Looking for Fried Chicken before heading home I came across Shug's. I got the two piece with two sides and my wife got the same with different sides. I ordered the yams. They were perfect, soft with the brown sugar flavor smackingbthe taste buds. The Red Beans and Rice is Fire. It brings a little heat. I didn't find any andouille sausage in mine, but the flavor and the rice was perfect. Solid Red Beans and Rice. The Chicken Breast and Leg. The breading was so perfect. We have been to Shugs in a long time. We came for dinner and we were very surprised this time. Our food was GOOD! The catfish was hot & fresh. The yams were really delicious and the fries were nice and hot. Our server was spot on, very patient and attentive to our table. Went to Shug's for a Saturday evening dinner. Some pretty big misunderstandings in the ordering process, perhaps partly my fault for making assumptions and not asking enough questions. I thought I was going to dine in, but a half hour later my food came out all boxed up for takeout. I thought I had ordered crawfish etouffee as the main dish, but instead I got catfish with a side of etouffee. I live nowhere near Shug's and would not have ordered takeout had I known. Unfortunately this time the cabbage was a little over cooked ( but it was the end of the day). Shugs is amazing, just out the gate. Me and my husband have been here a few times and have always been very satisfied with our experience. To start the food is incredible. They have an amazing variety of different dishes, mostly surrounding soul food. I'm originally from Houston and I absolutely love soul food and it happens to be one of the only Soulfood places I've really had or been fond of in the Omaha area. Their catfish is incredible and same with their breaded shrimp. I also really like their mac & cheese side that comes with it. The cornbread is fantastic and it was recommended to me by the owner to try and I'm glad we did.
