As a first time donor, make sure you have time in your day, if you're in a rush come a different day. However they will walk you through the entire process and help if you need anything. This place is amazing. People at the front always greet with a smile and kindness. The people on the donor floor are quick and professional. There is water and snacks at the entrance. The area is always clean. Two of my experiences there- I broke my glass water bottle on the donor floor, they attended to the problem quickly. They were understanding. Another, is a worker saying a comment in regards to a person asking to pick up their wallet. She made an unnecessary comment about how the wallet doesn't have any money & that's why the young gentleman is there. She has a rude attitude all around. read more

I'm pretty sure that more than half of the phlebotomists at this location genuinely have little-to-no clue what they're doing. You actually have to instruct some of these phlebotomist beforehand to insert the needle Slowly, otherwise they will just stab it into your arm, causing significant pain and bruising. TWO times within a span of just six weeks, I developed a diblitating hematoma as a result of their poor procedures and practices. The first hematoma put my arm out of commission for more than 2 weeks, and I endured chronic pain and several sleepless nights because of it. The 2nd hematoma (which occurred on my last visit) is the reason why I will never return. On both occasions, I witnessed my forearm swell up like a balloon as the blood was being siphoned out of my veins. And when I tried to flag down a phlebotomist to either remove the needle or stop the machine, they took their sweet old time to come to my assistance; no sense of urgency whatsoever. This place is dangerous. About 3-4 weeks ago, there was a donor who had to be carried out of the facility via ambulance, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was due to negligence or malpractice on the part of the phlebotomist. AVOID this location at all costs! The little chicken-change that they throw your way for your valuable plasma is not worth the likelihood of being handicapped for 1-3 weeks (especially if you work a job that requires lifting!). They will reel you in with 'high' new-donor rates, but those rates will drop by more than 50% after the 1st month, just a heads up. read more

If they would staff appropriately the wait time could be cut in half. As long as I have been donating, CSL employees have always complained about being short staffed. I'm writing this for the people who truly matter -- those who are struggling to find work and are trying to donate plasma to get by. Don't come at me defending this company -- wrong is wrong, no matter who does it. Let me be clear: don't waste your time donating here if you're expecting the referral or rewards bonus. They will give you the runaround and act like the bonus is coming out of their own paycheck. I followed all the steps, told them I was referring someone, and still did not receive my payout. The points were supposed to be worth around $50 in cash. I had to escalate the issue, and each representative kept lying to me about little things. One rep, who was unprofessional, said her name was Peoria. I didn't catch the name of the man who wasn't any help either. Eventually, I spoke with someone named Vicky, who claimed to be a manager -- but it turned out she wasn't. After that, I got passed off to someone named Viola or something like that. At this point, I don't even care what their names were. It's unacceptable that employees falsely claim to be managers and act like it's okay to handle serious matters this unprofessionally. I have never had a bad experience here. Wait times are normal- just like any other place- if you come when it's packed. Simply pick a time that isn't. Every time I go, I don't wait long. Longest was maybe 15 minutes. Usually it's like 5 or 1 minute. I go when it's a Sunday like 2pm. Or Saturday same time. The staff is great. Facility is up to par. There was only ever one wired intake lady but I just would skip her. They give you a lab coat if you're cold while donating. Temperature is very tolerable until the last part of the donation when it's freezing but only lasts a minute. Overall it's a good donation center. read more

Other people having nothing else to do the next person come in they yell in the checker guy name, literally already has his eyeballs rolled up so far to his head even to check your veins in front of everyone. His eyes were bloodshot and he was extremely slow at moving and also speaking, not to mention the heavy smell of Marijuana coming off of his lab coat. If you come in with a high quality of care or experience in expectance based off of the website you will be surely disappointed. On the website you are told to make an appointment and be prepared to wait two hours for new donor process and donation. With an appointment it had taken me 41/2 hours, on top of the fact that it took an hour to be called back for the medical assessment, so in total I sat there for 5 1/2 hours. The women working the front desk very rude as in they seemed as if checking in donors was their largest annoyance. Asking questions is out of line. You'll be scoffed at and replied with a nasty tone. Unfortunately for anyone who is in dire need for the donation money you will be treated worst than trash. In my time sitting and waiting I did at least one front desk lady smile and seem cheery, but it was cause she was taking a personal call from the front desk, so I do know that I'm not misinterpreting RBF. One of the slowest plasma locations I have been to. I really thought it would be just that day. But the speed of the same workers is pretty consistent unfortunately. A few staff members do stick out for their bad attitude as well but don't let that ruin the image of the rest of the staff! Keep in mind not ALL staff are slow. Few are very good at the job like Sydney. She is excellent. They also keep it extremely cold so bring a jacket. And make sure you have 2-3 hours of free time. On the bright side, they pay out decently for returning donors better than most. The staff was super friendly and helpful as a first time donor being nervous, not knowing the ins and outs dos and donts they didn't make you feel bad about it . Registering and the initial set up took a couple of hours but honestly because they were so nice about it I didn't mind at . I didn't get the names of the First Lady who took care of me during the registration process and the female medical lady both were super nice and didn't feel rushed at all . Poor Doc couldn't help but sneeze throughout my physical y'all need to do something and help her out. Put a high end humidifier or something with top grade hepa filters to help her out sheesh. At CSL I got banned for life because I asked the hypothetical question: "If I were to begin taking an antibiotic, would this be a problem?" I clearly stated that I was not taking an antibiotic, that I did not have a prescription for an antibiotic, and that I had not been to any doctor. I was told that I was banned from CSL because asking this question seemed to imply that I had a bacterial infection. I was told that I would not be able to return to CSL until I had a signed letter from a doctor stating that I don't have a bacterial infection. This is effectively banning me for life because it is not possible to prove a negative. You can prove that something exists by finding an example, but you don't prove that something doesn't exist by not finding any examples. "Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence." I'm not going to go to a doctor because I'm not sick. If I did go to a doctor I would have to pay about $100 for an examination, and the examination would involve the doctor telling me that I need blood tests done that cost a couple of hundred dollars apiece. Weeks later I would go in for another $100 examination and be told that the tests came up negative, but this doesn't prove that I don't have a bacterial infection because the tests don't cover every possible kind of bacteria, so more tests would be needed. Many months and many thousands of dollars later, the doctor would tell me that it is not yet proven that I don't have a bacterial infection so I still can't get a signed letter stating with 100% certainty that I don't have a bacterial infection. The fact is that everybody has bacteria in his or her body, but this doesn't cause any problem in people with a healthy immune system. read more

WORST DONATION CENTER DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! Honestly, this center has been so far the worst experience I had. I got there at 12:28 noon and got out at 4:30pm. It is so disorganized and the staff is not well prepared. The place looks like a popular market and not like a professional center. People all over the place, lines. Horrible. First, when I was sitting creating my profile and talking to the person who was checking my SS and DL and taking my fingerprints a lady came and asked me to step out side because a guy needed to fix his fingerprint. It was super rude, but okay cool. I waited to be called again. Second, I answered all the questionnaire at the kiosk and then made my line (which took forever) just to be asked to REDO the whole questionnaire again (and of course de line at the kiosk and vitals AGAIN) because they had an issue with the system. Third, they had to poke me TWICE because the lady didn't take enough blood to read my plasma when they did the vitals. Fourth, the medical part came (I had to wait 20 minutes more) just to be told that I couldn't donate because I am breastfeeding. The lady who made the medical part was so unprofessional explaining the reason why. She just told me "we are stricter than other centers you can get sick" I mean, I've been in 2 other centers and they checked their books and risks and everything and they told me that I was okay. To this day I didn't get sick. They had people who smelled as they were smoking cigarettes all day, and they can donate? I mean... After 4:30 hours and the horrible experience all I got was "I'm sorry, you can't donate. Bye" I was so stupid that I even asked "should I give you the card back?" She said "you can keep it". So, you can keep a prepaid card without nothing as souvenir. I went out literally crying, they made me waste my time and I was treated so bad. So please DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE. DO NOT DONATE HERE. I have been waiting for 3 hours and when they finally took my heart rate and blood pressure, my heart rate was at 48 bpm which is 2 bpm less than the required bpm of 50. They took my heart rate twice and it remained the same. However, they let me know that they do have an exception for low heart rates for athletes, I would just need to be evaluated by medical. I told them that's fine, and as I went into medical I was told that I have to be "a professional athlete" in order to be qualified. I cannot be labeled an athlete because I play sports, I have to get paid for it. Not even the college level counts. He said that because my heart rate was already taken twice, he cannot take it a third time and I have to go home. He also informed me that those who took my vitals were supposed to wait 15 minutes before the second take. They did not wait 15 minutes, they waited about one second. Now, they have sent me home, and I am not allowed to donate today. Reasoning: I run every day, I lift weights everyday, I play sports, and I just happen to be in too good of a shape to donate plasma. read more

I waited 2 and 1/2 hours to donate going through their entire process up until the Med portion. 1 employee of the several I encountered in my ridiculously long wait, accused me of smelling like MJ. So if I smelled like MJ while sitting in the public waiting area with people walking in and out for 2 1/2 hrs more than one complaint/observation would have been made, right? So they tell me you can come back tomorrow and donate. Why would I risk wasting more of my time when all it takesis one staff member "thinking" you smell like MJ. Absolutely fucking ridiculous. They can keep that skimpy $85 and I'll go to Biolife that's giving $100 a donation and allows you to schedule an appointment so you don't have to wait hours just for vitals and intake. oh and they also discriminate based on behaviors so if you have ADHD, Autism or other behavioral disorders they may defer you as well, simply because you're different. Go to Biolife! P.S. the crazier part is while waiting for the bus by the church across the street some donors came and started smoking blues lol but it's a good thing they stop MJ users. I want to be fair as today was only my 3rd visit. You get treated like royalty on your first visit. After all the initial application, training and screening (extensive) they move you to the front of the line. However, plan on being there 3 hours on your first visit, start-to-finish. They also give you a coupon to skip to the front of the line on visit #2. My 2nd visit was most unpleasant. About halfway through the donation, the draw was going too slow. The phlebotomist repositioned the needle (or whatever it's called) twice more after the initial insert, causing a horrible bruising that took 3 weeks to finally go away. FYI, if bruising is present, you can't donate at all. Additionally, the wait lines were long and the the understaffing is becoming more obvious. Visit #3 - It took a total of 2 hours, 45 minutes. 10:45am - 12:30pm. Actual donation only took an hour, so the rest of the time was taken up by kiosk check in, seeing medical for them to verify my bruise was gone, and then.......the horrible screening wait. Thankfully, the phlebotomist was very good. Nice clean stick, no bruising. Here's my 2-cents worth: CSL has a lack of employees in the "front of the house". (They have plenty of phlebotomists in the "back of the house"). Only 1 person worked the front desk. The queue wait to be screened is far too long. There are 6 stations for screening, but on my 3 visits, no more than 2 were ever in use at one time. Those 2 screeners also had to work the front desk for new donors, answer the phone, send folks to "medical" and occasionally wipe down common public contact surfaces. Additionally, one of the screeners had to pull double duty to cover for the front desk, when that employee went to lunch...thus increasing the donor's wait time even longer. The med screen you have to take at every visit, (weigh in, finger stick, temperature check) takes anywhere from 4-6 minutes. If 5 is the average time, if there are 12 people in line, plan on waiting an hour or more just to get screened. Then if the plasma bays are backed up too.......well.....count on spending 2.5 to 3 hours at every visit. On the upside, the staff are friendly. I look at it this way.....if you don't mind the wait, ......and you WILL wait......you're going to make about $50 an hour, tax free. Whether you're trying to make ends meet, or just want some "mad money"........You can't beat that with a stick. read more

On the donor floor my donation was extremely difficult. They collapsed my left arms vein then shoe Ed the needle in so far I cut off the blood flow to my hand. After the third adjustment they decided to use the right arm and had to adjust it twice more. I highly recommend BioLife as an alternative for the reason that I feel they are more trained and professional. The donation process at CSL was about six cycles compared to the ten to twelve at BioLife. This expedited process left me sick. At the end a senior phlebotomist asked who initially inserted the needle and I told her, the other phlebotomist took offense and wrote in my profile that I said "I'm about to loose my sh!t" which is a total joke. I have a 6 month deferral from her. I will be returning to BioLife and staying for the safer donation process. read more

I love the staff at this place but the people at corporate are horrible ..I referred someone there and helped him set up his app under his email, he went for his first donation did everything he had to do little did we know the guy there screwed up his name and created a different account for him with his phone number which we didn't know so this whole time we were trying to activate his rewards before his second visit but it wouldn't let us activate it so we called and they couldn't find his account with the email we set up they said it was under his phone number which wasn't what we set up sooooo because of that, (he did his 5 donation plus more) they wouldn't reward me my $150 and him his $50 ..it wasn't our fault it was all them I've called and they don't care they reread the rules and I explain hey your guy screwed up his account and created a totally different one not telling him so we basically got screwed and they don't care I even talked to someone at the office and she even said it's happened before so she emailed corporate explaining what happened but we still haven't heard back I even tried calling this girl but now I get "she's not in the office "ugh ...so we did what we were suppose to but since the guy messed it up we got screwed and they can care less I will never ever refer anyone ever again ...employees on the floor and vitals are amazing but corporate is full of crap read more
