Three Bone Special , Baked Beans and Coleslaw

No frills barbecue place. You order at the counter and they call your name for pickup. The gal behind the counter was fantastic. All three of us enjoyed the food. The corn bread comes in baggies which I thought strange but not a big deal. It is tasty. The baked beans were too sweet for my taste. It my Dad and aunt enjoyed them. The potato salad had hard boiled eggs which is always a plus in my book

Here we opted for a 3 bone baby back platter (actually, 4 bones), with cornbread and sides of coleslaw and creamy cucumbers, plus a half pound of brisket and a refillable soft drink. Both meats had light smoke and minimal seasoning. The well prepared ribs separated cleanly at the bite, and the high quality meat proved delicious both with and without the mild sauce provided. Definitely a winner. In contrast, the chunks of moist end brisket really benefited from the sauce. Indeed, without the sauce the flavor reminded us of pot roast. We would not order it again. Both sides had a fresh, clean taste, but the moist cornbread needed something to bring the flavor to life.

Food was spectacular. Melt in your mouth bbq. It's what you want when you get the bbq craving.

I wanted to specifically write a review on this place because it totally blew me away. I can't lie, when my fiancé said he wanted to eat here I was not excited but after trying the food and experiencing the amazing service, I'm a full blown bbq lover. This restaurant may not be the super trendy instagrammable place that I'm used to but holy hell is the food delicious. I had the brisket with the sweet sauce. It's essentially this amazing sandwich with shredded meat (bbq is pork, right?) with sauce. You can choose from a few different types of sauces that meet your sandwich needs. I ate the whole thing in like .3 seconds. Beautiful experience *chefs kiss*

This is a hole in the corn wall. I was pleasantly surprised by the tasty cornbread and brisket. I decided to get the fatty marbalized cut by special request with some of their hot sauce. They do give you a choice of three flavors of BBQ sauce mild, hot, and sweet. I loved the hot sauce because it had a good kick to it. The cornbread tasted more like lemon cake and maybe that's just how good it was so I got two pieces. I didn't try the baked beans because they have pork and I don't eat that stuff. There was variety of side so I got the potato salad and it was ok. They were all out of chicken and so I just stuck to my brisket. If you are hungry I would recommend the 1lb brisket versus the 10oz dinner meal with two sides. The bathroom made me feel like I was on a plane because I had to maneuver to get in the small place, but they had soap and water and just needed to warsh me hands. All in all it was a nice experience with friendly staff and no they don't wait on you...this is a BBQ joint. Go up to the counter and just order what you need. I included some pictures and definitely agree that if you are in the backwoods of NE and lookin for some BBQ without the white table cloth type of atmosphere then roll up your sleeves and enjoy. I sure did.

Coleslaw, potato salad, and pulled pork sandwich

BBQ season is my favorite season! In anticipation of moving to the lovely state of Texas, I decided to try all of the BBQ offerings in Omaha before I leave. I've lived mere blocks away from Hartland for years, and have always meant to check it out, but never had the opportunity. Today was the day! Hartland Bar-B-Que is a small family owned BBQ joint at the furthermost edge of Benson. The building is tiny, and right on the corner of a busy road. There is a very, very small parking lot in front, but more spot behind the building.Upon driving up, my senses were assaulted by the sweet smell of smoked meat. The place was packed, which is ALWAYS a good sign! The inside of the building is cozy and well kept. There are about a dozen small tables with chairs throughout the restaurant. They have a walk up counter with the menu off to the side, but printed menus on the countertop for easy reading. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We chose to get the lunch special and an additional side-a sandwich with your choice of pork or chicken, a small bag of chips and a medium drink for $6.99. The portions of meat were INSANE. My sandwich was literally overflowing with pulled pork! It almost brought a tear to my eye..nothing makes me happier than a large portion of BBQ meat! They had a limited amount of drink options-a diet soda, root beer, orange soda and unsweetened tea. Not a big deal, though. We also each got a pint of potato salad and coleslaw. Each meal came to around $11.50 and was more than enough food to share! The pulled pork was great! It had a delicately smoked flavor and was very tender. They had an assortment of sauces to add-I chose the hot BBQ sauce, and it had just enough kick to compliment the smokey undertones of the pork. The potato salad was creamy and cool, which a great crunch from green onions and pickles added throughout. Coleslaw was just ok-it didn't have as much of a sweet or vinegar kick that I like-very average. Eaten alone, it was nothing special. Added to the sandwich, it was a nice compliment to the pork! This is a great place to get BBQ at great prices. It is also family owned which I really love. I like to support local business! If you are looking for really solid Omaha BBQ, check them out!

The service was so fast and friendly, the food came out very quick, and everything was great. My favorite was the brisket sandwich, my fiancé also got the sausage which was good as well. I ended up putting coleslaw on top of my sandwich and it was wonderful! Prices are very reasonable, and it was very clean inside as well. A comfy, small area to have a nice quick lunch! I'll be back.

Star Deli is tucked away in Benson, and is open a bit later than other restaurants at all to cater to the scene of the strip. As a vegetarian, I greatly appreciate their entire list of veggie options, which allows me to feel unlimited in my options - unlike traditional sandwich shops that may have 1-2 veggie options. Star Deli uses creativity to cater to all types of sandwich desires! I tried the Jalapeño Popper this visit, switching it up from my traditional sweet potato sandwich order. As you can see from the photos, there was no skimping on my jalapeños, and they were crunchy and fresh! Not very spicy, but that is not something they can control without taking a bite of each pepper lol. This sandwich was flavorful and unique, and I would definitely order it again. The only worker quickly got 'cookin' once myself and one other customer ordered, delivering timely service without the rushed chaos of fast food as I saw him freshly chopping up the veggies. The local artwork on the walls and the location being in Benson, Star Deli is one of my favorite sandwich spots. A block away from a vintage store from the left and the right, bars nearby, coffeeshops, shopping, and ice cream, it really is prime for the day or night! I recommend the Jalapeño Popper, but with such a large menu, I will probably try something new next time, and so should you :)

It definitely has a "bar" atmosphere, but don't let that fool you. The food coming out of the kitchen is far from bar food, and so much higher quality! The staff was awesome. Hannah was the bartender/server who was there when we popped in, and greeted us when we arrived, also letting us know their top items when we let her now it was our first time there. We had one alcoholic drink, since we were there for lunch and had errands to run - it was a purple shot (but we sipped it) called the Purple Thaaaang. It was delicious and just tasted like grape Kool Aid with hardly any alcohol flavor (dangerous!), and the proceeds from the sales of that drink went to the Omaha Women's Center for Advancement (so awesome). Now, on to the food. To start, we ordered the Crab Rangoon, which I had read in other reviews was excellent, and they were not wrong! The wonton wrappers were super thin, which made the Rangoons much easier to eat - I don't usually eat all the hard crispy points on Crab Rangoon (and only focus on the crab chunk at the bottom), but not here! I ate the wonton wrapper along with the crab and it was all delicious. Another item we wanted to try in terms of starters was the Broccoli Bites. These were so tasty, and almost were like a fried version of broccoli cheddar soup! Each fried bit is pretty large, so you may have to break it into a few bites. It comes with ranch for dipping, so just be sure you are with someone you're comfortable double-dipping with - LOL My husband and I both ordered burgers for our entrees, and they were burgers just like you'd have made on the grill in the backyard on summer nights. Deceptively simple, but well-seasoned and expertly cooked. Dundee's Place has excellent staff, affordable high quality eats, and a welcoming atmosphere for all. So next time you're in the neighborhood, definitely stop by and visit them for a drink or bite to eat!

My wife and I both ordered the Everett's #2 with pulled chicken, coleslaw, and BBQ sauce. Everything just worked together perfectly. The chicken was tender, the slaw added the right crunch, and the bun tied it all together. It was one of those sandwiches where after the first bite you just look at each other and know you made the right choice. We also ordered the Saucy Rossy wings and they were the perfect heat level for both of us. Not so mild that they're boring and not so hot that you're suffering. Pro tip: get them fried and grilled. The extra texture and flavor are absolutely worth it. My wife is a total Brussels sprouts snob and she was absolutely in love with theirs. The funny part is that I'm usually not much of a Brussels sprouts person, but I kept asking for more off her plate. That alone should tell you how good they were. The fries were okay. Nothing that stole the show, but nothing to complain about either. The service wasn't the best during our visit, but they also had a 30-person table they were dealing with, so it was completely understandable. Even with that, the food was so good that it's already a top 3 meal for my wife. We'll definitely be thinking about those sandwiches, wings, and Brussels sprouts until we're back, and I don't think that'll take very long.
