the time. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I would highly recommend visiting this location. This new restaurant, which is located near the NE corner of Ranch Mart North, offered a variety of "organic and nutrient dense" foods and a gluten-free bakery. The carnitas bowl ($15) was brought to my table just four minutes after I ordered at the rectangular counter (look for the "order here" sign). It tasted great, with a generous amount of flavorful, moist meat, a mild to medium heat level from the chili oil, and healthy, fresh ingredients including brown rice, quinoa, guacamole, black beans and organic wild greens. I found the service to be cheerful, professional and efficient, while the dining area was clean. new and modern with hip, contemporary background music. The menu includes bowls, wraps, sandwiches, burgers, salads, smoothies, breakfast items, meals for the kiddos and gluten-free baked goods. They also have a patio and plenty of parking.
