Billy's feels like my Texas. The people behind the counter are warm and welcoming and so are the other patrons. I came in by myself and was lucky enough to share a table with a stranger. We both shared a nice meal and a good conversation. The food was excellent and I would order the same thing again with zero revisions. Life is short, get a slice of pie.

Solid. It's like going to someone's house for a bbq. solid. This is more old school bbq. Not your craft bbq that's taken over Central Texas. Ribs (and potato salad) are solid. Brisket and sausage would not be my choice here.

Stopped here for a quick bite. Interesting to see that they have mutton on the menu. The lean brisket and the ribs were good, but the mutton was a little too fatty for my taste.

If you're ever in the area and get a hankering for some of the absolute best barbecue in Texas, I highly recommend you stop by Billy's and try out what he's cooking! Great food, all the sides and even dessert, if you still have room for it!! You won't be disappointed!

Just average bbq that is overpriced. One of the employees touched their face (eye or nose, can't remember) and grabbed slices of bread afterwards. I ended up tossing the bread and just asking another employee for more. I had been here a few times over dozen years, and it's not as good as when I first had it years ago. The owner is still there and active in day to day operations. I won't be back. There's lots more bbq joints with higher standards.

Stopped at this place by happenstance. Best decision ever!!! Great food and a cozy relaxed atmosphere. Friendly service. Melt in your mouth beef! Wish it wasn't so far away.

Solid BBQ that's worth the extra few dollars. I always get my orders to-go but the service is always friendly and efficient!

Best barBQ around. Why go to Austin when you have Billy's. The Ribs are amazing as well as the brisket.

And the place is a time machine, rolling back the decades. Little has changed here in the past three quarters of a century, which makes it very charming. They have farm-fresh eggs, locally-grown salad greens, sausage, cheese, breakfast tacos, baked-from-scratch pop tarts, Texas pretzel bread and other items in this small store, without feeling crowded. At the coffee bar, I had a cortado (Spain's take on a cappuccino -- equal parts espresso and steamed milk) along with a little chocolate truffle. We also picked up some Opa Klein's amazing summer sausage and a six pack of Stash IPA to go. We're coffee snobs. We'll be back for the best cuppa joe in town, at a minimum. Special thanks to Mike K (one of Tracy's baristas) for telling us about this place as he serenaded us during brunch at downtown restaurant. He's a very talented guy, and very proud to be associated with this quaint and historic Bastrop fixture. You know you're doing something right as a business owner when your staff naturally delivers your best and most effective marketing, just from the sheer enthusiasm and pride of working there. So, yeah, it's a tiny little time warp, but it's well run and worth coming to, especially if you're into great coffee.

He was really nice and welcoming, and he really wants to turn this coffee shop around. I had been here before when it was owned by someone else, and the coffee was alright then, but both Sunday and today's coffees were amazing. I ordered a gingerbread latte on Sunday, and today it was a caramel latte, and both were the right amount of sweet without it overpowering the coffee. Under the previous owners, I couldn't really taste the flavor too well, just sweet coffee. I also bought a blueberry muffin both times, and I highly recommend them. I will definitely be going back!

I love a good light roast coffee. They have the most fun notes, flavors, caffeine. Needless to say, I've struggled with the options in Bastrop for a while... Tracy's sources a two solid medium roasts from Progress that's decently fun and flavorful... Texas Coffee Works hasn't really blown my socks of yet either... All that to be said, I'm still on the hunt for the best local Light roast. To my surprise (previous owner's coffee was not it...) Coffee Dog recently started selling a really good "Zombie Defense Serum" roast (dorky, kina funny name, but with an unfortunate AI art generated sticker)... It's delicious! Has a good acidity, it's fairly bright, and there's some fun notes in it. I wish I knew what day it was roasted (the 2 week carbon release rule), but I do think it was fresh and hadn't had the chance to release all of its carbon. I'd be interested to see what it tastes like in peak form. Give the ole Zombie Serum a try and support local. Even if they use AI art for their coffee bag designs...

Just happened yo stumble upon The Gas Station and decided to check it out. If you love horror films, you'll dig this place. They have so many cool things inside. Tons of rad horror toys and posters and just stuff! I had so much fun just checking everything out. We were quick to find out that it was also one of the filming locations of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The gentleman at the counter was so enthusiastic and informative! It was awesome hearing him geek out over stuff with my boyfriend. After we geeked out over everything, we ordered a brisket plate with a side of coleslaw and beans. Food came out pretty fast. They don't have a dining area inside, but out back they have some picnic tables. He dug into his plate on site. Everything was pretty darn good, especially for a place called 'The Gas Station' hah.
