Stopped by for a slow lunch. Looks like an old dive bar. Huge inside with plenty of seating and space between. VLTs and it seems to be a sports bar. Competitive prices and the food was decent. Surprisingly large and nice inside. Great for large groups. The menu is lacking any gluten free or vegan options aside a lettuce perhaps - but you can't win them all. This is a sports bar in Edmonton so I'm sure the Oilers can relate. read more

We keep going back because the food and service is excellent especially the Jim Wings. We have been disappointed a few times while watching Hockey or Football...the TV gets tuned to UFC so appears they are priority customers. Unfortunately that cuts our group night out short and we move on to another sports bar. read more

This is one of the only pubs in city where I can honestly say that the food is good! The burgers are really good and they aren't over priced (which makes them even better). If you like watching hockey games, football games . . . etc, then Billy Budd's is the place to go. They have so many TVs that you can see from anywhere in the entire place - and it's pretty big. They always show the UFC fights so if you go out to watch the fights (like I do), Billy Budd's is a great choice. They will charge you $10 to get in on fight night and you'll want to get there early. The last time I went there to watch the fights, I was there an hour and a half early and I got the last table! I have never had a problem with any of the servers at Billy Budd's; they all do a great job. Also, if you're into off-track betting, Billy Bud's is a good place to bet on the horses! You walk into billy budds and you immediately get hammered by the music coming from the juke box. This day it was a mix of 80s Rock and Christmas music. I guess if you want something different, you can pump a few bucks into it in order to get your own playlist. I was there for lunch and got the philly cheese steak with onion rings. The steak was cut into strips instead of shaved, so it was kind of hard to eat. It did taste really good though. The onion rings were quite good as well. A guy at my table got a pizza and it came as an awesome looking deep dish pizza, so I think I will try that next time.... They also have all day breakfast, so one guy got eggs Benny. Likely a good place to go if everyone wants something different in your group. Don't go to billy budds unless you're looking for a true Alberta bar experience. Lots of regulars, cheap food and loud music. read more

Was my first visit to this restaurant, was there to play darts, looked up the menu online to see they served liver & onions, so i arrived early to try the food. best liver & onions i've had since i was 17 and had liver & onions at a voyager restaurant near banff, that was 41 years ago, the service was excellent. looking forward to having to go there again. read more

My oh my Billy Budds! I came here for green beers on St. Patrick's day with friends. This place screams dive bar like Vladimir Putin screams kingpin of Russia! I mean there are so many UFC posters in here you'd figure there's an octagon in the basement. The good: Service! The waitress was stellar, had a sense of humor and was all around pretty awesome. Pool tables! Three of them to be used! It's like it's 1980 up in this house! The bad: Atmosphere. Just seemed dingy and like nobody put any work in upgrading this place since 1985. Some tables were wobbly. Tired looking gettlemen litter the estblishment. No life. The ugly: Food and beer. Cheese drowned most things on the menu. I had the spring rolls, nacho dip and potato skins. The last two were cheesy as heck. The beer had more carbonation than pop. Really cheap stuff I wouldn't feed to my enemy. I'm sure BB would appeal to some. But for this Arc, I've experienced much better. Given the choice of coming here again and studying, I'd choose hitting the books. read more

Friday nights is music trivia here at Billy Budd's. You pick a team name and enter your group in to play. They go through all of the eras and cover several genres. They play you a small clip of a song and your team has to come up with the name of the song and the artist. If you only get half, you get half of the points. It's great fun for a big group of people and there are prizes to be won throughout the night. The service is always great here. The food is basic standard pub fare. Burgers, sandwiches and appetizers. A good, decent meal. The only real area where they could step up their game. Billy Budd's is great with larger groups. We have had a couple of last minute large group dinner meetings here. They are always able to seat us and serve us like pros. read more

My company goes out for lunch every Friday, this time we picked Billy Budd's. Our waitress Melissa was great! She was fast, friendly and got all of our orders correct. We were a group of 11 and they had no problem accommodating us, we were able to pre-order appetizers and everything went well! I personally ordered the lasagna, and it was very good. What can I say, when it is fight night this is the place to be! I'm not the worlds biggest boxing fan but I do enjoy the sport. Mostly because my brother is a boxing coach and major fan. So, when a really big Vegas fight night happens he gathers up all his friends, gets a table at Billy Budd's. It's a bit seedy, a little dive bar-esk, packed full of TV screens every where, really fun and the crowd totally gets into it. So next time you want to watch a Boxing match and don't want to pay for the Pay-Per-View head to Billy Budd's, it is worth a go at least once just for the experience! read more

The last time I was here, which was about two years ago, I had an inept waitress, who was too busy kissing her boyfriend in the corner and not doing her job properly. She only came around once the whole night and asked, "You don't want another refill, DO YOU?" (stupid bitch) It's unfortunate that a single incompetent employee can ruin the reputation of an otherwise good business. This was the case for me with Billy Budd's. I had to come here at the last minute this weekend because the regular bar I watch the UFC in wasn't showing it. This time I had an excellent server. She came around at least a half dozen times to refill drinks, take orders, bring extra napkins, etc. I agree with a lot that the reviewer Nicole wrote about. Billy Budds has excellent food and a diverse menu to choose from, which is rare for a blue collar lounge on the edge of an industrial park. The food came quickly and was delicious. And the prices here are very reasonable. The surroundings? I never bothered to look. I was too busy watching the pay per view. Billy Buds is a great place to watch pay per views or other sporting events because they have tonnes of big screen tvs scattered throughout the lounge. There is never a bad place to sit. The next time you want to watch your favourite sporting event and enjoy some good eats as well, check out Billy Budds, you won't be disappointed. read more

Service was very poor, waitress didn't seem to know anything about the food and she seemed like she had no interest in being there. Had the chicken burger with fries and it was on the low end of typical pub food. Atmosphere was blah and the only patrons were 60++ or sketchy gambling types. Waitress was awesome. The manager/supervisor/ rude lady in charge was not. We were there for rock trivia and my birthday party but unfortunately one of my friends left her ID at home so she was asked to leave. Not complaining about that, it was the manager who walked over to where they were saying sorry and their goodbyes to make sure they left then came back to the bar where I was asking a question. Proceeded to bad mouth both my friend and the people there with me for my party, which was over 20 people. Also had the nerve to tell our waitress she was doing a bad job when she was attempting to serve so many of us and keeping my drink always full. This place is ran by some very rude people and the next time we all want to get together. It won't be at Billy Buds for sure. read more
