The pretzels are gooood... (sorry no pic, they got eaten quickly)

Time to downgrade the Duke, I'm afraid. It's been maybe a year since they changed their menu, it's boring now. I never know what to order because there's nothing interesting or new, and some of their better offerings are gone. I'd say the wings on wing night are your best bet, and the pretzels on game night. The soup can be good, but the last soup I had (beef with barley) had a ton of what was obviously leftover roast beef in it. This same dry overcooked roast beef showed up in the bulgogi tacos. There's no excuse for lousy beer selection in this town. Here it's lousy, like MGD is the best option, although my last visit it was flat and instantly gave me a stomachache. A good friend of mine was a bouncer for years and has horror stories about filthy draught lines, maybe at the Duke they leave something to be desired. They've lost a good server recently, and my last several visits we've had one who is somewhat surly and negligent at best. My good buddy who is a regular has noticed the lousy service as well. He postulates it's hard to keep good staff cuz it's Argyll and there's an economic downturn so pple are tipping less. I dunno, I always tip 20% for good service and the usual crowd hasn't seemed to thin out much. The last straw for me is the bathroom. For a while now they've had this horribly strong "freshener" in there, grape napalm scent I think. It's absolutely overwhelming, the stink coats you and fills your sinuses such that you taste it. I try to hold my breath the whole time, not an easy feat! There are so many other pubs to go hang out and catch a game with friends, there's not much left here to draw me back.

What a fun place! We were in the neighbourhood at another event and stopped in for a night cap. We had the Yorkshire pudding and it was a big serving and delicious. Plenty big enough for 4 people to have a midnight snack. Good live entertainment. Although there isn't really a dance floor, impromptu dancing occurs. Judging by thr menu it looks like a good option for dinner and a good choice for groups large or small. The live entertainment on the weekends is a bonus. Pub style entertainment, make requests and sing along!

Wow! Despite the positive reviews...I didn't see it coming. Looking for something different for eats with a friend tonight, we decided om The Duke as middle ground. What a wonderfull choice! Apparently we came at the right time. 1/2 price appies made sampling the food all too easy. And indeed, as others have stated...this is some quality pub food. I myself chose the Wasabi Tuna Tacos, and the Mini Yorkies. Both were unique pub fare, and delicious. So good infact that I added an order of Meatballs. Washing it all down with a double rye & coke, followed by an iced tea, the bill wasa measly $30. Of which...$8.50 was my liquor! Service was friendly, atmosphere was boisterous and obviously peppered with regulars. All in all, a nice experience with some impressive food at increadible prices. I will undoubtedly be back!

Happy Hour specials. $6 wing order and $10 wasabi tuna tacos.

The food quality is nothing special, although I do note that staff are pleasant and helpful, which does redeem the facility somewhat.

The food is very good, and like Cyndi C says the Mini Yorkies are the best!

Probably the best i had in the city. The Next Act is non descript with the decor. It does have a nice patio if you are able to snag a spot. Our server was prompt and attentive. Food came out quickly despite the full restaurant. This time I tried The Pyro with habanero cream cheese, bacon, crispy onions, jalapeños, and chipotle mayo. Hubby ordered The Critic - smoked cheddar, bacon, caramelized onions, and bbq sauce Our friend ordered The Scout - jack cheese, chimichurri, crispy onions, avocado, and roasted garlic mayo We all chose the fries as a side. It was delicous. And this time the fries were great and not soggy. My burger was delicious. If you like heat, this one is for you. Both other people at the table enjoyed their burger as well. I saw someone have the mac and cheese, and that looked delicous. However I don't think I can skip the burger and order something else.

We were luck to slide through the front door 15 minutes before the kitchen closed for the night and order a burger to go. We got the Critic with a side of poutine and scurried back to our hotel room with our secured goods. The burger was amazing and exactly what we needed. The patty was substantial with a great crust against the sweetness of the caramelized onions, all between two pillowy soft buns. The burger was also huge, as it was double the size of what you would get an the golden arches. We got back fast enough that the poutine fries were still crunchy with a curds melted into the thick gravy. So happy that The Next Act was open at our moment of need. Forever grateful.

We almost got up and left. Then it took a while for the food to come out even though it appeared like we were the only ones eating. Then we had to go up and ask for the bill and pay because no one was visible. Not impressed at all. It is cute inside and was nicely decorated for Christmas. Food itself was fine. I had the beef dip. They were skimpier on the meat then previously. The fries and the dip were really tasty. My husband had the chicken sandwich It was tasty but the patty seemed a little small. We are not sure if we hit a bad afternoon but we will give it another shot sometime.
