We moved to Palm Desert late in September and needed to cut some new housekeys as we need them for family in case of emergencies since we are seniors. Who doesn't love giving business to a small local business? We read about B-OK and decided since we live in Sun City they would be a close location. The place was hopping when I got there today. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. I needed copies of keys plus tags for each of my 8 keys. There is so much to choose from. The price is reasonable and every one of my 8 keys works great! The young man helping me reminded me to keep the original master key in a special place and use this one if copies are needed. Well.... Arrived out to our condo on Friday, 111 outside. Starting tanking bags to the door, an viola the deadbolt battery dies. Not entering at this time. Called a few places, some were honest with one man show and would be a few hours, one was rude and said Monday was available. Then B-Ok, we'll the name says it all. Joe arrived in about 15 minutes, and literally tried everything. I knew the only option was to drill the deadbolt due to style and manufacturer. Joe was not too happy about this option and tried it all. Well, here comes the drill. He did it, and when all done charged a fair price which was quoted. $149. Not a bad offer especially for the time and trials of defeat my the lock. Sincerely appreciative. I kept their number, implementing his suggestion of a separate lock box and hoping not to have to use the service for this option, but for anything other lock needs I will be back. Thank you. After calling they said normally would cost $145 to fix but since I was a repeat customer would do $95. After only months!?!? They tried to charge me $125 for a $15 part for a door lock. Total ripoff. Never use them! Updated after Owner Response: Wanting support a local business, I called B-OK to get a replacement latch mechanism for a sliding door. They were very responsive and had me send a picture of the part, to which they quickly verified as having one in stock. I immediately drove over to pick it up. After matching the new part to the broken part, the person behind the counter proceeded to begin to ring me up. He then pulled out his phone and stared at it for a bit without typing anything, then said, "That will be $125." To which, I responded, "I purchased the same part less than 2 years earlier for less than $20." He responded, "that's what they charge us to the part." I responded, " I'll get it from somewhere else" and walked out. I drove to another store in town and bought the part for $17. I absolutely hate when businesses attempt to take advantage of clients by making up prices based on who is standing at the counter. I never post reviews, but this was outrageous. Relative to the owners response, the was no mobile service and no installation. Just a plain and simple attempt to defraud a paying customer who was purchasing a simple replacement part at the place of business. read more

I went in on a Saturday two have two keys made. the Rain Bird key was a standard and it cost $6.50. my entire bill came to $11.00. i handed the guy a $20. I do not have the change of $9.00. not in my car or purse, I may have dropped it is the lot, anyway I don't have $9.00. so two keys cost me $20.00. be sure NEVER to use this lock company. read more

I just purchased a used vehicle and it only came with 1 key. I checked with the dealership and they told me the backup key cost, plus programming would be over $200. I called B-OK Locksmith and had the pleasure of speaking with Elizabeth who informed me that they could reproduce my key, and program it for me for less that half of what the dealer charged. Joe and his staff did what I thought was impossible. I bought a 2005 Toyota truck with only one old nearly shaved down key and a broken fob. They made a new key that functions with the Toyota transponder security system in the truck and they got an aftermarket key fob that I brought in working. I recently had my boyfriend shop around, looking for a cheap place to unlock my car. On speaker phone mind you. I call one place get a quote, write it down. Then Call another, place same girl answers. However it was a different number and business name. So she answerd saying, didn't you just call! That was pretty rude and classless. Then she degrades us, by saying stop trying to be cheap. Don't call lock smith's call a tow truck driver! And hangs up! We call back and mentioned to the little boy on the phone about her behavior. His response was to simply railroaded us. Saying she was not rude blah blah. He then got told to f off. After he then he keeps calling harassing us! B-OK Locksmith very promptly sent a fablous locksmith, Ulisses, to repair or replace a failed doorlock and operator that prevented access to our home from the garage. Ulisses tried to repair the device which was old and outdated. There was too much damage with age, so with my agreement he replaced the entire assembly and keyed it to match the rest of our home locks. I am very impressed with this man and and his company. I had an urgent need to have a door unlocked at 730 in the morning so I started looking for a locksmith on Yelp. Called the first vendor in my area with good reviews and got a VM.
