Back in 2023 when I took my elderly mother to see him... he greeted her from the doorway. Would not come into the room. Didn't examine her in any way and has continued to bill her every month for a back brace she never asked for nor did she receive. It's now August of 2026 and she's been deceased since March and they STILL bill her. Cut to 2025/2026, my husband gives him a shot as my husband has severe scoliosis and chronic pain and desperately needs help. Again the doctor rarely enters the room. You get his half attention from the doorway. Doesn't listen. Never ONCE... never ONE TIME has filled my husbands meds when he says he will. After his appointments we have to spend 1-5 days calling the office to remind him to fill it. They don't answer the phone so you have to leave a voicemail that they've NEVER returned. My husband needs a referral for an orthopedic surgeon and 3 times his office has referred my husband to a doctor that doesn't take his insurance. His referrals department doesn't even know how to refer anyone. He had my husband come to get a procedure done at 9:30am and Batlan didnt show up for it until nearly 4 pm!!!!!!!!! He is cold, doesn't care, doesn't listen, whole operation is messy and you'll be lucky to get a very very low dose pain killer for horrendous chronic pain and he won't even give you a months worth. I was willing to give it a whirl, especially since the alternative was popping pills like a human Pez dispenser. First, I chatted with Nichole, the Business Manager/receptionist, who was as nice as pie and well-versed in the labyrinthine world of insurance. Lindsey was my therapist, and she immediately put me at ease by outlining the game plan for the next few sessions. She presented treatment options with the finesse of a game show host--always giving me the chance to pass on the prizes if they made me uncomfortable. Keep in mind certain PT methods can be a tad painful, but keep going, it will get better!!! After weekly sessions and a mix of in-office wizardry, home exercises, and some diet tweaks (goodbye, junk food; hello, hydration!), my pain has dramatically improved. While the doctor diagnosed osteoarthritis and recommended physical therapy and possibly a steroid injection, he did not take the time to explain his reasoning or answer important questions. Cold and rude. When I asked why an MRI wasn't necessary, I was given no meaningful explanation. I also asked how to manage the pain while waiting for physical therapy, but received no guidance on medications, dosages, or other pain-management options.When I explained that I had lived with arthritis for years but that the pain had recently become unbearable, his response was simply, "Yeah, that's how it goes," accompanied by a shrug. It came across as dismissive and lacking compassion. At the end of the visit, he said these were his recommendations and that we could "take it or not," as he walked out the door. He didn't discuss when to follow up--we had to ask--and he didn't even say goodbye. Most disappointing was the complete lack of empathy or acknowledgment that I was in significant pain. Good communication and compassion are just as important as medical knowledge. Unfortunately, this experience fell far short of both. I would not recommend this physician.

Dr.Miau diagnosed my fiance as having bone spurs and automatically referred him to physical therapy WITHOUT looking at his MRI, which according to my fiance's referring physician, revealed a massive separation between bone and muscles, requiring surgery. That is why the referring physician sent my fiance to an orthopedic surgeon. Physical therapy exercises would only exacerbate the medical problem and prolong what needs to be done: Reattachment surgery! We will not be returning to this guy.

I first impression was confidence and compassion for the patient. He explained all the process and procedures and helped me to take the correct decision quickly. He sent to the pharmacy the medication that I needed and right away marked my surgery in the calendar. I had an hernia in C6-C7 that was causing horrible pain due my nerve compression. My surgery was completely perfect and I came back home in the same day with 100% assistance with his Team 24 hs through a cell phone ( messages or calls) After 2 weeks I came back Dr Bassiwetz still recovering but completely satisfied and free of pain.
