This is the worst plasma center ever that's why I go to biomat usa down the streets they pay you better they're super nice they let you watch TV and charge your phone and if somebody calls you you can answer your phone. Today they were giving me such problems giving me my money when there wasn't one person in the center around 10 in the morning that's how bad this place is, I had to go to King Soopers three times before they put my money on my card and I was upset and almost got in a fight with one of the employees down there when the boss is sitting right there

I have donated blood products for years including whole, platelets & plasma. Usually at a blood drive or non profit center. Last Friday I attempted to donate plasma at Biomat Aurora. After a few minutes I felt extreme pressure near the needle insertion, which turned into pain. I immediately stopped the donation. I never received an explanation as to what happened. The staff was more concerned about whether I would receive full compensation. I was told to ice the area. When I asked again exactly what happened, I was told this happens "every day."The result was 4 days of severe pain & bruising. I could not fully use my arm. I could not sleep due to pain. I had to use a 1/2 day of emergency PTO at work. I have bruising that will probably be visible for weeks. Will look real nice in my halter dress I intend to wear for an upcoming wedding. I'm not sure the phlebotomy staff is adequately trained. Beware!

What's the pay scale for new donors, than what's it after the first 4?

We are excited that you want to learn more about being part of the Grifols donor family. The specific compensation amount depends on where your plasma donor center is located, how often you donate and any promotions that are currently taking place.… Read more

When you walk in, I checked in and sat for my screening where they checked my weight, took my pic, verified my identity and did a quick prick to test my blood. Afterwards, I did a questionnaire which took about 15 min. You also will meet with a medical specialist to do a quick physical to make sure you're in good healthy to proceed. The staff was very INFORMATIVE and polite. They made me feel at ease and comfortable during the entire process. The donation part itself took me about one hour from start to finish. I personally thought it was an uncomfortable process having the blood drained out of you. I had a few moments where I felt quesy but made it through. The facility itself was very cleans and busy. It was packed. My first appointment took 4 hours! So make sure you set aside time. I'm sure your second one will be better. But expect to wait since many people will be there. Trying to make two appointments in one week as they recommend is nearly impossible. Slots fill up fast so make sure you get on it.

I'll just keep adding and adding photos until things improve here. It feels like NO ONE is listening.

My father wanted his body donated to science and then cremated. This is exactly what Meaningful…read moreDonation does, and they do it at no cost. When my dad passed away, the hospital gave me the contact info for "Meaningful Donation" in Aurora Colorado, and I called them. They have an after hours answering service (a real person, not a robot) who took a message, and I received a call back from the company within 30 minutes. They were very kind and compassionate throughout the process, and they took care of all arrangements with the hospital. They will collect the body, provide next of kin with a signed death certificate, use the body for science and medical research (teaching medical students), and then cremate the remains and send some of the ashes back to the surviving family member. I highly recommend this option for people who prefer cremation to casket and burial.

We are strong believers in this process but the communication broke down quickly. We were unable to contact the owner and did not get a call back after his passing. Her mailbox was full and the 24 hour line was an automated robot that was frankly off putting. (My father was properly picked up from hospice care and tended to, we just didnt get the notification about it.) We then received documentation that we were not suppose to receive that added grief and confusion. Without the communication and explanation from the owner, we were left frazzled and confused. Unfortunately, when we did get in touch with owner, her emotions were more important than ours in this gentle state. My fathers brain was able to be donated ahead of our communication after her passed, but after we finally got in touch, it got personal wanting to go over why a comment that I made (and apologized for) hurt her feelings. She then got more personal telling me her mailbox did not have a personal message because she had creditors coming after her. We were then told we had to find another solution for the remainder of the remains of my father. This was cruel to leave us in this situation. Our conversations we prioritized by her needing to vent her feelings and not understanding how sad we were during this time and just wanting to do the right thing. Again, we believe in this process, and strongly encourage others to participate. Just not through this company. We weren't looking for "free cremation services" or a "free transportation" (this we got- a whopping $150 value. lucky us). We genuinely wanted to honor my dad's wishes, but this company didn't let that happen. We have had 2 other experiences with this type of donation and were never met with this type of situation.
