Dog, which has pastrami, carne asada, cheddar cheese, bacon bits, a ton of cilantro and chipotle aioli (a mayonnaise kind of sauce). Very packed with flavor with all the meats inside, and the cheese melts so well inside the hot dog. They even put this inside a relatively big carton container, the same kind I've seen the staff put their D.U.I. Fries in... holy crap those are some huge portions! For $18 before tax though, this hot dog was already slightly massive for its size, at just about a foot long. Very nice start to a great time in Vegas! After reading the reviews, we decided to hit this place in late February, 2011. Hands down, maybe the best Corned Beef Sandwich I've ever eaten. A full 8 ounces of meat. Warm, juicy, tender and tasty. Complete with potato salad and a dill pickle. The only bad thing...the potato salad wasn't my style. I like mine with egg. Otherwise, just great. The lady working the counter / fixing sandwiches was great too. And an excellent value in my opinion, considering some of the rip-off joints out there. This sandwich was only $7.95. I called and asked if any of their restaurants had any gluten free options at all. Salad. Anything. I was told that none of them are able to accommodate by an employee who sounded like she couldn't wait to get me off the phone. The original coney dog is chili, mustard, and onions. Nothing else. Classic, a little spicy, and the dog has natural casing so it snaps when you bite it. All of that is delivered here at American Coney Island. Sometimes to chili is a little hot and I get heartburn. Sometimes the onions are a little hot and I have onion breath the rest of the day, but more often than not it hits just right and I'm glad I went. The place isn't large. Maybe 10, small two-top tables that can be move together for larger parties. You order at the counter and find your own seat when the time comes. Generally pretty well-maintained and clean. It's open to the casino, however, and the smell of cigarette smoke wafts in and is off-putting and inescapable. That, for me, is the only drawback. Staff is friendly enough. They're not here to make friends, but they're pretty efficient.

For one of the side dishes I upgraded to the gumbo and that was probably the best gumbo I have ever had outside of New Orleans. The service was prompt and everyone was friendly. The waitress who was handsomely tipped in advance explained they only had 4 people cooking in the kitchen and they were way behind and could not tell her when the food would be coming. In context there are hundreds of people at the the pool. Over an hour later the burgers and fries came. The fries were close to warm, closer to cold. They had a heavy seasoning on them that was not tasty. The burger orders were totally screwed up. The burgers were not grilled, they tasted microwaved. The lettuce was wilted and the tomato looked sick. The bread was close to stale and tasteless. Overall the burger was close to disgusting. While I waited a great many ordered take out from other restaurants in the hotel, including fast food. The Nugget had to have lost thousands. My recommendation is to order elsewhere and pass on The Grill and order from an outside vendor.
