First thing, it's off of exit 211. Of course, that's the Pennsylvania Turnpike. I was traveling from New Jersey to Rochester. That trip is not my favorite. A friend told me to give this a try. We stopped to eat on the way up and the way back. Some of the entrées we got were.. cheeseburger and fries... Chicken salad sandwich... Ruben. Some of the breads you can order are homemade. The pies are to die for. The cherry pie had that little bit of tart taste And the blueberry pie really taste like blueberry pie... Not Tastycake blueberry pie. Another dessert that takes the cake or I should say eclair is the chocolate eclair. We also brought home a homemade cinnamon raisin loaf of bread. It's much better than your Pepperidge farm swirl. The waitresses that served us we're excellent. They were friendly and didn't get upset when it took my wife five minutes to decide on her entry.. I usually don't give a Restaurant five stars. I mean, my mother's cooking only gets four. But. The fact that this restaurant is off a major highway, and has the quality equal to any diner in New Jersey... Probably better, it deserves that extra star. One more tip if we're traveling past Binghamton look for the change in speed limit dropping it to 55 mph. If you get caught going over 80 look for a lawyer in Binghamton to handle your case, it will help you immensely of course don't bring your gun just a cannoli. read more

Average rating for an average restaurant. I came in with a large good for breakfast Waitress was friendly and despite our large party we still have an expected wait time for food. I got the veggie omelet. Everything was good, the best item ended up to be the thick, homemade bread. If that was all ordered I would give it a higher rating, but before I left I did order a blackberry pie. For what I had heard the pies here are a big deal and I believed it because they were displayed front and center when you walk into the restaurant. This pie ran below average compared to other pies I have had. Very forgettable and disappointing since they were talked up so much. Also the style of this place could use some help. I've been going to this place since I was a wee lad. My family owns a few pieces of property up this way that they have littered with mobile homes and old lawn mowers. Whenever we go up to do the yearly lawn mow this place is a must. They bake their own complimentary bread and it's fantastic. This last time they were serving the poppy seed and raspberry bread slices. My dad always gets multiple helpings. Breakfast is always my favorite here. They bake all their own treats too. A stop for lunch on the way to Cayuga lake. Has indoor and outdoor seating, we chose outdoors. A bit chilly and windy, would have been nice to have the heaters on and to prevent the tent from flapping all around. Service was very friendly. Their bakery seems to have a large selection of pies, we didn't have any room left unfortunately to try. Menu is HUGE and prices are fair. Food was ok. Salad lettuce wasn't as fresh, with some browning noted. Some portion sizes were too small for my family (the boys eat a ton!). We were driving by here on the highway and decided that we would need to stop on the way back. We happened to stop on Pi day (3/14) which was appropriate given the number of pies this place has available. They had a Pi day special, so we all had pie. I would say that the pie was the best part of the meal. I cannot particularly recommend the main dishes. They were okay, but nothing special. My chicken and biscuits were good overall, but there was one large part of a biscuit (more than half) that was completely too hard to eat. I pointed this out to the server but was not offered anything other than an apology. I think that the sandwich called the Rachel that someone else at my table had looked better. I think if I was driving by here again I would mostly go for pie, or try to get breakfast food instead. read more

I ordered a cheese and mushroom omelet with grilled tomatoes instead of potatoes My dining mate ordered eggs, homefries and the big bread cinnamon toast, all delicious. Food came out hot, plated nicely, reasonable prices. Besides the typical breakfast menu of assorted egg dishes, egg sandwiches, omelettes, French toast, waffles etc. The menu also features soups, salads, entrees, kids menu, burgers, and of course a hugh variety of homemade pies cakes, pastries, breads, cookies, and buns. Classic American diner/roadside stop/family restaurant. We were staying nearby and ate there twice last week. Here's the brief: Burgers - solid! Large, seasoned, well cooked and on special on Wednesdays. Excellent large cut steak fries cooked perfectly Onion rings - crispy! And hot. Nice spicy dipping sauce. Cobb salad - abundant! Lots of good toppings on the bed of iceberg lettuce. Lasagna - luscious! Large portion, cheesy, tangy sauce, piping hot. The one lackluster item here is the sad starter salad that comes with dinner entrees. A little more effort is needed there, but its a side salad. BLT - loaded! They didn't scrimp on the bacon. Be sure to order a side. It is served with no accompaniment. Pies - now we are talking! I had two pieces of chocolate cream. Flaky crust and fudgy pudding filling. Apple has a nice flaky double crust. Peanut butter was great. But here is what you need to know. GET THE BREAD! Buy a whole loaf on the way out. I bought white and just had the most sublime grilled cheese with it when I got home from my trip. The rest is going in the freezer to be made into French Toast this weekend. So we randomly popped in here with our small children on a road trip for an early dinner. It greatly exceeded expectations. The very good: Chicken Pot Pie, Buffalo Chicken sub (grilled chicken but every bit as good as any fried chicken Buffalo sub I've had), the free breads (all 3 were outstanding), the ice cream sundae, the cream puff, the various cookies, the service, they had PB&J for the kids!!!!!!!! Social distancing was great everywhere except the lobby (which is probably unavoidable for them). The prices I also thought were fair. The good enough: Waffle fries (could have used 60 seconds more in the fryer) The not so good: house salad, steak fries (get the waffle fries or something else). This is the best roadside stop you could ever make. It's so good, you should make a trip for the restaurant instead of just stopping while on the way. Not only is the pie better than advertised (and it is advertised as incredible pie), but the food is nothing to complain about either. I visit every chance I get. The raspberry pie is my personal favorite, and the Cuban sandwich they made was delectable. Make sure to take home not just pie, but the to-die-for cinnamon rolls and sticky buns. Related to COVID-19, they are offering outdoor seating and have the seating adjusted for social distancing. They also have the doors marked for one-way traffic. I have been to Binghams several times when I lived in the area north of here and was visiting family. We stopped yesterday only to pick up a pie and some of their great bread. The stop is an easy off/on from Interstate 81. We bought a loaf of bread and picked up one of their Fruits of the Forest pies. It is very tasty and won't last as long as it probably should but with three people digging at it, it's going to be gone! The place was closed for awhile because of a bad fire, but it has been rebuilt and is quite new and nice inside. If I'm in the area again, we'll have to have breakfast or dinner. The pies here look so wonderful, and with a pie named "Fruits of the Forest" who wouldn't want to try it?? They have a 45 minute huge breakfast special for $2.50 too from 6-6:45AM. Can't miss with that. I think it may just be M-F, but it sounded like quite a big breakfast. They bring you a small plate with two dinner rolls and some delicious sweet bread, which for us was chocolate chip almond - it was sooo good!! I started with the split pea and ham soup, which was delicious, but had almost too much ham in it (if you can imagine that!) for me. My entree was the stuffed cabbage (two that were huge) which were pretty good. Not as good as mine, or my mother's, but good. It could have used more onion and had it been baked in the tomato sauce rather than just putting it on when serving it, it would have been much tastier and more moist. I asked for the mini potato pancakes, which were delicious and the butternut squash, which was excellent. My partner started with a house salad with the homemade sweet and sour dressing, which she just loved. Her entree was the penne in vodka sauce with shrimp. The shrimps were really big and tasty, but it was really swimming in the sauce, so too much for her. She said the garlic bread was very delicious. We each ended our visit with a piece of pie, fruits of the forest for me - oh so good, and pecan for her, which she enjoyed as well. The portions here are big, so we ended up taking half of it as a take out. I would definitely hit this place again if I'm in the area. They've got a huge menu with some excellent choices!! read more

I've been coming to Binghams for at least 25 years, or as long as it's been around. It is, without comparison, the best restaurant on 81 between the NY state line and Clark's Summit. Our cabin is 15 minutes away, and many a meals out have been a unanimous vote for Binghams. First, the menu is overwhelming. So much selection. The most recent visit was an excellent grilled chicken/feta/walnut/cranberry salad, along with a very good bowl of chilli. That said, if you want it they have it. More offerings than you can shake a PennDot worker's unused shovel at. And yes, the food is good. Not gourmet, but down-home, straight up, square meal. You get what mom would have made you. Don't stop at dinner. The pies are excellent...so good, that Obama apparently has heard of them also, and stopped in August to pick a few up. They are excellent! Service has always been good, and the interior, clean and new! Our family is glad Bingham's rebuilt following the fire a few years back; it was sorely missed while it was gone, and would have been mourned had it not rebuilt! read more

This place is great. My wife and I stopped in here for dinner and the food was great. The menu had so many options. I decided to go with one of my favorites, homemade chicken pot pie. Outstanding choice. My wife decided to get the open faced turkey platter with gravy and fries, and that was delicious also. The service was great and the overall experience was fantastic. Sometimes I wonder if I am wearing a Kick Me sign. Met a friend at Bingham's restaurant today and was early. You have to wait to be seated. Stood there for what felt like ages with everyone ignoring me. (Standing is not easy for me with my lower back situation). Finally I hailed a waitress and said, "Can I sit down?" Unsmilingly, she said yes. Sat down in a booth and no one came to see if I wanted anything to drink. Time passed with the waitress waiting on newer arrivals but finally she asked (unsmilingly). Friend arrived and joined me. The waitress continued to ignore us while waiting on other people over and over (even newer arrivals). There was a young man delivering food to tables so I hailed him and said, "Can we order?" He took our order (and mine was complicated since I was adding on a pie and dinner for my hub) without writing anything down. He brought it all. Regular waitress still ignored us then finally asked my friend if she wanted something to drink. I have never been fond of this restaurant and this just solidified it. I came here with my friend for breakfast on his recommendation, and it did not disappoint. Though it took a bit of time to get here going over country roads, our appetite was big when we arrived. The setting is a casual restaurant, and the staff is friendly. They specialize in homemade, thick-cut bread which is used for toast and French Toast. I ordered a meal with homefries, bacon, scrambled eggs and toast. It came out quickly and was hearty. The homefries were a golden bronze color and seasoned with salt, but were very soft. They looked like they should be crispy but sadly they were not. The eggs were fine, and the bacon was chewy instead of crispy (which I understand some people prefer... next time, I will specify crispy bacon). The toast was indeed thick cut and very tasty with butter. The orange juice I ordered looked to be at least 12 ounces, which was a nice change of pace from the usual small glasses that most places serve. On the way out, I saw their lovely pies. I wanted to get one to bring home but the prices weren't marked. They had tags like "349" and "350" which seemed pretty cheap for homemade pies. When I asked at the register what the numbers meant, I was told that these were the days of the year when the pies were made. They were to track freshness. I never asked about the price of pies, they never offered that info or asked if I was interested, and thus I never bought one. I would love to go back to this place. read more
