I must revise my review due to ongoing issues with the work carried out by Bioscapes. I had earlier indicated that the roots from the shrub removal were still visible and was informed that the root balls had been extracted and that this was sufficient. While I was setting up Christmas decorations, I observed that one of the bushes has begun to regrow, which seems to be regarded as a miracle since the root ball was supposedly removed! Additionally, I noticed that a considerable portion of the newly installed concrete slab is distinctly discolored due to inconsistent or improper mixing. Unfortunately it seems I will have to resolve this through our court system. read more

I have used Bioscapes on three major projects and have been completely satisfied with the results of their services that included meeting with me and helping me with the designing and planning of each project. The project included a complicated French drain that started in the far side of my backyard and extended down the fence line of my property and emptied into the front lawn. The second project, which occurred a couple of years later was to install new sod in my front yard. The most recent project was to replace existing grass from one side of my yard and replace with gravel and step stones. None of the projects were simple one day projects. In most cases the jobs were 2-3 days of hard laborious work for the workers. Speaking of the workers. Pete Facundo is the director of the Bioscapes projects. Pete has always been honest, patient and a professional to work with. His employees are well trained and skillful in the performance of their work. I love these people. They have done two separate projects for me now and both were great and very affordable vs the competition. The most recent one was crazy. They were able to get out NEXT DAY to remove some tree stumps and concrete that were directly in the best spot in my yard to put a garden. I know this was a fluke due to having a random day open in their schedule but it helped me out so much as this means I can now set up a garden bed in this location before the season actually starts which is game changer for me this year. BioScapes did a great job on my landscape project. I had Pete and his team place metal edging around by back yard, burry 70ft of French drain, lay 52 pavers, spread gravel, and pour a concrete porch. I had a clear plan for what I wanted to do, and I provided drawings to make sure my vision was communicated clearly. Pete followed my plans closely and communicated with me throughout the project to make sure we were on the same page, and to let me know of any potential changes. When I pointed out small details that weren't quite the way I wanted, Pete was happy to fix them to make sure I was satisfied with the project. The one piece of advice that I would give if you use BioScapes, or any other contractor, is to make sure you communicate every detail of what you imagine to make sure the project comes out the way you expect. read more

I've worked with several landscaping companies over the years, BioScapes stood out among them. As soon as Pete came out to give us a bid, I knew this was the company we would be using. Out of over one dozen bids Pete was the only one who actually recommended multiple solutions based on the space, described the process for each, and left us with a detailed written plan. Once we got started, there were some delays due to unexpected weather changes. The communication was superb and I always knew the plan and what was going to happen next. We used Bioscapes for a complete rebuild of our landscaping. This was a significant three phase effort, first phase clearing the existing ground and landscaping, second phase installing a large amount of crushed limestone gravel, including limestone edging for patios and walkways, and adding a steppingstone pathway from the front yard to the rear yard. But after I briefly explained my landscaping project, they kindly agreed to come out and provide me with an estimate. However, only after I paid a $75 fee. Normally, I would not pay for someone to come give me an estimate. It should have been my first clue that this business is NOT self-confident! I've continued to use Bioscapes for both my personal property and my rental property. They were consistent in the weekly care of my rental property while it was on the market to be sold and never did I have to worry about the curb appeal being less than perfect. They also did some other landscaping improvements at that property when I was preparing to be listed. Pete's team perfectly trimmed the two trees in the front, took out an over grown "shrub", planted some flowers and grasses, enlarged the back "stoop" into more of a "patio" and geve the entire LARGE yard a really good sprucing/cleaning up. I was extremely pleased with the work completed for the price I paid - outstanding. For our personal property, I work with Pete periodically when it needs care that we just can't find the time to provide. The ONLY complaint I've had (from my ultra particular partner) is that he needs to sharpen his blades and get use a mower with a bag (rather than a mulching mower). The only reason this is a concern at our home is because we have Zorro Zoysia grass, which is "sensitive" and "fine blade" grass that doesn't like being crowded by clippings. I live in a private neighborhood with a strict "no soliciting, no tresspassing" policy. After seeing the flyer on the door, I called to let them know. I spoke to someone who identified himself as the owner. His reaction to my complaint was stoic, so I continued to explain my issue with his company's solicitation. He gave an excuse and ended with "F*you, F*ing B*!" And hung up. Although I know nothing of their work, I would never recommend a business that cannot keep their cool with customers. I was looking to have a small patio addition built in my backyard. Pete left a flier on my front door and I decided to call for an estimate and discussion about what I wanted. He was very prompt and came that very day. About two weeks later I called him back and asked him to do the work after deciding on pavers. The work was done in a day. Although the work was done quickly, it was very sloppy. I called him the minute I saw the completed job with questions about the pavers being uneven, too sloped and very sloppy around the edges. What else is there? Many people have commented on what a mess it is. Pete said he would meet me to discuss revisions at 6:00pm the next day. He didn't show but sent an email instead reminding me of his years of experience. He agreed that the pavers in the middle are uneven but if I want it leveled there will be an additional labor cost. I could not be happier with Pete and his team. As long as the money keeps flowing on my end, I will continue to have BioScapes do as much as possible with my old house in Hyde Park. I've dealt with a lot of dishonest and incompetent construction services people here in Austin, so my BS detector is now always at high alert. Pete has proven to me that honest, friendly, fair, and highly competent construction service people do exist in this town. (I was spoiled in Chicago.) The first project Pete worked on was laying concrete to the entrance of my backyard, which was formerly dirt and rocks, and was just awful. His workers did a perfect, timely, and reasonably priced job. I then showed Pete a picture of a gorgeous two-door gate (again, for the entrance to my backyard). Pete's construction skills are quite extensive, and though he'd never made such a door before, he made a precise replica of the door I showed him. It is, bar none, GORGEOUS. I've now got other projects on my list. I will have Pete replace a small section of my exterior siding because of some "old house"-related problems, and at some future date have him replace my entire fence (pretty extensive) in cedar. I've read the low-starred reviews and it's not at all the Pete I know. Wow! That's the least I can say about our new paver patio. Pete did a great job with our project. We started out with a basic plan for a paver patio and to fix parts of our fence that were somehow still standing. Part of the yard we wanted to occupy is an odd shape so after some discussion between my wife and I and some helpful and valuable input from Pete, we ended up with an awesome outdoor living space. Bioscapes constructed our main paver patio space, large limestone slab stone with Colorado gravel, landscaping a beautiful garden with space to grow, stone work, AND fixed/constructed my fence. The entire process was simple. In our initial discussion, Pete broke down exactly how our project would be constructed. He was able to answer all our questions. Pete communicated any concerns or updates regularly. Plus we work from home few days a week so it was great to see the transformation and talk (bother , lol) Pete whenever we had additional questions. Bioscapes/Pete is a complete professional. Every time I look out at my yard I think of writing this review. I am really disappointed in the sloppy work and lack of expertise bioscapes showed. I came to them looking for ideas last year for my back yard. Nothing creative or helpful was offered in terms of design. Ultimately we ended on laying sod and creating a rock bed. Pete pushed zoysa grass bc of its drought resistance, even though the rest of my yard was St. Augustine. After having them come once and replace the grass when it didn't thrive I have realized the reason why it won't thrive is that Zoysa needs 6 to 8 hours of sun and day. The reason the rest of my backyard with Saint Augustine was doing well was because the yard is shaded almost the entire day. So I have bright green St. Augustine in one portion of my yard and dead Zoysa in the other. Additionally, they laid a border between the two grasses, and the masonry is some of the sloppiest I've ever seen. Finally, the rock bed was supposed to be low maintenance. However, the weed paper was laid so sloppily that it is constantly coming up out of the rocks, meaning that every weekend I now rake rocks. Essentially this job cost me $4000, and the yard looked better before it was done. Save the money and the headache and look elsewhere. read more
