I did my best to avoid the prying stares of patrons sitting in their cars as I walked by and made my way to the counter. Ordering is easy- there are not many options. I suggest the 2-3 piece meal, which comes with drink, roll, coleslaw and runs you $7-9. You can request dark meat (yay). The skin is crispy, the chicken hot, and the food is ready very quickly. Okay, time to add more photos to this bomb place because the current ones on here don't do it justice. I literally waited in line for 30 minutes on a Friday noon to get my food so you best bet I had high expectations. Seriously, I saw state troopers come in, 18wheeler drivers come in, even someone got in line with a zip car they rented just to get this chicken. I got a 3 piece with a roll, small dirty rice, and a slice of German chocolate pie for all my troubles and the consensus is: It's pretty damn good! Chicken is THE BEST. Crunchy and full of flavor, obviously the highlight of the trip. The dirty rice is in one of those condiment containers people put to go salsa in so it's not a large quantity for a small and it wasn't as flavorful as I expected. The German chocolate pie didn't SCREAM chocolate to me and there are bits of coconut in it (which I wasn't aware of but hey, happy surprises). My advice? Head straight for the chicken and don't look back. I love these staple places that haven't been gentrified to all hell, and this is coming from someone who lives IN midtown. I ate at numerous places in Omaha on my visit and this was the most memorable! I did not expect for the Big Bob burger to be as delicious as it was. Soooooo, I finally made to this place that I've heard so much about . I ordered some wings some baked beans and some dirty rice. I have to be honest everything tastes good except the chicken has absolutely no seasoning and then it really blew my mind when I look past the cashier and noticed racks and racks and racks of fried chicken already cooked sitting under a heat lamp . I guess it just let me know how fresh my chicken was not going to be. All I can say is thank God for hot sauce! This is a favorite of mine. When my wife and I move to Omaha six years ago, we lived near Cuming and 30th Street. One chilly, fall night, we had a hankering for some fried chicken. I searched for one online and came across Time Out Foods, with reviews claiming it was the best fried chicken in town. How fortunate that it was 5 minutes away from our apartment. We ordered a 9 piece bucket-o-chicken and ended up with like 11 pieces (your experience may vary). It smelled so good, that we busted open the white and red box and took a couple bites. Yes, this is what we were expecting. Spicy, crispy, flavorful outside, with moist meat inside. This was some good fried chicken. Even though we live in West O now, we make it out to Time Out Foods every once in a while. It does suffer from inconsistency, like many of the smaller eateries in Omaha do, but they are generally very good. It is busy on weekend nights and we have usually ordered through the window, as do most of their customers. While there were only two cars ahead of us in the drive through, it took about 10 minutes to place our order. Place is a little dilapidated but I didn't come here for decorating tips. I must admit I was a little disappointed in the Chicken. It was really dry and there was probably more breading on it than chicken. What the chicken lacked, the sides almost made up for.
