My husband and I came here over the weekend for an impromptu date night and were so impressed. Food: 10/10 Ambiance: 9/10 Service: 10/10 We ordered the goat belly samosa, chicken inferno, lamb shank rogan josh, kachumbar salad, garlic naan, and lasuni palak. Every dish--except the salad--was spot on: authentic, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The chicken inferno was especially memorable, and the portions were generous. My only suggestion would be for the kachumbar salad to have more vibrant colors and fresher flavors--perhaps beets and carrots instead of the very chewy purple cabbage. I didn't try any of the cocktails, but I did have a glass of cava brut, which was served in a white wine glass and was a very generous pour. This place is truly a gem, and I hope they continue to keep the same recipes and portions because they've got something special here. We will definitely be back! read more

This is a nice, upscale restaurant. There is a small bar area with a TV above it which can easily be avoided. They have lunch specials, a happy hour, and tea (!) from 2-5, veg or non-veg options, which I'm definitely checking out. If you're vegetarian, items that can be made vegan are clearly marked, and there are more vegan items on the website than I saw on the menu, so I would ask. Most of the French touches appear to be on dishes with meat, though there are flatbreads and a spinach dip, and of course dessert; there is a lot more paneer on the menu than I'm used to, which might be a gesture towards the French love of cheese. Vegans would do best ordering the soya chaap or from the Accompaniments section, which includes classic Indian items (aloo gobi, dal). Overall there are about 8 vegetarian entrees / accompaniments, plus appetizer options. Restaurant serves wine, beer and cocktails in addition to the usual mango lassi, chai and soft drinks. We got a ginger mojito; mango lassi; the corn fritters; the fig/pistachio/paneer flatbread; garlic naan; rice; the soya chaap and a cardamom creme brulee. In general, food had a blend of spices but was mild, which makes sense given the French influence. The corn fritters were nicely spiced with good texture and a tasty sauce. The garlic naan is quite impressive with lots of herbs and garlic. Unless you love soy cutlets, I don't recommend the soya chaap (soy/wheat cutlets in coconut curry sauce); it's fine for what it is - the gravy was delicious and rich - but it's not for me. The flatbread was interesting; the pistachios didn't overwhelm at all but I would have liked more fig to stand up to the paneer. The spouse was impressed with the mojito; the lassi was OK but wasn't as fruity as I like. The cardamom creme brulee is served in a wide ramekin, maximizing the surface area of the sugar crust and making it easily sharable. Instead of permeating the cream, the cardamom seeds provided little bursts of flavor, which was nice but not what I expected. Service was a bit slow but solicitous - we were there on a quiet Sunday night. Copious parking; easy hours; I'll definitely check out the lunch specials and tea when I'm in the mood for local Indian food, heavy on the paneer. read more

I was very pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed lunch today. We'd never been in but previously had a bit of leftovers from our kids... and knew we had to try it. For $50, we each had plenty of food and some amazing tea. The food was plenty flavorful and not nearly as spicy as their name implies. I'm not big on spicy heat and had no issues with their spice levels. Their service was attentive and they handled our dietary needs well. We were there before noon and it was a bit quiet. We started off with cauliflower pakora which was fantastic! Hot fresh and perfectly seasoned. We also had the butter chicken samosas which were fabulous! For our mains we ordered aloo gobhi, tandoori chicken with naan and basmati rice as well as the lentils! First time having them and they were amazing! For dessert we went for the rice pudding which is served with amarena cherries as well as the cardamom crème brûlée! But do not leave here without trying their Flambe dishes which are the epitome of the mix of French and Indian cuisine! Why this mix? The husband and wife couple who own this restaurant have combined his menu of Indian cuisine from his culture with french influence from her culture! I can wait to go back here. Dined at this new addition to the Glen Ellyn restaurant scene. Strongly recommend. We were the only diners on Thursday at 6:30 pm. Service was excellent and punctual. Decor mixes new elements with some of the staples that have previously occupied this space. Ok let's talk food. It is billed as French and Indian fusion. The menu is Indian forward but with French flairs. They do a nice job and flavors are well done. We ordered a lot so we can provide a thorough review. Beautiful, intimate restaurant right off the train stop in Glen Ellyn. Plenty of free parking after commuter time. Service was attentive (but we were the only ones there at the time.) The food was SO GOOD. The corn fritters were slightly spiced and so light. Still dreaming of them. We got 3 other dishes for the 4 of us and still took some home. The scallops were beautifully presented but I felt the spinach (saag) was too heavy for them. But since they sat on the saag, you could easily eat them separately. The single beef rib provided lots of fall off the bone meat. The sauce was rich and tasty. We also got chicken tikka masala, also very good. You need to order rice and bread. The naan was fresh and delicious. The wine pour was very generous IMO. Would love to eat here again. read more

Wonderful food! Everything was delicious. We had the weekday lunch special which was generous and quite reasonably priced. I have low spice tolerance but found the Paneer Tikka Masala was fine for me. We didn't see the French influence in our food, but it was great Indian food. It was not busy, and service was quite prompt and attentive. This used to be a French restaurant and Indian decor is mixed with some of the old elements. The result is not very appealing. Stopped in around 4pm on a Saturday. The place was nearly empty since it was between Norma meal times. We started with a beer, cardamom cappuccino and masala chai. The cappuccino and chai weren't as hot as we would've liked. The beer was perfectly chilled, but served in a mason jar too large for the 12oz bottle they poured into it. We started with the corn fritters, Punjabi samosas and then we got the mango habanero paneer flambé. The fritters were tasty, but the my stuck to your teeth. The samosa didn't have the typical Punjabi flavor, but the crust was very crispy and flakey. The paneer flambé was absolutely delicious, but did not taste like mango or habanero. Mostly a tomato flavor, but we loved it nonetheless. The service was pretty good as well. read more

My fiance and I wanted to try a new to us restaurant in Glen Ellyn, so we decided to try here. It did not disappoint! My fiance got an old fashioned and it was the smoothest old fashioned I've ever tasted and I'm not much of a drinker and thought it was great! We got the Mango Habanero Paneer and the Pudina Chicken and we probably finished them in record time! It was cool watching the server flambe them, too! We finished off with a coffee and a tea and it was the perfect evening. It's a small, cozy and lovely atmosphere. The food is tasty and delicious, too! The ambiance was so relaxing, the food was delicious, and the staff were all so friendly and attentive. Excellent food from start to finish! Everything we ordered was outstanding! For appetizers, we had incredible Crab Croquettes, Goat Belly Samosas, and Punjabi Samosas. Our entrées included the Achari Shortribs, Chicken Makhani Inferno, Pudina Chicken, and Chicken Tikka. Each dish was unique and packed with distinct, bold flavors. Nothing tasted the same, yet everything was equally delicious. The flambé presentation was such a fun touch and added to the whole experience! The naan, masala tea, and rice pudding were delicious too. I wasn't very confident ordering Indian food but everything exceeded my expectations and nothing was too spicy for me. I was there on the Glen Ellyn "Taco" Crawl. Various fillings from many participating Glen Ellyn restaurants which were not solely Mexican. I love Indian Food. My group had various fillings for our "tacos" from Curry a La Flambé- Butter Chicken, Tikka Masala, Palak Paneer. Everyone thought their "tacos" were great. I had Palak paneer; it was great. Our food wasn't super spicy, but I know every Indian restaurant can typically make any of their dishes more spicy if that is what you like. Their typical menu has many other Indian specialities. My favorite Indian foods are great Naan, curries, Palak Paneer, and Rogan Josh. I am looking forward to trying all of them. The reviews of everything in this restaurant are great so I know my "taco" experience is not just a one-off. Great service. Very nice new Indian restaurant within walking distance of downtown Glen Ellyn. Their tagline is "Where Indian spice meets French elegance", which is an apt description of the restaurant. Tucked away in the corner of a strip mall just east of downtown, the restaurant is comfortable and quiet. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The Garlic Cilantro Naan was the best naan I have ever had. The Flambéed Scallops, Chicken Tikka and Chicken Makhani Inferno were all very nicely done, and the Flambé done at the table just adds to the experience! My husband and I have been waiting for an Indian spot to open in downtown Glen Ellyn since we moved here in 2021. We were thrilled when we learned this spot was opening. And it delivered! Menu and flavors are on point! Lots of traditional items but also unique things to try. The space is really cute and well decorated/comfortable. Friendly staff. Will definitely be back often to try more things and bring my family and friends here! It is brand new so wasn't super busy when we went but they do have high chairs and look very family friendly. My nephew took me to dinner or I may have never tried this place. It is absolutely fabulous! The service is quick and friendly. The place is cute and very clean. But the food is the amazing. This new spot in Glen Ellyn is a "must go" if you are a fan of experiencing a unique Indian/French cuisine. I have visited many Indian restaurants in the area, and Curry A La Flambé offered a combination of food and tastes that I hadn't experienced before. We started with an order of the Goat Belly Samosas (2 per order) and garlic naan (plenty for two people) and we were NOT disappointed. We decided to also try the Masala Crab Croquettes, and I have to admit, this is one of the BEST appetizers I have ever had ANYWHERE. The combinations of fish, meat and sauces was second-to-none. For our main dishes, we decided to go with Flambéed Tiger Shrimp and Butter Chicken (please don't put my reliability into question due to my "basic" order lol). The shrimp were literally seared (lit on fire) at our table. The order came with 8 very large shrimp that were well seasoned and absolutely delicious. Again, the sauce that was served to complement the shrimp was also delightful. The Butter Chicken dish was a large enough portion, especially when I used my garlic naan to soak up some of the extra sauce! Delicious! The restaurant is big enough to entertain larger parties but also has a living room feel. The decor is attractive and the service was outstanding. Prices were fair, especially when compared to other restaurants of similar quality in the area. Parking was easy as there are plenty of spots both in front of the restaurant and in the back (just west of Park Blvd.) Taking everything into consideration, I very deliberately give Curry A La Flambé a 5-star review and I look forward to going back soon! read more

I tried Curry a la Flambe today. It was excellent. If you are new to Indian food, what my wife and myself ordered was a good starting point. Here's what we tried: 1. Cauliflower Pakora - Came with mint and tamarind chutney 2. Butter Chicken - A generous portion of chicken, lots of sauce, excellent and tasty. 3. Chicken Tikka Grill - Moist Chicken, nicely seasoned, and the grilled vegetables alongside it were also great. 4. Naan - really great bread, excellent for dipping into any sauce or chutney.
