I drove a couple minutes over to get the two bottles of wine on hold for me. I was honestly shocked to say this location customer service is pleasant. I usually go to the Binny's in Downers Grove. I stopped here after searching for special beer for new neighbors birthday and show in stock. I drove 45 minutes out of my way, to find a ride manager, telling me beer was not in do to code. I asked what that meant with no response, so I asked what beer was close to item, I did not want to go empty handed. A staffer helped me with this and she was only good part of stop. I asked for special rum that we like as was told that only idiots drink that stuff. This was the manager and why state his opinion in such a way. Just tell me they stopped making this special rum and be done with it. I just hope that they contact me to vote for bad employee of the week, he has my vote. read more

I popped in tonight to grab several bags of the limited edition Garrett's popcorn that was just brought to retail this week. Binny's is one of only a handful of places you can find it in the west suburbs at the moment and I thought it would make an excellent stocking stuffer. I had other choices of places to buy it (including Pete's Fresh right down the street!) but I thought why not give some business to one of my favorite stores during these hard times? While there, I decided to peruse the store for other potential Christmas gifts. I was approached by an employee (Graham?) in the whiskey aisle. When he offered assistance, I inquired if they had any Maker's giftsets. He was friendly and proactively retrieved two of the options from the back room for me. Each set featured the regular Maker's Mark bottle and also included the typical promotional marketing items- one box had a cheap plastic "limited edition" ornament and the other giftset included a cup and stirrer for making Old Fashioned cocktails. Maker's Mark is a pretty big hit with my friends and family, so I decided I wanted multiple giftsets. I asked him how much the sets were and he told me they were the same as the bottle price, which happened to be $19.99 this week. Score! After loading my cart up with all kinds of other treasures I found in the store, I made my way up to the cash register. My bill was about $300, and the "cashier-in-training" felt the need to politely whisper my total to me, but I didn't flinch because this is what always seems to happen when I'm left alone in a liquor store for a half an hour. Plus, I was basically knocking out the bulk of my holiday shopping in one fell swoop with a couple of extra treats for myself to boot! But... not so fast. First let me make this clear. The cashier-in-training was as pleasant and as accommodating as a person could possibly be. After carding me, she made me remove my N-95 mask from my face so that she could "confirm" my identification. That was a little astonishing, but I complied and told her I totally understood. In retrospect, that policy TOTALLY SUCKS. But I digress-- As I pulled out my credit card, I asked if the Maker's rang up at $19.99. I was told that it did not. The giftset with the free cup rang up at $27.99 and the one with the ornament rang up at $25.99. Her trainer was over her shoulder and between the two of them, I was asked who told me the price was $19.99. I pointed out the EXACT employee that gave me the information. I also told them that this was also the case in my experience in every Binny's ever. The giftset price is ALWAYS the same price as the bottle price. And all of the Maker's displays and shelves were marked at $19.99. Because the gimmicky crap they shove in the box is just trying to get you to buy the bottle. It's all just promotional marketing. And I will admit, I am a sucker for it! The trainer said they would honor the $19.99 price because an employee had given it to me. She said they just needed a manager to approve it. I shrugged and said it was no problem. Enter a surly "manager." Your typical 60+ dude with a huge chip on his shoulder and a need to treat anyone under the age of 50 as if they are 15 years old. When he was told what the situation was, he completely dismissed the fact that they were not honoring the price I was given. He argued that the giftsets were "different" and he tried to gaslight me about the style of booze. Not so fast, pal. I pointed out that it was just the same old bottle of Maker's as the one being sold outside of the box. The giftset price is always the same as the stand-alone. I have only been shopping at this store since it was installed. My entire family has. And we shopped at the Walgreen's that was here before it. When the manager walked away, the trainer was all over the place. First she said it was all corporate's fault. "They are in control of this." Really, lady? Because I am quite sure corporate would like you to sell the booze at the advertised prices, period, end of story. I am also quite certain they would prefer I purchased the $300 of booze + food in my cart (please God, be reading this review right now, Binny's corporate!!), than telling you that I am going to take all of my business elsewhere. I am really not at all embarrassed to say that I spend thousands of dollars at this store each year. On my last visit, I dropped $500+ on one trip alone. Do you know what I bought that day? Many fancy things, but also a slew of stand-alone bottles of Maker's Mark at $24.99 a pop. As I am shoving my Amex back into my wallet and my wallet back into my bag, the trainer remarks, "You know, the giftset prices are always the same as the single bottle." Yeah, actually, I. DO. KNOW. THIS. The very kind, very young cashier-in-training attempts to apologize to me (no doubt because she realizes how ridiculous her manager has been) but I just said, "It's okay, they've just lost a customer for good over this, that's all." Nicely sized Binny's with a great beer selection. We hovered through the beer aisles and found a lot of good local and national craft beers. I thought their make your own 6 pack for $10 had a nice selection too-- I found 4 new to try and 2 favs to repeat. Check out was quick and a breeze too. Not sure if this is Binny's fault or not (I'm guessing not), but they had at least 6 liquor vendors doing samples. I walked past all of them and was not offered a single one. I saw two employees having their samples though... wasn't impressed by that part of it, but would definitely return if in the area. read more

Binny's is awesome period full stop. Prices are good. Some beer is higher than other stores, some beer and wine is lower than others. They don't seem to mark up certain craft beers quite as much as other stores, which is good. I came in to poke around looking for nothing in particular, but noticed they had bombers of Revolution, which I'd never seen in any other store ever. Sweet, awesome selection. Then I was asked if I was finding every thing ok, which I always appreciate. I told him I was looking for something good, and we went though a tour of the selection with him pointing out all the things he thought I'd like. Ended up getting Boulevard Bob's 47 Oktoberfest on his suggestion and it was fantastic. Checking out was quick and friendly. Big store, clean store, friendly staff, good prices, knowledgeable staff, quick visit. If you're looking for more than that in a liquor store, you're pickier than I, and I don't know how to help ya. But for the basics, Binny's should do everything you need. read more

Having grown up in the area, I knew only of the seedy liquor stores sprawling across every major (and minor) strip mall. (Nothing against the Joe's Discount Liquors and Bob's Beverages of the world, I guess I prefer selection and cleanliness over slightly lower prices and prison bars in front of the checkout). I am a bit of a beer snob. The wine selection takes up 2/3rds of the store, which is fine by me. I love a store that offers a good selection of regional and international wines. But it was the beer selection that makes this place stand apart. After spending the last 5 years in the Northeast, I feel like I've been spoiled by an overwhelming amount of awesome craft breweries. On my last trip to Binny's I was pleasantly surprised to see at lest three varieties of Victory Brewery (including the famed Golden Monkey) in stock. Prices may be $1-3 more per 6-pack/case/bottle/whatever, but it's worth it. And if you're looking for some off-the-wall craft brew, this place is likely to have it (or something that suits your tastes). read more

Binny's is conveniently located next to Trader Joe's. So when I visit TJ's I usually just wander on over to Binny's to check out the selection. First this place is huge. It probably has any type of beer you have ever wanted. I was a little confused by the way they had the beers organized but I guess I should have asked the staff. I usually make a weekly trip to any various binnys for my beer needs. This particular visit was for the 2015 KBS release. We got there 30 min before the official sales began. They had a few beers open for sampling and let us know that the sales would begin in aisle 4. We perused the beer section, I found an Avery Uncle Jacobs stout that I had been searching for. Then we got in line. 20 minutes later they wheeled out the shopping cart full of KBS and then an orderly queue formed behind us. Once sales began we were out the door with no hassle 5 minutes later. Protip: most binnys have a twitter handle for the beer girl/guy that posts most of the more rare or sought after beverages. read more

I don't know if my mom thinks I am an alcoholic, but every time I visit her, she gives me some money to go to Binny's and either grab wine for dinner, beer for grilling, or scotch for sipping. Now, I am a good son (usually), so I say "yes mother", go to the store, and get the free alcohol. But I'm a good kid - I give them her Binny's number so she gets the points. I want to stay in that will of hers... Anywho, the service here is always phenomenal. The wine guys know their stuff and always give a great recommendation based on what I am eating, or just what mood I am in. Their beer selection is excellent for someone like me who likes access to the finer beers in life. Spirits...they have a collection that would make any connoisseur weep in joy. The stoggie collection in the corner is decent to. This is the only Binny's I have ever been to, but if they others are like the Glen Ellyn location...well, then this is one great chain. read more

This is not the best Binny's, but it is the closest one to us in DuPage Co. (The Binny's in Orland Park is super-huge and swanky.) And they have cool tastings, helpful employees, a big ole wine bargain bin, a little specialty food counter (oh my god, the Brie I tasted here blew my mind, too bad it was $13/lb), and plenty of booze to choose from. I'm really psyched to try the pumpkin beer and HONEYCRISP hard cider we just got... Prices are pretty reasonable, selection is huge, employees are helpful... hurray for Binny's! (And, bonus, if you need some snackage that is a little more reasonably priced, Trader Joe's is about three doors down.) Edit to add: The Crispin Honeycrisp hard cider was awesomely delicious. I want more. Right now. :) The pumpkin ale, also pretty darn good, and I'm not even a beer drinker. read more

You know you go to Binny's too much when the cashiers start telling you personal stories about their cats.... Any who I like this place. It's always well stocked with wonderful alcoholic yummies. The beer section is extensive. I just wish they had a larger selection of single bottles for mix and match beer 6 packs, but I'm happy they offer the option in the first place. They're wine selection though is amazing. If you can think of it they got it! And they often have pretty awesome sales on some really great bottles. They also have some pretty cool tastings that are free (and some that are not so free but not so expensive either) that are definitely worth you checking out! Without a doubt, Binny's (at any location) has the best selection of wines in the area. Feeling a little Malbec? They've got a huge South American selection of wines from Argentina and Chile. Want a gigantic array of Pinot Noir to choose from? They have the expected Californians, but also a robust selection of Pinots from Oregon as well (my favorites). But what if you're cooking an Italian dinner and want to pair it with a lovely Italian wine? Fear not, wine snobs, Binny's has you covered with the killer B's: Barolo, Barbaresco and Barbera, along with any type of Chianti you could dream of. While Binny's is a wine lover's paradise, they also have a gigantic selection of beers, ales and ciders. One of my favorite beers on the planet that has been very hard to acquire in the US is from Argentina. It is called Quilmes. And what do you know? Binny's actually carries it. My eyes just about jumped out of my skull and I did a little dance in the aisle when I first noticed Quilmes perched on a rack behind the cooler glass. If you are having a boy's night and want to get a large variety of beer, some excellent wine varietals and oh, you can't forget the stogies, this is a one-stop-shop for all of it. Yes, Binny's even has a walk-in humidor with a substantial selection of cigars from every cigar-rolling region (sans Cuba, of course). They also sell humidors, clippers, lighters and other cigar paraphernalia to keep you covered. On top of the magnificent collection of beer, booze, wine and cigars, the service is always exceptional. If you walk around and look somewhat confused, lost or deep in wonder, inevitably one of the staffers will ask if you need help with a recommendation. Each time I have ever asked a Binny's employee for advice, I've gotten quite a thorough education on some aspect of wine or beer that I wasn't previously aware of. read more

My Binny's stop was intended to be a quick little jaunt to pick up a bottle of Orin Swift The Prisoner Zin blend for a gift. What followed was a thorough education on the wine maker and percentage of the varietals in the blend. Being a detail freak, as many Yelpers are, I completely appreciated the time taken by the staff to educate me on my purchase. This is the best store for finding those lesser known drinks. Great selection of beer, wine and liquors. I have been a member for about 3 months now and love the great benefits. Since joining, I have gone to two beer tastings and have gotten countless deals on beer. The prices are the best I could find in the area and the selection is HUGE. Workers know how to sell their product and have a vast knowledge of almost everything in the store. If you are looking for anything from cheap alcohol to the most expensive beer, wine or liquor this is the place to go. Also, check out the website or ask about events that happen in the store. I have been going to this Binny's for years! This is, hands down, the best liquor store and best Binny's in the chain. I've been to many other Binny's all around Chicago, and this location has the most knowledgeable and friendliest staff. When going in for wine, I talk to Steve, the Wine Manager. You tell him the type of wine you're looking for and your price range and he will always come up with a great tasting bottle. Plus, he tends to give a little background on the wine which is very interesting. Tequila, I've talked to a couple people but the one that stuck out to me was Rob Z. (I think that was his name). I told him the ones I've tried and what I like and he pointed me to 3 bottles. I went with his top choice and it truly was an amazing bottle of tequila! They have the biggest selection of craft beer, fine wine and high end tequila I have ever seen all across the country! No matter who you talk to, it seems everyone is very helpful! I now live in Itasca, but I will gladly travel the extra distance for the customer service. read more

It right by the amazing Trader Joes so I like to head over there and get whatever sort of drink would go with my amazing meal I'm going to make. I decided to cater through Binny's for my wedding because I wanted to have an open bar at my venue. All you do is email them, let them know how many people you have coming, then they send you a total of what you will need & how much it will be. They automatically add on a ton of wine, which I don't think you really need that much wine. I asked them to take it off because I wanted to go to Trader Joe's & get some $3 bottles of wine instead, they said that was alright, then sent me an updated total. The nice thing about them is that if you don't use all the liquor you buy, you can return it (as long as it is unopen of course). I ended up having to return about half of the liquor I ordered, but it was better than not having enough. The employees were also really nice & very easy to deal with. We ended up having to make two trips for the alcohol, which wasn't a problem for them. They also helped unload the liquor I was returning the next day. read more

Stopped in for the first time today after shopping at the Trader Joe's in the same mall. I've never had such excellent customer service in a Binny's. The first gentleman walked me to my first two requests, and the second helped me find the wine I was looking for. Prices on tequilla were $8 cheaper than Armanetti's and Jewel. The first time I walked into Binnys, I heard angel choirs. Never had I seen so much booze in one place outside of the Hofbräuhaus München. The people are really helpful, and the only time I ever stumped them on a request was for Baijiu (a Chinese alcoholic beverage.) The only downside is that the more common alcohols can usually be found at Wal-Mart for significantly cheaper (like Jack D, Bacardi etc,) but if you want more exotic selections, come here, and save yourself the trouble at calling around liquor stores. I recently started sampling the humidor, and they have some pretty amazing deals in there, better than most cigar retailers. It's always nice & humid, and the selection is very expansive. I met the cigar expert today, and he was incredibly helpful answering all my newbie humidor questions. read more

Came here for a beer tasting event. The store seemed pretty old. The employees there were very nice, always asking if I needed any help. My only gripe was their small beer selection (which seemed to be the smallest one out of any of the Binny's I've been in) Their beer singles selection was decent, they had the small micro brewery as well as the major ones (which seemed hidden on a table at the back of the store) Not my favorite Binny's. read more

I was looking for a Christmas gift of cigars and I know nothing about them. Went into the humidor with a suggested list and the gentleman helped me find 2 that were on the list. We were in the area for a wedding, so we visited this location about a week ago to stock up. The selection was great, and there was a decent variety of beers. I found some that I really liked. But what really bothered me about this location was the customer service. We went up to the register with over $100 worth of alcohol in our cart. Our cashier was a jerk from the start- he asked us for IDs, then when we showed him our Colorado IDs, he said that they weren't real and asked for better proof. If our Illinois friend wasn't with us, we wouldn't have gotten anything at all. Then I tried to pay for our items with my Visa gift card. Now I haven't had any other problems with the card while I was in Chicago, but for some reason, it was a problem here. The cashier kept scanning it, but it wouldn't work. He refused to enter it manually and just asked for another card. My girlfriend had to use her card. That's not the end of our problems with this place. After coming home, we discovered that my girlfriend's card information had been stolen on the same day we went here. The only place we had issues with was this location. read more

I understand doing construction, but this place has been under construction for a while. None of their beer are cold and cigar selections are poor. I'm upset because I was going to go to a local spot, but it was going to be out of my way for the cigar. I decided to head to Binnys and boy was that a mistake.
