I just started donating at the beginning of the month so this may not be as objective BUT. I think it takes longer than it should due to awkward staffing. There is always a much longer wait at some point in the process than seems reasonable. The first donation you think.... O.K. I had to wait to see the nurse and it was an extra busy day. No, if you are ever referred to a nurse again for a quick question or confirmation that you can donate that day.....add on at least another half hour in wait time. If the screening counter is quick the bed wait is ridiculous. This last time, the screener spent the whole time chatting with another employee across the room about how she applied elsewhere for a job and (because I know the screen process by now) she skipped a few, granted probably not critical, steps. I know there are dedicated folks that have been here a while but for the most, these are people moving on shortly, putting in their time until they can do something else. Not as satisfying of an experience as I hoped. I will be checking out other plasma donation facilities. They are clearly under staffed. read more

Everything! Tonight was my second visit. I did exactly what was told to me on Saturday and went to check in. I waited in line until a computer opened because they only have . I tried twice and twice the computer said I could not donate and had to speak to a staff member. I waited in line. There was only one guy at the desk and he had to call someone else and the parking lot on both sides were full so there were a lot of people there. This was at 5:30 tonight. I had an appointment for 630 and I thought by going early I might be seen earlier. stupid me. So I talked to the staff member and he said that since they did not give blood from me on Saturday, they had to check for a better vein today on the other arm. So we checked my other arm and it had "one small vein". He told me that would do and go back to the computers to sign in so I waited in line again. about 10 minutes later I got to the computer. I finished that and I was told by a staff member to go stand in the line that waits for donating and there was about 15 people in line. So I waited in line again. About 10 minutes later staff member came up and said I was in the wrong line, that I had to go get my blood checked again. I told her I had already done that last week and she said "it gets done every time." so I left that line to go stand in a different line again. Thankfully, that one was short, and I went up to the guy, and although my name is very easy to spell, it took him seven tries with me, spelling it each time. After I told him the frustration I had tonight, he said I'll have to see the nurse again. I told him I already saw the nurse on Saturday. He said "you have to see her again because you got a bruise on your arm." at that point I've had enough of waiting in line, and wrong information and I left. I've been there 40 minutes and was nowhere near getting to my blood donation with my appointment at 6:30.. as I went to leave I talked to the manager who I had talked to earlier about the debacle and he said "right well the nurse had to see you because of the bruise on your arm" and we got me so angry about that is that if he knew that, then why did he tell me to go sign in and stand in the first line??? A business either has good employees or they don't. A business either prospers or folks based on employees. I was given the runaround for stupid reasons. I could've been told right off the bat what I would be looking at tonight instead of being told to go from one line to another, a total of 4, but I guess they're so used to people not really caring how long they're gonna have to stand around that they figure everybody's the same. Well, I'm not I'm a businesswoman and a healthcare professional and I don't have time to just waste. The other thing that's ridiculous there is I would like someone to answer why we make an appointment when you have no intention of meeting it.? I had an appointment on Saturday too, but wasn't seen till almost an hour and a half later. When I make an appointment with people to come into my office at 9 o'clock, they're not expecting to see me at 10:30. This is a terrible place. It has no respect for your schedule, your appointment time, or how to communicate with you anything about the procedure. There are other places I can donate at and I'll try there. Bio life is horrible.. do better! Treat people with dignity. read more

The care quality is terrible. The staff is dismissive and intentionally will make you wait in one of the beds until another bed opens up for your correct arm. Not only this but they will stick you wrong and continue to attempt adjusting more than a few times until they need to get someone else. Then they realize the first one completely missed the vein and if you get scared and say you don't want them to attempt the other arm too, they'll give you 200 points and call it a day due to donor error. Even though they said they can feel the vein, they just completely missed it and won't be able to get it or else you'll get a hematoma. I used to like coming here, but not anymore. They've gone thru a high turn over rate of employees and a lot of the new ones have no personality. One in particular is a phlebotomist who I think is named KEELEY. She took care of me, but apparently could hardly say two words. And she was rude after she unhooked me from the machine. If I could give this facility zero stars I would. First of all, let me start by saying that these are not certified phlebotomist. They are young adults, some really young, that got on the job training. Biolife is also not an actual medical facility, it's a donation center, so all the rules laid in place to protect the patient are not in place. I'm a nurse myself, so I know there's a certain bedside manner that's considerate for anyone getting any medical examination or procedure. There's no HIPAA, so these fresh out of highschool "adults" do nothing but gossip, speak about inappropriate topics, (like shopping at Victoria secret for underwear), and do not protect your privacy at all. The whole process is not sterile or very sanitary. They take your vitals & fill a capillary to check hematocrit and iron levels at a counter in front of everyone. I've never seen them wash their hands in between donors and some don't even change their gloves, nor are they required to. Same with when they are actually checking and poking patients in the back chairs, no hand washing or glove changing. Now it doesn't take a genius to realize that diseases could easily spread in that type of environment. They draw blood to send off to lab during your primary donation, but I don't think they drug test there after, so there's no way to tell if the person in front of you just used a dirty heroin needle and now your next in line after and the staff isn't properly sterilizing. They do occasionally half-ass spray a solution on counters and beds. But it's looks like a water and bleach solution, not professional grade like SaniWipes, and they don't wipe it well enough for it to actually be sanitizing anything. On top of all this, when they do miss poke you or cause a hematoma, they have an attitude toward you when you come back and mention that they bruised you. And if you speak up on any issue they shadowban you. What I mean by shadowban is that they'll fake that your capillary levels are off so you can't donate. There is one girl in front her name is Jackie, you can tell she isn't medically educated because I've heard multiple people ask her questions and she doesn't know how to articulate answers to questions that pertain to the testing she's doing. She shadowbans me every time I go in now, the staff even whisper into each other's ears right in front of me, which is completely unprofessional but makes me believe shadowbanning is taking place even more so. I've been to my primary care physician twice and have gotten a full physical and blood work done, but apparently my levels are still "off" when I go, on top of that they are now doing the same thing to my husband. I have a lawyer looking into the arbitration clause within biolife's consent forms, falsifying blood work is illegal. Only things I would recommend is to drink plenty water the day before you go, don't eat fatty foods 2-3 hours before you go or you won't be able to donate because fat lipids will be in your bloodstream. I signed up with a bunch of coworkers so we could donate plasma and get back to the community. It says two forms of ID so the first one I brought was A Arizona drivers license. The second one was a passport card. They said the passport card wasn't good enough even though it's on their website so I provide them With another piece of ID. They said that's not sufficient then they wanted my Social Security card which I don't carry with me but I had a picture of it on my phone, front and back that was not acceptable and they needed a W-2 so I uploaded my W-2s for all three of my jobs and of course it only shows the last four of my socials, which is not good enough they are not clear on their website and the woman at the front desk not only has a mask over her mouth Language is very difficult to understand then get someone else who tries to explain it but basically now they wanna run my Social Security number, despite showing them three different W-2s, my passport card, my drivers license, and a picture of front and back of my Social Security card. The website is not clear and or they are not going by it. So far all bad!!!!!! are you able to help me because my appointment is five minutes before his and he seems to be quite further along and needs to verify my social. Apparently Andrea-Marie let me grab my purse. I'm looking for my ID.then to add I download 3 apps give them current w-2's but not good enough because it only shows the last four O and the best part I have a cope of my social in my phone front and back and not good enough. no referral fee unless you have already donated. i took my boyfriend here for his first time donating plasma, i chose this location because it's closest to his house but the one i always go to is the greenway location, upon arriving to this one it was packed! and there was 2 people ahead of him as new donors, the one that was next said she'd been waiting for an hour and 15 mins and that was with an apt!! then 15 more mins pass and then she's finally called up, my boyfriend at that point wanted to leave because it was 30 mins passed his apt time but i convinced him to stay, his apt time was at 12:05... it is currently 3:06 and i'm waiting for him in the parking lot.. this is outrageous, if they don't have enough staff then close out some apt times so people aren't waiting for HOURS to get attended and donate this is so ridiculous, i watched 2 people walk out because it was taking so long and there was managers walking around just hiding in their office without providing beneficial help to speed up the process for people waiting in line, im so glad this isn't the closet location to me, either hire more people or close out some apt times if you don't have the staff for it, it's simple, i only recommend coming here if you want to waste 3+ hours of your life read more

Biolife practices racist and discriminatory Business. I waited for 3 hours getting the run around just to find out that as a company policy you can't have any native American tattoos!!! They rejected me because of my tribal tattoo, they said they just don't work with tattooed people. I told them it was literally part of my right as passage in my tribe to get this type of tattoo, and they told me "that's why we often times have to reject native Americans". I WILL be filing a discrimination lawsuit against Biolife plasma. I've donated at 5 different companies and this is the ONLY one that has openly said they "commonly reject native Americans". I came in for a donation the person next to me had finished and left. The technician was removing the tubes from the machine rather recklessly and sprayed me with another person's plasma. She tried to cover up her mistake by claiming that it was her gloves, and she just utilized some cleaning materials basically trying to hide the mistake and the technician that was with me all they offered me was a Kleenex to clean off my arm not even an alcohol pad until I asked for one. Once a supervisory nurse came over and asked what was the problem all the technician that sprayed me with the previous person's plasma did was point at me, didn't even acknowledge me as a person. And to add, there was a biohazard been on her card. They had blood spatter on the outside of it. read more

The nurses are stuck up and are a bunch of babies because they can't handle someone who is tired of being harassed due to the fact that that I have no fingerprints. They knew this When I signed up and have been donating for 2 months. The nurses report you and then your lectured by a shirt manager like you're a child in the principal 's office. My visits are stressful and honestly violate my HIPA rights when I have to explain to every person at the facility my no fingerprints condition. read more

I am very disappointed in BioLife for multiple reasons. I've donated at this location for a year and only had minimal issues until today. Some were with staff who made inappropriate comments about race to me and also staff who were incompetent and messed up sticks and got blood all over me. I have pics of that time. I went in after having surgery to let the center know that my doctor had cleared me for all activities, but the center required 4 months additional time before I was allowed to come back. I felt that was ridiculous, but I went along with it. I finally came back to get my physical and apparently forgot one of my tattoos the first time around which was over a year prior and then forgot it again. I have like 9-10 tattoos and often forget about some because I've had them so long. It's clearly an old tattoo as I got it when I was 17 years old and I'm now over 40. That oversight now has me permanently deferred. WTF?! Perhaps for people with multiple tattoos you should examine them a little closer the first time around or ask to physically see the tattoos during the physical exam. This was a simple mistake and a manager should be able to over ride it. This specific incident has me very upset, but combined with several of the other issues I've experienced over the past year or so, it's ridiculous. The employee who made a racial comment to me is still employed there too. I saw him today. Don't make any accidental mistakes people because they are not understanding and let's be honest... we are all here for the money and this slip up now is costing them and me. I normally go to the Avondale location but this day they didn't have any appointments available. I normally never have any issues donating blood I check in get screened then go for donation and then I'm out. This location Glendale was such a terrible experience first when I walked in to check in there was a man literally speaking to himself about transporting drugs, race of people then deaths like out loud and I was shocked that no one has attended the situation everyone was literally ignoring it I couldn't even focus it was right next to the check in screens. Then when it came to drawing the actual blood the girl poked me on my preferred arm and she literally was like yeah it's not working we're going to have to try the other arm I was so annoyed because then she poked me in the exact same spot I was poked just a few days prior and now 2 days later I'm noticing the spot on the arm she said wouldn't work the area is bruised and purple and the other arm I have actual scab building up. Kenzie I think was the girl who did it. I will never go back to this location again. Avondale is so much better and feels cleaner too. read more

The fact that this place already only has 2.5 stars should have been an indication as to what it's like - and I will take greater account of that in giving future places my business. The staff themselves are good (even though there is many inconsistencies throughout depending on which staff member you get), however, the protocols are absolutely outrageous. I'll start with the first terrible experience of my first time coming here in late 2019/early 2020. I "failed" the initial screening process with the RN due to not having followed up with a pulmonologist from a 2017 overnight hospital stay that was from suspected, but undiagnosed, asthma. (The "true" diagnosis part would need to come from a pulmonologist after testing). I did not follow up as I did not have good medical insurance coverage at the time, and never had another issue severe enough to warrant a hospital visit. Absolutely Ridiculous. After coming back in 2021 (having since had a FORMAL diagnosis), I was then "eligible" to donate after another interview with the RN. Since I was still considered a "new donor", I was able to opt into the promotion that was going on. In the required promotion for new donors, you must donate 8 times within a 45 day period to complete it in full. What is NOT told to you however, is that if for any reason you are ineligible from donating on the day that you come in, they DON'T extend the promotion to match that. So someone, like me, who works 5-6 days out of 7 cannot complete the promotion because I cant just "come back tomorrow and try again" like they like to tell you. BioLife's hours are painfully standard and don't work with someone who works an average 9-5. And they won't work with you AT. ALL. Since beginning my promotion on 06.18.21 - I have been denied donating SIX times, for my heart rate ranging from 101-138. ("Standard" is 50-100hbpm). Two-three times this was brought up to staff, who every time brushed it off as "you'll have time to complete it", "come back tomorrow". Each time it's a gamble which blood pressure cuff the staff member uses (as I've had both the small and large size). It's absolutely infuriating to me that my concerns were never addressed, but rather pushed to wayside. It literally would have been more helpful to say, "There's zero exceptions to the promotional rules, too bad" instead of this fake customer service facade that was vague and dismissive. For there being such a high "need" for plasma - there are an awful lot of hoops you have to jump through to be considered an eligible donor, with some being understandable, and others being inconsistent on who's there/what the circumstance is. Beware of all the "fine print" before attempting to donate plasma - because it's not as easy, or as truly needed, as they make it out to be. read more

I have been coming to BioLife for a couple of months now and 2 more weeks and I am done. 2 hours for 30 dollars is not worth the pain and treatment you get there. The employees walk around like robots and most don't give you the time of day, unless it is one of the girls yelling at you. 2 more weeks and I am done. If I last that long. Having been here a few more times since 11/16/20, I have to say that I have grown increasingly frustrated. I've been trying to take into consideration COVID-19, employees calling out due to illness or other reasons, financial hardships, so more people want to donate, and more people need to donate plasma for all of the medical issues currently going on. Having said that, today is not the first time I have walked out. In fact, I think this is actually the third time. My appointment was for 7:20 and I arrived in time to check-in early, they only allow early check-in by ten minutes, and stand in-line. The first issue I had was as soon as I walked in, I saw there was a huge line, like to the bathrooms, to simply get into a seat to be hooked up for donation. I thought, maybe it will move quickly, so I proceeded to get checked-in with the computer. I don't know why but no matter what computer I go to, there is always difficulty in reading my fingerprint. It took so many times for it to read my fingerprint at the end, the computer asked me if I wanted to continue. Finally it recognizes my fingerprint and then I stand in-line to get checked in with the blood pressure, temperature (temp check number 2), weight, and finger stick. I do not know what happened this morning but the blood pressure cuff actually hurt so much that I had to rip it off before it could stop inflating. Jonathan (the tech checking me in) grabbed another blood pressure cuff, one that was longer than the first, but I still had the same issue. The blood pressure cuff was over inflating to the point of pain. I expected it to be uncomfortable but not painful and above all, I should not walk away with bruising because of it. I ended up walking out because of the issues with the blood pressure cuff and because I could see the line to get into a chair was moving extremely slowly and I did have to get back to work. I'm going to try again in the future because I think donation is a good thing, the extra cash doesn't hurt, but it's more because of what the plasma can do for others. I will not, however, waste my time by spending over two hours there, and it seems rather irrational to have appointment times if you cannot actually get in at your appointment time. One final note: you can only donate twice in a seven day period, so be very cognizant of when you make your appointments because it can have a negative impact if you're attempting to reach the bonus dollars. read more

I don't know what your perception of plasma donation is or of those who donate but I can tell you this, so far my experience at BioLife has been great. My experience so far has been nothing like my old days when I was in college. The facility is state of the art. The place is bright, open and extremely clean. The donors are pleasant and understand basic hygiene. I can't say the same about the last place I donated at back in the late 1990's. The staff are courteous and engaging which makes it nice to pop in twice a week to catch up. read more

Very awful honestly. I'm pretty sure most of the people who stick you, have only been here for 1 month or a little more. It's ridiculous honestly. Everytime I go, they poke me wrong and I end up bleeding all over the place. Like I think the blood is supposed to stay In the needle and tube, not all over my arm and on the floor. And I had to wait to get started for an hour today. It took them an hour to realize I was sitting in the bed without a needle in my arm. A man sat next to me and was sitting there for 2 minutes before someone came and helped him, looked right at me and walked away. I wasn't getting any help here even after I asked for it. If my appointment is at 7, and I'm in the bed ready to go at 7:15, why the hell would you start my donation at 8:22. Ugh I expected better. Would not recommend read more

This is the worst plasma donation center! When applying to donate for the first time you are not told half the things they make you do, like have your social security card with you. I'd you don't you get send home. This location makes it extremely hard to donate and do not tell you all the information upon applying to donate. I've donated here for about 4 months, the phlebotomists don't know what they are doing and I constantly got poked wrong or had blood streaming out of the needle. Management is useless, they will never answer the phone no matter the day or time. I got my donations suspended because I walked outside! This is a terrible place to donate plasma! read more

I don't understand the reason for appointments. I had an appointment at 6:10pm. Was in the chair at 6:50 and at 7:25 gave up, got up and left. I think I was next to get started but screw that. Everyone that was behind me had already been seated and most started already. I guess I got the slow section. 1-tell people ahead of time that you over book and you are running an hour over. 2- don't over book your appointments 3- don't have appointments if it means nothing 4- hire more people 5- figure out when it is most busy (look at appointments not hard) and schedule employees around busy times. read more

i am writing this review in a manner that I hope is respectful and helpful. I recently started my 3rd set of donations this year. The staff has always been very nice and efficient. Their process for providing your donation in theory is very efficient but something has changed with their staffing. This morning I went to donate and for the 3rd time in a row it was at least an hour wait to even be able to check in. Let alone the visible lines for screening and donation. These attempts have been on different days at different times. I'm accustomed to wait times to complete the donation but I have never seen this before. As a result of not being able to stay for extended wait periods it isn't possible to meet the coupon deadline. I highly doubt I will attempt to ever donate again. read more
