I went in to donate plasma and had a very concerning experience during the initial screening. When I was called to the station to have my iron and protein checked with a finger prick, the area had not been cleaned from the previous donor. There was visible blood left on the station and materials that had been used before me. What was most alarming was how it was handled. The staff member wiped the station using a towel that already had the other person's blood on it, flipped it over so the blood side touched her glove, and then proceeded to take my finger prick without changing gloves. Seeing someone else's blood present and then watching the same gloves used on me made me extremely uncomfortable and anxious about possible exposure to bloodborne illnesses. I ended up feeling so overwhelmed that I fainted shortly after. After I came to, I explained privately that the situation with the visible blood and glove contact was what caused my anxiety. I was told gloves do not need to be changed unless there is contact with another person's blood, but in this case the glove clearly had made contact with blood that was not mine. While the staff did assist me when I fainted, there were additional concerns. At one point another staff member came over and began discussing another patient's information out loud, which seemed like a violation of patient privacy. I'm sharing this experience in hopes that better sanitation and privacy practices are enforced. I came in here for the first time and it was a poop show. Complete chaos. When I was ready to do the questionnaire, the lady told me to go over there. I saw a seat and sat down. She saw me sitting there. I was there for over an hour. When I asked how much longer, they said oh you have to go to the computers. Well that's not where she had originally pointed to. She saw me sitting there. I caught her staring at me. Why didn't just come tell me to go sit at the computer and answer the questions. I ended up being here for over six hours. Who runs this place? What a horrible experience. Then when I got i in touch with the their bank to find an In-Network ATM they kept asking me to verify my email. I only have two emails that I use. They said neither worked. I don't understand why they need to access my account just to tell me where the In-Network ATMs are. End of story, I gave up and told them I probably won't be selling any more plasma. Overall pretty crappy experience. Poor leadership. Only good thing was some of the people who worked seemed to care. Some. Perhaps if they treated people with some respect and dignity, they would not have problems with people returning. read more

First visit here was welcomed kindly and given snack and protein drink for my 1st visit and know for next time to eat a meal 2 hrs minimum before my visit. Even though it seemed I made my appointment during a time of high volume of donors coming in everything from start to beginning went smooth and that was me entering there after my work shift which is close by to the facility. Of course being understaffed at BioLife Plasma and going at a busy time of the day you must consider the time that you will be there and be patient about it because going in is completely voluntary. The old lady hella put pressure while taking my vitals and It actually hurt when she poked my finger, which it shouldn't hurt that much and then the other young lady shoved the needle way to far in my vein and the guy had to pull inches out of it so that my blood can pump better , I would say octapharma is way better. I had a gold avon wrist bracelet stolen from me. My wireless headphones slipped out of my pockets when I was laying on the bed and I couldn't get up to retrieve them.(I believe that's where they slipped out) I had them before the donation even started because I was asked to remove everything from my pocket before the weigh in and remember putting them in my pocket. read more

I have been donating plasma for years now at this location of BioLife and I must say I'm the recent months I have been in and out of there with no bed waits anymore . The quickness of the front check in with stars like Danielle and Kya is stellar. When it comes to the phlebotomists I get I have to say the professionalism of people such as Max, Christopher and Odalis oh and of course Gino and Tyler is unmatched. They really care and want you to have a pleasant and comfortable visit and will do their best to get you in and out without delay. Beware. I've already had a negative experience before with Mara I believe by leaving blood pools on my arm and snapping at patients but this time with CHRISTOPHER might result in this being my last visit. Christopher is a manager at this location that has a power trip stemming from the authority. I've been to this location 16 times. Sometimes I'm late for an appointment sometimes I'm early sometimes I'm on time. I've seen people show up 2 hours before their appointment and get accepted. So why today when I was 11 minutes late did Christopher try to tell me tough luck I missed the cut off try to get another appointment?I was able to get another appointment in 5 minutes luckily so no issues there other than wasting my time, then it comes time to take my height. He then demands I take off my shoes and stand barefoot and the scale in which I decline. He then says he will not continue with the screening and I have to leave unless I take off my shoes though my boyfriend who was present and many other have never been forced to be barefoot. The place I was meant to stand was dirty. I make him ask another manager just for him to miraculously figure out you can keep your shoes on... shocker.. he continued on and lo and be hold my iron is off by 1 point according to him. And yet last time, I also remember making that exception to someone else. I can't help to think was my iron really off of is Christopher's incompetence and pettiness finally reaching his head?? My tip : get better and friendlier and more efficient staff members. JD is awesome and they're are more to be named. But today with Chris was disgusting to be frank, hopefully I have a better experience in San Marcos or maybe time to ditch this company. This review was from three days ago : I decided to come back today 7/26 to see if I was being crazy. My appointment was at 7:40 and my boyfriend's at 7:20. Why was he accepted in with no problem or hassle almost 20 minutes after his appointment time when he arrived with me but when I was 11 minutes late Christopher couldn't dislodge the stick from his ass to allow me to enter. I've been here in the past and when they had the proper staffing levels they were easily able to handle a greater patient volume. In fact, I want to acknowledge the staff working as basically the only positive. The only reason I gave two stars instead of one is because of them. They care and want to do their jobs effectively, but clearly there is a lack of sufficient staffing and resources. The low energy also leads one to assume a morale problem. All of this can be tied to poor management/a lack of effective leadership. This understandably translates into an ineffectively functioning donation clinic. Management needs to get their house in order (or perhaps just leave and allow for new leadership). read more

TRUST THOSE WHO YELP REGULARLY... Been getting the ads regularly, finally made an appointment (for the same day), reviewed the required documents (social security card, utility statement, ID), and headed over. I called ahead to confirm things. The guy who answered the phone could hardly be understood and seemed irritated that I called. I asked a simple question, which he didn't know how to answer. I decided to drive over and speak with someone in person. It was my first time, so I was 3 minutes late trying to locate the space. I walked in, stepped up to the unmanned front desk, and eventually was asked a question from [presumably] the same guy who answered the phone (young, black man). I asked him to repeat the incomprehensible question... he said "what time is your appointment," so I responded. He seemed irritated and told me to have a seat, waving his hand in some direction. Again, had to ask him to repeat his comment. While waiting, a guy came in with his phone playing loud music, with no regard for others, and another guy came in on his skateboard. Both nen looked... let's say "hard-pressed." I proceeded to read the YELP reviews and after waiting about 10 minutes, listening to very unprofessional comment by staff, watching the other two patrons, and reading reviews... I canceled my appointment online and went to San Diego Blood Bank, where it's MUCH cleaner and more professional. NOT RECOMMENDED!!! read more

Came here to make money while in school and it's concerning how they use the same pair of gloves for everyone the poke. They use the same gloves to poke everyone with a needle and collect blood to test iron levels and protein. They come in contact with blood with every donor. They DO NOT change gloves in between donors. I have gone plenty of times and have literally seen them all wear the same gloves to poke hundreds of people all day with, and "clean" the surfaces in between donors with a raggedy towel. I have seen them literally put hand sanitizer on their gloves in between donors...... anyone that knows anything about hand hygiene knows that this is not an acceptable practice in the medical field. read more

For the promotion they provided me with a debit card and loaded it with the agreed $amount after each donation. The debit card is easy to use at point of sale and cash back. Walked in, the man (I think Alfonso?) who helped me acted annoyed like I was disturbing him. The heavy sighs, eye rolling and checking his phone, as if my presence was really messing up his morning. Then later a girl asked if he had his redbull, he said no. So apparently his attitude from a lack of caffeine, I thought he had no manners. Checking my vitals, that woman nice, the nurse was that went over every thing was great. Then I get out on the floor, every thing went smooth until the end. My machine stopped, and I waited. A man to my left, his machine stopped a few mins after mine. Then a guy in another section, his machine stops a few more minutes after the guy to my left. Then I think she was a manager of some sort, she helped the man to my left, which made sense she was next to him. I have been DONE for roughly 7-10mins and was shivering from the saline being pumped in me. SHIVERING. But I was trying to be patient. The girl then walks PAST me to unhook a man who she seemed to know. Since prior he was asking her how trip to Texas was while she was cleaning another station, he was seated WAY after me as well. So I sat up. To start warming up my body, I'm not going sit there and just suffer after being ignored so she can attend to some man who was done 7-10mins AFTER me, she had to walk past me to even get to him, he was in a different section across the room from where she was initially at. After she informs me that I have to stay laying down and wait MY turn as people finish before me. I just smiled and said okay. BOTH the men she helped were done AFTER me. I get being busy, it wasn't about being busy. Some of the staff are just rude and really hate their job, it shows. Maybe eat before work like you suggest your patients and you'll have a better attitude. read more

I had one that was $500 for 4 donations but they said I HAD to do $700 for 8 donations because the computer already applied it, even though one of the staff said that I would have the choice. Let's be honest, nobody comes here for fun, people come here for the money. Well the first few times I've come it's always been something, and I end up being there for about 3 hours, such a drag. I've been to phlebotomy school myself so i'm a little familiar with the procedures, so I found it pretty disgusting that they don't change their gloves regularly, they don't ask you to verify your information to make sure it's you, and other minor things. Well the first couple times the only thing that would bother me was how long I would be there (I obviously needed the money or else I would've just left) But today, today was such a bad day there for me. I couldn't donate for whatever reason, so they make me give a blood sample. Cool, whatever. They seat me at one of the beds (which was dirty from the patient prior) that had the arm rest on the right side, and so this woman (idk her name but she wore a hot pink face cover, had dark curly hair, with some pretty terrible eyeliner) doesn't greet, doesn't ask how i'm doing, no nothing just says "so the right side?" and I replied with "no, I prefer my left side" and with the most honestly just super unprofessional tone and she just seemed so miserable to be there said "WELL WHEN YOU HAVE THIS ON THE RIGHT SIDE IT IS INDICATING YOU WANT IT ON THAT ARM" When she could've simply in a way more understanding tone just said "okay, please move it to your preferred side" or something like that, but no. So i moved the pillow thing to my left side and she starts bitching about how I need to pull my shirt up because she can't draw my blood through my shirt and how just a million things and in my mind I said "no shit? really?" Like if I didn't already know that, but say I didn't know that for whatever reason, is that really a way to talk to someone??? Point being, too many people at this location feel way too comfortable giving you some unnecessary attitude, it's safe to say just go to the San Marcos location, the ten extra minutes driving will be worth it. It's crazy how one person can ruin your entire perspective on a whole location. Bio Life Plasma do better and monitor how your employees talk to your patients. I'm disgusted with this place. May seem like something most people can get over, but not me, this woman whoever she is ruined this whole experience for me. The center is very clean and the staff is pretty friendly and and understanding if you let them know you're going to be a few minutes late for your appointment due to traffic or anything. Donating plasma is ultimately for a good purpose, yes. However they don't pay very well. As a first time donor, you get a good chunk of change of $100+. But after your "your at time donor" promotion is over, it's only $140 a week. $40 for the first donation of the week and $100 for the second. It resets every Sunday. I highly recommend not doing the first donation of the week on a Saturday. You can only donate twice a week and there has to be a day between donations. If you donate on a Saturday and only get the $40, and then donate on a Monday next you're going to get $40 again. Times are very tough and I have an absolutely crazy schedule with my job and family at home.. It's almost not worth donating just for the gas money it takes to get there... I love donating because it's for a good purpose, it's not very personally rewarded. read more

I don't have anything negative to say. I'm on my third donation but so far everything's been fine. The nurses are very helpful, overall the staff is very kind and gentle. Huge shoutout to Valerie, she is so sweet and made the process so much smoother and comforting! Just keep in mind- you'll be here for quite some time, depending on when you go. I had an appointment around 3 on a Thursday and was out by 4:40. But I had my appt today at 11:15, and it's now 12:30 and I'm still waiting for a bed. read more

Just horrible customer service! Absolutely zero acknowledgment of my existence until about 4 minutes waiting at the front desk, even though there were 3 people speaking to one another in hurried and flustered tones right in front of me--it seemed like the work, the customers, and the inputting of information on the various computer terminals, was way above their heads. One of them finally acknowledged me in a distant and irritated manner. I thought I heard him say he needed my Social Security card and drivers license, so when I placed it in front of him, he said he did not need it. His voice was a whisper, so it was difficult to hear him as the place was a buzz with activity and noise--it was apparent by his attitude that he just did not want to be there. Unfortunately, they could not take me because I had not had a full breakfast, and I take full accountability for that, as according to him, that was on their website. I would have rescheduled on the app, but I just decided to leave. I don't know what this company's hiring practices are, but they really need to focusing on training their employees to be more welcoming and less rude. read more

You need to be aware that you may not be able to donate if you don't pass the screening. You will not be seen earlier than your appointment if you arrive hours ahead of time of your appointment as they will see walk ins before your appointment. Confirm the monetary dispensation prior your visit so your not disappointed. read more

Walked in for first appointment, of the 3 "nurses" standing there none said hi, they were to busy talking and dancing with in themselves.. waited another 5 minutes, still no one, meaning none of the 10 twenty something year olds even acknowledged i was there. They were all in the back area jumping and dancing to the music. Must have interrupted their tik tok moment. Eventually i walked out, nothing of what I experienced gave me confidence or assurance to allow them to take my plasma. These kids have no manners and that big red flag was obvious when I walked in. They discriminate against people who don't have a "permanent address" here. I use multiple addresses, but they said that I need a "permanent address". I even verified my address with recent mail and a government issued ID. I donated plasma at a different plasma donation center, twice a week, for OVER THREE YEARS. Obviously, MY PLASMA IS JUST AS GOOD AS ANY PERSON WITH A "PERMANENT ADDRESS". But it isn't good enough here. read more

It took awhile but I was prepared for that I didn't expect to be in and out quickly for my first visit. Don't let them make you think there is a shortage of plasma. They're willing to defer perfectly healthy donors AND they are constantly changing the payments. Your time never becomes less valuable, so why pay your donors less? Thought it was a good way to make a quick buck but the stress was not worth it. read more

I want to give a good review because most of the staff is awesome. However. Seems like their machines are off. To the point the one I used said my heart rate was 108 and then 114. I was measuring on my phone the whole time (pretty accurate and started doing this after several denials for high heart rate which was odd for me) which said 82-91. So according to them I failed and couldn't donate bc heart rate too high. After questioning this, they measured on another machine - 84. Well witihin the range I was getting on my phone. The supervisor stood there, arms crossed and obviously unapologetic or caring and said their machines are calibrated all the same. Ok why is there a 30 point difference on your two machines? Your heart rate was more over there. But shouldn't it be close? You were stressed over thechecking. So why did my phone have the same range as your macine here? No concrete reasons give, just that they can't my phone reading. Understand that, but your machine here says 84 (matching what my phone says) and my heart rate should be higher now because of this conversation. She just stared at me and said her hands are tied. Starting to wonder if there machines give a false readings so they don't have to pay the higher rates when a customer is on a promo. Fyi, your false numbers had me at a Dr looking for answers. They could not replicate the high pulse and said I'm fine. read more
