Can't believe i haven't written a review already- i had been for lunch a while back with a friend and loved it- we sat outside which was super nice. The location is kind of hard to find. You have to go pack in the right parking lot. There are signs for bar and grill (doesn't say madden's). If you loved the old madden's, you'll love this one! It has a different more updated desk restaurant so a different environment but most of the famous peter madden favorites are on this menu. They recently brought a dinner menu. Ok so let's review my second experience here. Waitress was super attentive and nice. My only critique was that she didn't inform us about an extra charge when we asked for something. It's nice to be given a heads up about being an additional cost. The food was good though- i always appreciate it when they split the food in the back so my husband and i don't have to try to separate it. We split the fried chicken which was tasty- plenty of food to split but we still had a little room for dessert so we tried the bread pudding. It was great! Perfectly sweet but not too sweet. The kids meals are a great value and amount of food. I was disappointed to learn that they use vegetable oil for their salad dressings with all of the knowledge coming out about those being inflammatory- needless to say it caused us to not order the salad. Overall, I definitely recommend Madden's and hope they get enough traffic to be successful! We will be back! read more

The service was great and the ambiance was calm, elevated casual dining. We went on a Tuesday so it was a bit slow at dinner time. We ordered the tenderloin bites for an appetizer and it was phenomenal from the cook to the sauce. However, it's a tiny portion of about 4 bites for $17. I had the snapper as my entree and all the elements of the dish were good except (sadly) the fish was overcooked and tasted a bit rubbery. For the price of the dish I expected a delicate, melt in your mouth type of fish and it wasn't that. My husband got the fried chicken entree and it was absolutely delicious including the sides and was a very healthy portion. We would order that again. Overall, we had a good experience but the meal was on the more expensive side and with that comes a higher level of expectation for the food that I felt was only half met. read more

Great food, ambience and excellent attentive service just like the former Madden's in downtown Bryan was. The new location is at the Phillips Event Center on the first floor. It's a little hard to find as there is no entrance signage. I found it's best to park in the parking lot on the right as you enter and walk around to the golf course side and enter through the outdoor patio. I had the lunch southern fried chicken that came with mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans. I also had a cup of poblano cream soup that I washed down with a glass of Voodoo Ranger that they have on tap. Everything was delicious and worthy of the moniker, "casual gourmet". Now that I've finally found the new Madden's, I'll definitely be back. read more

This is a long review because they deserve it! This restaurant is located at the Philips Event Center (formerly Briarcrest Country Club). The meal I had there at lunch was one of the best plates I've ever had anywhere. I ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes, cooked cabbage, cornbread and gravy. The two pieces of meatloaf were cooked on a grill and all the sides were delicious. I highly recommend Madden's because of the atmosphere-overlooks the golf course and you can carry on a conversation without raising your voice. The service was excellent-our waiters looked like they enjoyed working there and answered all our questions. read more

My good friend came from out-of-town to treat me to a belated birthday. She had dined at the original Madden's a couple of times and really liked it (as did I), and she was happy to try the "new" one. My husband and I had come for dinner several times but not for lunch. I had ordered the bacon avocado grilled cheese at the original Madden's and Urban table and decided to have it again since it was so good. What a shock I got!! The sandwich that was delivered to me was nothing like the ones I had previously. The slices of bread/toast were quite narrow and extremely thick, and the filling was almost nonexistent. I would estimate that the ratio of bread-to-filling was somewhere between 90%/10% or maybe 85%/15%. I couldn't believe it but didn't want to make any kind of a scene (or take a picture of it) with my friend there. Fortunately, she had ordered the Cobb Salad, which was huge and looked delicious, and she confirmed it was really good. I can't say it was enough to keep me away, but I will certainly be more careful about ordering in the future. read more

Excellent food, low key atmosphere and reasonable prices- it doesn't get much better than this, especially with the view of the golf course. It was a little hard to find the entrance. The restaurant itself is at ground level, while the Catering hall is on the first floor. We wandered around a bit until we found someone who pointed out the elevator going from the first floor down to the restaurant. But I'm glad we persisted because it was worth it. read more
