I enjoyed listening to these beautiful waterfalls inside the Lakewood Park in Phenix City Alabama. This is a large park nestled in a well established neighborhood. I think the name of the neighborhood is the same as the park. I hate to leave this peaceful space and I can't wait to return soon.

Parking is non issue. Theres a cute park along the way, artwork... even zip lining. I loved watching the kayaks in the water. Alan Jackson I remember when Alan released this song in '93 and (having never visited the South to that point) I wondered if he invented some magical river called the "Chattahoochee" because it made for such a catchy guide vocal. Now that we've seen some of what Alan was singing about while on the "Chattahoochee River Walk" in Columbus, Georgia, it makes me wonder if the lyrics to his song could actually be semi-autobiographical. ‍ This trail runs parallel to the river and offers a consistent connection to it during your adventure. Walkers, runners, cyclists, and leashed dogs are all welcome here and from a safety standpoint I'd assign it a perfect score during daylight hours. Those with mobility challenges should not be dissuaded from enjoying it because it is well maintained, mostly flat, and easily accommodates wheelchairs, baby strollers, etc. While I typically elect to run most of the trails that we review, I quite enjoyed causally meandering along this one. We asked them about parking (no fee) and were returning there for lunch later anyway. We then hiked up Rt 190 about 50 yards and found the trail crossing. We opted to do the one on the left - I think it was Bentley? The one on the right was the Pine Mountain trail. The trail was a nice hike through the woods but never more than 200 yards from a main road. We followed it to a junction and turned right so as to begin the loop back. Since it had taken longer than planned already, we hiked back along Route 190 instead of another trail. In total, it was about 2.1 miles and took us from 10:45 a.m. to 12:05 p.m.! The trail was hilly with a lot of rocks so the pace was slow. I enjoyed the hike, though.

FDR State Park near Warm Springs, Georgia…read more Very nice state park with lots of nearby attractions to visit including Calloway Gardens and FDR's Little Whitehouse. The small town of Warm Springs had several little shops that were nice to walk through, even found some unique Christmas gifts. The highlight of downtown Warm Springs was the Bullock House Restaurant for their country cooking lunch buffet, a great bargain at $12.50 for the good food they serve. The park has several campsite areas, I believe were numbered as Campgrounds 1 through 5. The check-in building in a large CCC flagstone structure with a nice camp shop, but don't miss the scenic overlook out behind the building. Most rv camp sites we rode by were very wooded with good shade and seemed to be level. Each area has its own bathhouse. The one in our area was clean and offered two family restroom/shower room combinations in addition to the standard women's' and men's sides. Campsites in Campground 1 with numbers starting in the 100's are on or near a small lake. They did have some paddle boats but I didn't see any being rented so they could have been discontinued for the Winter. We did see several people fishing from the lakeshore. A Georgia license is required for fishing and the camp shop had a "Bait for Sale" sign. The CCC built Liberty Bell flagstone pool was also drained and closed for the season. A handful of the sites in Campground 1 are directly in the lake and some of those have full hookups. We were lucky to be in one of those lakefront full hookup sites. The park has several hiking trails but bikes are not allowed on them. It is a short drive to Dowdell's Knob, an overlook that FDR used to enjoy visiting and picnicing at when he was in the area. The foliage was still colorful but past its peak when we visited in mid-November. We enjoyed our stay in one of the best campsites we have had in a state park this year.

This is probably my favorite place in Columbus. If you love being outdoors, like I do - this has…read moregot to be the most beautiful out and back in the area. We've been getting out on it for our double digit runs. It's exudes peace, calm, tranquil, and serene vibes. It's paved, clean, safe, well lit and although not crowded you aren't often far from your next walker, runner, cyclist, four legged friend or stroller. It's the perfect place to get in uninterrupted mileage with stunning views of the river as it flows from rapids to a glistening still. There's plenty of shaded areas as well as exposed. It feels like a very gradual train to the terrain as its essentially flat but has a few bumps here and there to keep the legs feeling their best. If an active lifestyle isn't your thing, it's the perfect place to take in a picnic, enjoy stillness, meditate or read your fav book from start to finish. There are miles and miles of the perfect mixture of fresh air, sunshine, shade and quietness. We run it from the Lake Oliver trail head start (out 5-6miles then turn back for an easy 10-12) but I can easily see doubling down on it if you are looking to get in 20+ miles while still being right beside the city. On and over the water you can go white water rafting, zip line from GA to AL, fly fish, take in a INF World Canoe Championships and more! The Dragonfly has been a symbol of happiness, new beginnings and change for many centuries. The Dragonfly means hope, change, and love. I'd say this trail is perfectly named. Enjoy!

My boyfriend booked us a trip on Saturday, it was both our first time and Jackson was an absolute champ. He was so knowledgeable about the river, its history (very rich history here), and we had such a fun experience doing the classic trip. He made sure we were suited up right, checked on us, we felt safe the entire time. We've definitely unlocked a new hobby! The day was super nice, we even got to surf and float down part of the lazy river. Jackson also literally carried our group- he was very mindful of us and made sure we were safe and not over-exert as well. Will 100% be back for the challenger trip next time when I come to visit :) also zip-lining! Whitewater Express also has a lot of equipment at their store- so check it out before and after your excursion! Definitely very useful and practical (like water shoes, chacos, sunglasses, fishing gear, and a lot of outdoor gear), in addition to great merch.

We got grouped with the kids which I'm kinda glad and more nervous at the same time lol. We did a semi surf which was fun even though there was hella water in our raft already. Then we got a chance to swim at the lazy river. Vito was our guide, he was cool and funny, not bad for his first day hahaha
