The food was excellent! Service was okay. They didn't give us the Wow Experience. But I would go again. It's pretty pricy. My milk was $3

Original French Toast

First time trying this place. We had a great brunch. Their French toast was super tasty and well served, but without a doubt the star of the show is the chicken and waffles. Their hot chicken is a must although the regular fried chicken is great too. The waffles are crispy and doughy at the same time, and the fresh syrup goes perfectly with both. The staff was helpful with their recommendations and quick service and the place has ample sitting inside and outside, although you might experience wait times specially during the weekends.

Had a really good yogurt parfait! For a Saturday morning the service was very fast and place was clean! Always a great spot on century square! They also have a lot of drink options and is a solid breakfast spot!

Mess Waffles is a fun, casual breakfast/brunchy place that has some yummy options. My family and I visited while moving my brother into college at Texas A&M, and I thought it was a great way to have a nice meal together to kick off the day. However, the dish I ordered wasn't my favorite. The waffle was sort of plain and I wasn't in love with the potatoes (they had a sort of chemically taste that might've come from the cooking oil used). My brother ordered their caesar salad wrap with grilled chicken. I had a bite and was honestly really impressed. If I were to return, I'd definitely order that instead of the chicken and waffles I had this time. Overall, I liked the vibe and would return if/when I find myself back in cstat. I'm just not really rushing back for the same order, though.

The waffles were great, crispy and soft. The chicken was also good but not great. I ordered the hot chicken but since they had two degrees hotter I didn't expect them to be this spicy (even though I like spicy, this was a bit too much for me). I didn't really understand regular vs plus for chicken & waffles but had ordered the plus and received two sauces, 3 chicken tenders, and 1 waffle. I think the regular would have been better as it was definitely a large portion (great price). The staff were nice and helpful but wish they came to see how things were while eating (it is a tip at cashier style diner). Overall nice environment and good breakfast spot.

I thought Mess Waffles was good! The food was good, the tables were clean, and the inside was well-decorated. As with most breakfast places, you can make the same food at home. However, the "vibe" and ambiance make it an excellent choice to meet a friend for breakfast/brunch. I had the Chicken and Waffles which I've never had before and I was pleasantly surprised - I never imagined the combination between a sweet and savory food would be good. There isn't a huge amount of staff floating around but I didn't mind. I bussed my own table and filled up my water at the soda machine - there's no real need for a dedicated table staff. I'd rate it 4.5 stars if possible but chose to round down to a 4 to save my 5's for when I really had my socks knocked off!

Yum! I love their waffles and portion is just right. Very casual spot, and they have patio seating. The booth tables are too close together though. Service is friendly and you just order at the counter. Price is decent. I'd recommend!

My husband and I love trying new places wherever we go, and we're so glad we found Mess Waffles in College Station! We both really enjoyed our food--the chicken and waffles hit the spot--and the coffee was a great complement. The service was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. The atmosphere is relaxed and chilled, perfect for a casual brunch or just hanging out with good food. Definitely a spot we'd come back to next time we're in town!

Brisket spaghetti

Ordered the Brisket Mac. Tasted alright, but I noticed a major issue. The brisket was sliced with the grain instead of against. Someone tell these people how to cut meat! Looked like pot roast (May have been in actuality)

chicken and waffles (spicy)

mess is honestly the quintessential texas a&m brunch spot. here's a quick breakdown of my favorite menu items: chicken & waffles: - whether you get the chicken spicy or not, they come crispy, juicy, and pair excellently with the fluffy and hearty waffles. - i've tried each of the options for sauces / syrup replacements and my personal favorite is the aioli, it adds a nice tang to each bite similar to a sweet honey mustard (and if that sounds weird with waffles, just give it a shot, it cuts through the juice of the chicken and the fluff of the waffle and really ties each bite together nicely) iced coffee: - for the price, it did not taste bad at all but it was just too expensive for the portion size, in my opinion. although, i realize the price is more or less in line with other brunch spots in the area. buffalo mac & cheese: - everytime i bring my younger brother here, this is what we go for. it's a perfectly cheesy, tangy, and gently spicy mac and cheese with chicken in it. we absolutely love the choice of macaroni noodle as well as consistency of the cheese. generally, mac and cheese can mesh together as repetitive bite to bite when there isn't enough variation from bite to bite, but with the chicken, pockets of buffalo sauce, and pockets without, each bite feels fresh and definitely registers this mac as one of my favorites anywhere. note about ambiance, service, & seating: - service is consistently solid, friendly staff! - seating can get PACKED during typical brunch hours, outdoor seating is available if the weather permits but get there early if you want a good shot at getting a seat, or just wait for one to open up:) overall solid 5/5 brunch spot and my favorite that i've been to in texas tied with the breakfast klub in houston!

I had to seriously consider the awarding of a second star and I've decided to do so based on cleanliness and ambiance. These are really the only positives. Staying at The George and here with my daughter for a college tour, so this place was highly rated and nearby. I'm truly shocked anyone could rate this 4 or 5 stars. The problems don't seem to just be a bad day. The food was room temp (waffle/syrup was a little cold) and honestly inedible and not worth the calories. I don't even know what to say other than it's remarkably similar to the McDonalds breakfast plate (McDonalds is better due to the pancakes). Dry/cold bacon. Eggs equivalent to free breakfast at an elementary school. These little hockey puck hash browns fried in old grease and cooled to room temp. The service was totally invisible and flippant. Never greeted. Had to wait at counter for someone to show up. Stood there with zero affect and plugged in order. Immediately left counter before I could ask for a cup for water alongside my coffee. Another customer tried to get someone's attention while they were running food and they outright ignored her. Staff members came out and refilled their own coffee cups and drinks to take them to the back but couldn't run food while it was hot. If you see my other reviews, you know it's exceedingly rare for me to give a low review. I feel it's not always fair to business owners. But someone is asleep at the wheel here. Maybe it's surviving on location and lack of competition. I really can't believe how bad the food was. I wouldn't even know how to tell them to fix it but I never even saw a staff member to ask them to heat it up. Figured that wouldn't even make a difference. Basically just lit $20 on fire and watched it burn

Cookie butter waffles, vegan mac and cheese with sausage, Nutella french toast, apple pie waffles

Busy place for brunch on Saturday mornings! Has a casual vibe with a nice outdoor seating area. Decently fast service, friendly staff. The meal size portion is large for the waffles. Right level of crispness and sweetness for the waffles and French toast. Comes with choice of one fruit topping.

Gave this place a try after looking for a brunch spot. This place did not disappoint. We all left full and happy! Everything we ordered came out promptly and correct. I did have to ask for a side of maple syrup. They brought it out right away. Great value for its price. I will come here again.

We were BLOWN AWAY by the number of college students, dressed in their Sunday's best, openly praying over their food before enjoying some awesome chicken. It was SO NICE TO SEE! We ordered a family meal (20 pieces), 2 sides of fries and a chicken sandwich meal. We paid around $40. Great value! The food came out quick and arrived hot and fresh. I had a slight "issue" where I thought my chicken wasn't fully cooked and the manager reassured me that it was just breading but happily remade my sandwich to give me peace of mind. I REALLY appreciated that. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, literally leaving "not a fry left behind." The size of my chicken on the sandwich was HUGE- had to be hanging off the roll by 2" on each side! Staff were phenomenal. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Love the laid back decor. Plenty of seating inside and some tables outdoors as well. Definitely recommend!

I chose the hottest seasoning they had--pretty sure it was ghost pepper--and yeah, it was spicy but didn't make me miserable. There was a lot of food, and it definitely filled us up. My wife got mac n cheese with hers and really enjoyed every bite. The cashier was nice and attentive. The atmosphere is great for a lunch or dinner date. Plus, they have large booths, which we really appreciate.

We checked Yelp for something other than Mexican food and this place had really great reviews. As soon as we walked it we knew it was going to be good. The menu isn't too large, which to me meant that they have spent a lot of time perfecting the things that are on the menu. The service was really good and as soon as we sat down, we ordered a couple of sodas and the Boudin balls. We took a couple minutes to look at the menu and everything looked really good, but the spicy chicken sandwich was really calling out to both of us. So we ordered those one with potato salad and one with rice. The Boudin balls were delicious. They were pretty large in size and the sauce that it came with had a little bit of a kick to it. My favorite thing was that it was mostly meat on the inside and the flavor was incredible. Same with the chicken sandwich. It also had a kick and by the time I was done my mouth was pretty warm. I thought the potato salad was a great way to help cool it off, and it was just as good as the sandwich. I loved the batter on the chicken, and I thought the bun was toasted perfectly. This would be a place I would go to regularly if I lived in the area. When I tell you the spirit of Louisiana and NOLA was in the place! So you will miss the place if you aren't paying attention. The sign is small and the building looks like it used to be a church fellowship hall. It's not fancy and it's small, however, don't discount it. Don't judge a book by its cover and great things come in small packages. It's a family owned and run business. By the looks of it, it can probably seat 40 people and I'm pushing it with the number. However from the time you walk in until the time you leave, you feel like you're at your great aunt's house. It was five of us and when you walk in, it's seat yourself and first come, first serve. The food came out piping hot and cooked fresh. My husband and brother-in-law got the catfish platter with red beans and rice (no pork) and Mac-n-cheese. My sister and I got the Nawlins boil that had a crab cluster, shrimp, corn, potato, boiled egg and a sausage link. My nephew got a shrimp po-boy with fries. The food was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The fish and fries were crispy. The Mac-n-cheese isn't creamy but it isn't dry. Perfect amount of cheese and flavor. The red beans and rice had the perfect balance of flavor. The boil...my goodness the boil. They have the amount of the boil down to a science to make it a full meal. At first glance, I didn't think it would be seasoned well because the season looked like a dry rub. It wasn't saucy or juicy - until I took my first bite. I almost walked to the kitchen to kiss the cook. They are not skimpy on any of the food either. Even the po-boy had an overload of shrimp. When we were there, it was a packed house. There was also a large party who was rather disgruntled - not because of the service or food but because they were impatient. Remember this is a family owned business with 2 servers and maybe 3 cooks that cook to order. So if you're looking for quick food, this isn't the place. If you have time to sit, enjoy some great food with great company in a casual home style restaurant...this is your place.
