This is a great local bar and grille with the classic pub menu. The burgers were awesome and a hit with the kids. Service was also very friendly. Kaylee was the best!! And if you leave room for dessert they have blue bell ice cream and milkshakes!!

I liked everything! We are always looking for something new to try. While I no longer live in B/CS, I love coming back to things that I enjoy and miss. And especially when we find a place that we had not dined at before. We found Billy's on Yelp and thought it would be a fun evening out, so there we were. Billy's was quite the surprise. First, I noticed the caricature on the front of the menu. I thought, gee, he looks familiar. After reading the story about Bill Schulman on the back, my hunch was correct. As a child and young man, I had been to the Schulman family theaters in Bryan many times. I have vivid memories of the Palace and Drive-in. This will date me, but we used to have to call the theater to hear a recorded message of shows and showtimes. I'll never forget Mr. Schulman's voice announcing the show as "Hotel Hell!!!" I am appreciative of the many years that this family has dedicated themselves to our community! That said, in addition to the pleasant ownership surprise, I really liked the restaurant. There were two young lady's that served us. Both were very pleasant and attentive. I did ask what the store used to be, but they were unsure and thought it was an ice cream bar. After speaking with my dad, he said it was Jarrott's Pharmacy. It made sense then. Jarrot's was a Pharmacy and soda fountain. Wow, it had been years! Okay, on to the menu. They had a diverse menu with a little something for everyone. Also, there was much in the way of Texas fare which I really enjoy. I ordered the Chicken-Fried Steak and a tall class of beer. My wife had Billy's Cobb salad with fried chicken strips. I thought my Chicken-Fried Steak was as good as any that I've had in the area. The cold beer didn't hurt either! My wife said that she loved the Cobb salad. We had eaten pretty heavy on our trip, so that salad was just what the doctor ordered! We had friends with us who really enjoyed their meal as well. I loved it all. The history, food, drink and service. Yes, I will be back with each trip home to Bryan! Thanks Schulman family.

    Migas

I went with my neighbor for breakfast because he had been raving about this place and goes often. I must say that, for the price, the portions are very good. We were sat very quickly but the service was lacking from thereon out. My friend had to shout to get an iced tea refill and I never got the opportunity to ask for hot sauce for my migas. The migas as a whole was underwhelming yet filling. The salsa tasted like it was from a jar and the tortillas were store bought and flavorless. I would not order that again. Still, I think the place has potential and I would love to give it another go. Those potatoes...just you wait.

    Chicken Bacon Chicken Ranch Wrap

Service was great! Love the atmosphere. As you can tell in our photo, the spicy pickle chips were our favorite. Definitely give those B+ with the sauce! I got the chicken bacon ranch wrap which was a basic wrap with basic issues. Too much tortilla, only 5 pieces of chicken chunks and a whole lot of lettuce. I would give this a D-. Although it had decent taste, it was just very inconsistent within the wrap. The mushroom burger was delicious! Great flavor, great consistency. Definitely giving it an A. We both chose the sweet potato fries for our sides. Depending on the individuals preference in texture is going to depict if you love them or like them. The flavor is great, lightly salted while capturing that rich sweetness with a creamy inside. I thought they were amazing, but my spouse loves her fries crispy and she wasn't a fan of the texture. I believe when including both of our opinions we'll give the sweet potato fries a B. Overall, Billy's Grille & Bar is receiving a B+. Everything was great, only take away would to avoid the wraps unless you love carbs and maybe ask them to add a little more of a certain included ingredient. Anyways, hope you enjoy your meal and God bless.

This was a fun surprise. Seemingly ran by young, yet professional college students. Lol it gives a neighborhood vibe. The staff offered great suggestions, were helpful, accommodating and provided great unexpected conversation. Lol The cucumber margarita was the best I've ever had. The spicy friend pickles were nicely flavored and the coconut shrimp were perfection.

We were BLOWN AWAY by the number of college students, dressed in their Sunday's best, openly praying over their food before enjoying some awesome chicken. It was SO NICE TO SEE! We ordered a family meal (20 pieces), 2 sides of fries and a chicken sandwich meal. We paid around $40. Great value! The food came out quick and arrived hot and fresh. I had a slight "issue" where I thought my chicken wasn't fully cooked and the manager reassured me that it was just breading but happily remade my sandwich to give me peace of mind. I REALLY appreciated that. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, literally leaving "not a fry left behind." The size of my chicken on the sandwich was HUGE- had to be hanging off the roll by 2" on each side! Staff were phenomenal. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Love the laid back decor. Plenty of seating inside and some tables outdoors as well. Definitely recommend!

Garlic Burger w/ Garlic Fries- if you're a garlic fan, this was packed with a pretty strong garlicky taste. Superman w/ Garlic Fries- large and flavorful. We got a combo with all garlic fries and a refillable fountain drinks. The burgers were made fresh and so juicy. The garlic fries were ridiculously delicious. The drinks were Texas made and they delicious. I loved the strawberry cream soda or the orange cream soda. Lots of different burgers and desserts to choose from. We checked Yelp for something other than Mexican food and this place had really great reviews. As soon as we walked it we knew it was going to be good. The menu isn't too large, which to me meant that they have spent a lot of time perfecting the things that are on the menu. The service was really good and as soon as we sat down, we ordered a couple of sodas and the Boudin balls. We took a couple minutes to look at the menu and everything looked really good, but the spicy chicken sandwich was really calling out to both of us. So we ordered those one with potato salad and one with rice. The Boudin balls were delicious. They were pretty large in size and the sauce that it came with had a little bit of a kick to it. My favorite thing was that it was mostly meat on the inside and the flavor was incredible. Same with the chicken sandwich. It also had a kick and by the time I was done my mouth was pretty warm. I thought the potato salad was a great way to help cool it off, and it was just as good as the sandwich. I loved the batter on the chicken, and I thought the bun was toasted perfectly. This would be a place I would go to regularly if I lived in the area. When I tell you the spirit of Louisiana and NOLA was in the place! So you will miss the place if you aren't paying attention. The sign is small and the building looks like it used to be a church fellowship hall. It's not fancy and it's small, however, don't discount it. Don't judge a book by its cover and great things come in small packages. It's a family owned and run business. By the looks of it, it can probably seat 40 people and I'm pushing it with the number. However from the time you walk in until the time you leave, you feel like you're at your great aunt's house. It was five of us and when you walk in, it's seat yourself and first come, first serve. The food came out piping hot and cooked fresh. My husband and brother-in-law got the catfish platter with red beans and rice (no pork) and Mac-n-cheese. My sister and I got the Nawlins boil that had a crab cluster, shrimp, corn, potato, boiled egg and a sausage link. My nephew got a shrimp po-boy with fries. The food was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The fish and fries were crispy. The Mac-n-cheese isn't creamy but it isn't dry. Perfect amount of cheese and flavor. The red beans and rice had the perfect balance of flavor. The boil...my goodness the boil. They have the amount of the boil down to a science to make it a full meal. At first glance, I didn't think it would be seasoned well because the season looked like a dry rub. It wasn't saucy or juicy - until I took my first bite. I almost walked to the kitchen to kiss the cook. They are not skimpy on any of the food either. Even the po-boy had an overload of shrimp. When we were there, it was a packed house. There was also a large party who was rather disgruntled - not because of the service or food but because they were impatient. Remember this is a family owned business with 2 servers and maybe 3 cooks that cook to order. So if you're looking for quick food, this isn't the place. If you have time to sit, enjoy some great food with great company in a casual home style restaurant...this is your place.
