I've taken a purse to George's shoe repair. And George worked his magic. I have fallen victim to a new puppy I wish I took before pictures but I missed the opportunity. Now these aren't expensive shoes. These are good old, trusted Steve Madden's. But they were so comfortable. Like an all day heel. George brought them back. I've also taken an old purse that's 13 years old. One of the stitches came u done at one of the loops. Just when you think there aren't any more classic, shoe repair places left, you find George's and everything about it feels nostalgic. The decor is well, it's a shoe shop--they didn't "decorate", but they have everything you need--like an old school shoe repair should. He had re-soled my boots, repaired handbag handles and added taps to my "good" heels. George is kind, likes to talk and always gives a reasonable time frame that your item will be fixed. If you need professional shoe repair, George's Shoe Repair is the place to go! I had taken a couple of pairs of boots to a closer tailor/shoe repair shop. All they knew how to do were heels. I needed more done to the shoes than just that. This guy was able to make one pair almost as good as new. The other pair? Well, I didn't realize how bad of a shape they were really in. However, George made them look great. No one would ever know what a beating I've given them unless they saw them up close. It's so hard for me to find boots that fit me right, so when the zipper popped open on my favorite pair, I worried it was over. I brought them to George's to see if the zipper could be replaced, but it turns out my current zipper could be saved! Excellent work replacing heels and soles on my boots for several years. Highly recommend.

If you have a simple resole, need caps or toe taps on your high heels, or need a shine on leather shoes, come here and they will take care of you. Basic leather made shoes are their bread and butter. If you have unique shoes, shoes that have mixed materials, or a different type of construction, don't come here. The expertise needed just isn't here. I needed heel caps put on heels shaped like a unicorn horn - did a seamless job but used very cheap looking caps that don't fit the expense or style of the shoe. They didn't have the paint/finish to properly cover the scuffs on the shoes. I could have waited until they found the paint and would have paid an up charge for the extra work and materials - nope, they just used what they had and it's alright, but not sealed. Then a pair of hand made suede shoes from England. The heels had snapped off and caused part of the under-sole to come off. They reattached the heels, but did nothing for the under-sole, which is still bubbles between the toe and heel attachments. There was also random spots of glue and polish(?) on the suede. It's a half sloppy job. They tossed both pairs of expensive shoes in a paper bag and handed them to me. They wouldn't take the boxes I had initially brought them in and just figured they had their own packing - nope. Previously, I brought them a pair of boots to resole. I thought they did a good job, but again, they used cheap materials and the heels/pads of the boots already need to be redone. They didn't use solid heels, so you can now see holes when you flip over the boots. I don't really care about what you can't see, but I'm not about dirt, etc getting shoved in and trapped in these holes as I'm walking around in these boots. I brought in a pair of strappy flats had some of the straps come out from the sole. They've reattached the straps twice and they've come undone twice. My favorite was when I asked them about a pair of cheaper boots to be re-soled and fixed because I didn't know how that would work or if it could and they at laughed me and treated me like I was wasting their time. I am admitting I don't understand and you take the opportunity to belittle your customer? Good job. I understand that my multi-colored hair and laid back wardrobe when running errands might make me look young and potentially broke, but I don't believe that I need to be dressed to the nines to get good service. I've worked customer care and I know how crap it can be, so I am always as polite and thankful for any service - I didn't deserve to be treated like that. I still dealt with them because they treated my mother so well and supposedly do an amazing job. Their good reputation does not match the work I needed. I'm really disappointed in the work and was hoping to find some place that can work with my epic shoe collection. I understand that when you buy expensive, unique things, you need to be prepared to pay for the upkeep. I was prepared to fork over however much for good work. This store is tucked around the corner by the VB tax office, totally on the other side from the Hardy's, in case you are looking for it. I dropped off a pair of dress shoes that had the soles coming unglued from the rest of the shoe. The man working there (George?) was very helpful and told me the options I had. It was only $10 to get them re-glued, vs $50 to have them totally re-soled. So I went for the re-glue option since the shoes were pretty old anyway. They took my number and told me they would be ready in 3 days. They didn't call so I went by to check, and the shoes were ready. Judging by the other items I saw in the store, they do all kinds of repairs to men's and women's shoes. I would recommend this place because it is a small family business, and they did a really good job. read more

I have a pair of Johnston & Murphy shoes that are a few years old and the soles had worn out. These shoes hurt my feet and they aren't at all comfortable. I truly dislike them. But, they look super sharp when they are all polished up and it is better to look good than to feel good. At least that is what I tell myself. So, after reading reviews, I took them into George's. The gentleman that helped me, maybe George (?), looked at them and said a half sole would be appropriate since the heels were still in good shape. I brought them in and they were ready in just a few days. I thought the price was more than fair and when I picked them up, they looked great. I have since bought another pair of J & M shoes that feel like tennis shoes. I love them. So, I may never wear the repaired pair again. But, if I do, they are ready to go thanks to George's! read more

Fantastic! Great experience with having him repair two low-heel boots for me. He gave two of my best friends back to me. They are like new again. The soles and heels he put on are better than what came with the Dan Post boots. They feel sturdier and more comfortable. They are thicker than original and with a thicker wear surface so should last a very long time. Well worth the money invested. Very friendly people who are willing to help the customer achieve their goals. Approachable and willing to discuss options. With "green" being a social-cultural norm today I'm surprised the younger generation doesn't recycle like the older generation and have their footwear repaired.
