Bill was very friendly and professional when he helped me with my locked door. I would happily give a 5 star review....if it ended there. I called ahead and they quoted me $15 to pick a lock, and further charges if they're unable to pick it and have to try other options. Fair enough. Despite having made the appointment the previous day, they chose 1 hour before arrival to say they weren't sure if they had mentioned there was a $70 service charge for all visits. By this time, I was already too far in and it must an absolute must to get the door open, so I agreed. He arrived, I showed him the door and explained that the keys I have for the house don't work on the outer gate door(I misplaced my garage door clicker), and further explained that it was yet to be determined if the set of keys I have for the rest of the house open the actual door behind it and we'll try after the gate's open. He starts to pick the gate and I go in the house to grab my wallet so I can pay him promptly. I come back and he's already got the gate open. YES! However, he's on the ground with his arm through a dog door and says he could reach the first lock but can't reach the higher bolt lock. As said previously, I already have keys to all the regular doors of the house so I just used my keys and voila, the door was open. Fantastic! He prints out my bill and there are TWO $15 dollar charges now, on top of the already unexpected $70! I asked why and he said "Because I opened two locks". I reminded him, "yeah, but I had the keys to use first...". He tells me, "Well I don't know...I didn't try",** and waits for my credit card. I was stunned. He actually went through with charging me for sticking his arm through a dog door and turn a lock, even after I reminded him that it was unnecessary. BLOWN. AWAY. It had become clear how their "system" works with charging customers more than they had agreed to. I paid in full AND tipped but I will not ever use Bill's Lock and Key again. read more

Fantastic, timely service. My front door lock was frozen, the key wouldn't turn in the lock, although I could still turn the thumb-screw from inside. I scheduled an appointment, and Steve appeared at the appointed hour. While he was there I added several other tasks, such as rekeying a back door and adjusting the lock mechanism on a slider. To top it off, I asked Steve to make copies of several different keys. Fortunately, he had the time available in his schedule to do all of this, all the while with great humor. As a small business owner I appreciate Steve's positive attitude and flexibility. To top it off, I was very pleasantly surprised when Steve handed me the bill. It was very reasonable.
