It's been years since I last visited Posies Bakery & Cafe in Kenton, and I'm happy to report it's just as amazing as ever. [[HIGHLIGHT]]In fact, it was a refreshing blast from the past as it still has such a lovely old-school Portland flavor![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We arrived rather late in the day, so most of the items in their pastry case were sold out with the exception of several cookies. I had a lemon cookie that was soft and buttery, and tasted great with my iced chai latte. This is a cute little local café/bakery. I usually stop in here on the weekends to grab a quick cup of coffee and one of their delicious homemade treats. Their cookies are phenomenal, as are their muffins. I would say that they are a little on the higher priced side, but I don't mind paying extra because it's local, I've always gotten friendly service, and I feel like their food items are a level up from others. Went to Posies today for a snack with my little girl. She got her favorite cherry scone and I got a cinnamon roll because they looked good from a distance. I was very disappointed in my cinnamon roll as it had a cream cheese icing and the dough was very dry. Cream cheese is not what I want on a cinnamon roll. Pastry was served to me cold, when I bit into it - it was like it had been frozen or kept in a fridge and not a fresh pastry that I asked to be warmed up. Plain coffee was not filled to brim and left with 2 inches of room, and I was not asked for any room wanted. Stopped by to check out coffee and we were greeted with cookies and baked goods. Pumpkin bread, Nutella donuts and gluten free raspberry muffins. They looked so delicious. We stopped by after lunch at 1:30pm on a Saturday. They still have lots of abilities of good baked goods. We ordered a Lavender latte which was subtle in lavender and delicious in the cold January rainy weather. My friend ordered a Golden Milk Steamer. Delicious. This cafe has wheelchair ramp at the front door. Does breakfast and lunch and snacks here. They even have hummus and salad here in a cafe shop. We were actually aiming to go to An An next door but there were no tables available so we defaulted to Posies. A neighborhood coffee shop in Kenton. The space is big with many tables but still maintains its coziness. There is a large pastry case with many sweet and savory options. They also do breakfast items and sandwiches which are good for lunch. We got the Cortado that were nice and strong. For food, we went savory with the Breakfast Sandwich that came with two sunny side up eggs, bacon, and cheese in toasty sourdough slices. Pretty decent, nothing amazing. We also got the Parisian Sandwich that had turkey, brie, pear, and mint marmalade. I enjoyed the novel combo here. They worked surprisingly well together. This came with a side of chips and pickle. All in all, pretty happy with our visit. Would be back to try their pastries out. Pro tip: if you're eyeing their pistachio cake, it's only available on Saturdays. Learn from our mistakes! read more

I can't fathom a single reason this place doesn't have 5 stars. Baked goods are INCREDIBLE and the selection is off the charts so many good pastries to choose from. Breakfast sandwich is great, lunch sandos are fantastic (I love the Chicago personally) and most importantly, the coffee is STELLAR. Everyone working there knows exactly how to poor espresso at the right temp, the drinks are so smooth and flavorful and there are so many options. Employees are so kind and conversational, and the vibe is always right. Is it kinda pricy? Yes, it's 2026 in Portland idk what you expect. But the quality meets the price. After having brunch at nearby An An (they don't serve dessert), my sister and I wanted a sweet treat and the staff at An A suggested a cookie at neighbor restaurant Posies. We walked right in and ordered almost 1 of almost every cookie - lemon, snickerdoodle, oatmeal butterscotch, tahini chocolate chip, sugar frosted, pistachio and the Mexican cookie. Worth it! My friend is vegan and gluten free and she tried their vegan and gluten free chocolate expresso cake. The texture was not it lol. It was moist but a clay like consistency, and barely any chocolate or expresso flavor. The only chocolate flavor was from the chocolate frosting (which was very sweet). We didn't get to try their drinks, so possibly give that a try as they have lots of flavors! The 3 star rating is for the poor baked food item (which was really a 0 star rating) but the worker was very nice and able to look up ingredients for us. Side note: ever notice the name of the establishment is nowhere to be found inside? It is here though. The avocado toast (with egg) was a midrange version, i.e., I've definitely had better and also worse. I don't think egg is a good add-on to this popular breakfast item. Prices are in-line with comparable places. Service was friendly and parking has not been an issue. The crowd is mixed with a number of moms with SUV sized strollers and kids running back and forth. Came here to buy some Roseline coffee beans (my hosts favorite coffee brand specific to Oregon) for my Dad for Fathers Day. I saw that they were selling biscuits on weekends only so, even though brunch was happening a few hours later, I still went for it. Oh my goodness probably the best biscuit and best creamy butter accompaniment I've ever had the pleasure of tasting with my mouth. The butter tasted like it was just churned for 14 hours by someone in the back. So glad I tried that. Whenever I'm in town this is my go-to coffee shop. It definitely helps that it's around the corner from my childhood home. Some of my favorite items from this spot include iced/hot lattes with oat milk, chai lattes, blueberry muffins (regular and gluten free), strawberry cream cheese danish, croissants, and numerous cookies (cowboy is probably my fave).
