The food tasted really good, we had chicken dinners and also ribs.. BUT! walked in to order food based on the recommendation of someone I met. In the time I stood and waited for my meal at least 12-15people walked in to buy vapes or small bottles of booz.... There was only 1 other person buying BBQ while I waited. The place is just plain dirty. but many BBQ places are similar. As I stood there I wondered how long had it been since a mop had cleaned the floor or paint seen the walls. I waited longer than expected. When I arrived at home,I realized I had been given about 1/2 what I had ordered. The 2 chicken dinners were there, but rather than BBQ beans and potato salad I received potato salad and macaroni and cheese. We called and received and apology...... Come back tomorrow and will make it right. Next day as I walked in the manager/employee recognized me and asked again what it was that was missing. I told him the ribs and BBQ beans....."OK, will get it for you." Guess I should have looked in the bag. When I arrived home the ribs were there but once again I received macaroni and cheese. HOW? did this happen? He asked me twice and the mac and cheese versus beans and yet I still received the wrong thing, Does it tasted ok? yes, it was cooked well. Stopped in today for lunch and picked up the Rib Tip Basket that comes with one side for a little less than $8.00. Also got additional sides to include coleslaw, beans and fries. Total prices came out to just under $13.00. Bill's is only walk up and order at the counter. There is no seating. You want to try something off the beaten track, then you should try Bill's at least once. Once I broke into my lunch meal, found the rib tips to be quite large, but were literally smothered in barbecue sauce (swimming even) - I bet there was a pint of sauce over the tips. Tips were interesting, but also hit or miss. Good flavor and nice smoke, but found quite a bit of fat. Several bites had to be spit out. That was not so pleasant. Barbecue sauce is outstanding and also serves as a great dip for the fries which are hot and crisp. Slaw is okay. Beans are flavored with beer. The taste is fairly strong. I personally do not prefer it, others might like it. So, while there were some decent points, probably not something I will get again. read more

Had a very tough, disappointing pulled pork sandwich. Beans and coleslaw was fine. Corn bread was a little weird and cakey.

No wonder there is no rating for this place. You have to be nuts to go in there by yourself and a stranger in town. (See my photo and judge for yourself) You need to go with someone that knows this neighborhood. When I got directions to this place from the car rental counter, they strongly recommended that I don't even drive down to that side of town. We ordered food through a delivery service tonight. My daughter tried the shrimp and thought it was mostly breading that tasted burnt. I ordered the brisket and it wasn't recognizable as brisket to me. It was extremely dried out and drowned in bbq sauce. It was super disappointing. The side of mac n cheese was ok but very small. I had the combo platter because I'm here from Cali on 4th of July and I wanted some bbq so bad. But this place was terrible. I ordered the combo platter and the food was bad all across the board the meat was very poor grade the chicken was salty the ribs were spongy and the sausage had the texture of a hot dog. The beans were from a can with nothing added. It was like they boiled the meat added no seasoning then just threw some cheap bbq sauce on top. Ew would definitely recommend going elsewhere read more

The worst food that I ever had. Disgusting cold,old beef bones not fit for a dog. If you are looking for one bite of beef on a fresh beef bone then this is not the place. Their beef ribs have 0% meat and it taste like it was in the fridge for a bunch of days. Best you'll find in Omaha. Omaha's BBQ scene is pretty sparse, and while Jim's is a tasty sweet/vinegar kind of sauce, Bill's has a dark smoky heat that would strip the varnish off of a footlocker. It's location is a little shady, and the atmosphere inside--Well, lets just say your order will get taken from behind bulletproof glass, and it's carryout only. And if you consider that (as of July 2012) a full slab is $17.99, it's a fair trade for the environs. (It's a gas station.) It's also pkg liquor too, just to give you a full idea. Remember--you can always call ahead and travel with a friend if the neighborhood really bothers you. The neighborhood is poor, but I don't hunt BBQ for locations, I hunt for ribs! The portions are generous, and the heat (if you order hot) builds slow and sticks to your lips. Sauce is sweet, superdark, smoky brown, and KC style. The ribs themselves are rich, tender, and fatty, but not quite to the point where the bone slides out when you pick 'em up. The smoke flavor itself is aged and rich. I consider this on par with Okie Joe's if you've been to KC. Only hotter. (I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite except for the heat.) read more

Pretty decent BBQ overall. Prices comparable to other local BBQ joints. Ribs and rib tips were nice and smoky and came with plenty of tomato-based sauce to slather on them. Note Bill's is takeout only, so you'll have to enjoy your ribs at home. Also note that Bill's also sells booze and smokes and other convenient store staples, so you might have to wait in line for a bit before you order and wait around a bit more for them to complete your BBQ order. I grab lunch here frequently. The staff is nice & a pleasure to deal with despite the crud regular rustic customers give them. The food is beyond w-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l! I usually either get the chicken or the ribs to take back to my desk. It is very good & I highly recommend it. The ribs at Bill's are delicious. They fall right of the bone. I am a huge fan of spicy eats, so the hot bbq sauce comes with a strong recommendation for those who also have asbestos mouths. It's carry out only. I introduced family and friends to Bill's as a thank you for helping me move and now I'm getting the thank yous for exposing them to one of the best bbq joints in the metro. Don't let fear of the neighborhood prevent you from trying Bill's. A previous review stated you'd have to be nuts to go in there alone. You don't. I ate here about a year ago and wanted to show some love on yelp. The BBQ is smokey/moist/tasty/cheap. Like a lot of great BBQ, it's served out of a gas station. Take out only. We had the rib tips with beans and it was fantastic. It's a liquor store and gas station and not a suburban paradise. But it's good BBQ at a neighborhood spot. So go there and enjoy it. read more

Stopped into Bill's this week after flying into the Omaha Airport (10 minute drive). Yes the surroundings are a bit on the shady side but got some great BBQ. I had the 5 bone rib dinner and my son had the brisket. The 5 bone with 2 sides will feed 2 people. The meat was very tender and I had the mild sauce that had a good spice to it.
