To consider, all a biscuit really is just made of are flour, sugar, fat and water mixed together and cooked up in the oven. The biscuits served here are large, flaky and even have a bit of a crunch to them. When you order, it is all done through their digital system either done by kiosk touchscreen or ordering through the website. Biscuits can be served with fried chicken, bacon, or sausage. You can certainly customize your biscuit to your liking. They also serve biscuits & gravy, donut holes, fries, and variety of drinks. I got the bird bird bacon served with egg, chipotle mayo, bacon and cheese. It certainly is a full sized breakfast sandwich. The over easy egg is cooked well, chipotle mayo gives it a good kick, crunchy bacon and of course the overall flaky crispy biscuit that it resides on. I have had the fried chicken biscuit in the past, which is cooked well, but no amazing seasoning flavor stood out for it. BBB has been around for several years in Austin and has been an overall local success. If you appreciate a quality made biscuit, this is your spot. Drawbacks might be considered the price is a bit high for what you order, the chicken flavor seems just alright, seating is all outdoors here, and their menu items are kinda limited. We always get the Queen Beak (salivating just thinking of it) and a batch of dough doughs to split, but my nephews both devoured the firebird, and I've just had the biscuits on their own and they are so flaky, buttery and good just by themselves! Don't let the word "biscuit" throw you, either: these are not your standard pilsbury biscuits--these boys are monsters! I can only usually eat half before putting in the towel. Today's visit was with my daughter and her boyfriend. He was visiting from Chicago and his first time at Bird Bird Biscuit. Despite some rain earlier this morning, it was dry but cloudy when we went. We grabbed one end of a picnic table as soon as it opened up after we ordered. The artificial turf was wet, but with awning, the tables were dry and outdoor seating was surprisingly comfortable despite a little before noon on a Saturday the wait time wasn't bad at all. While I love the queen beak, I opted for the Bird Bird Bacon sandwich today because I knew I couldn't eat the whole thing and the leftovers are always great later in the day. I love when the egg yolk and the chipotle mayonnaise mix on the sandwich elevates the flavor and it's just so yummy. My daughter and her boyfriend decided to share their Queen Beak and Bird Bird Bacon so he could experience both. This was our first time trying the biscuit and gravy, and I'm really tempted to have that be my go to order next time. Even though the gravy started to cool quickly, it was so full of flavor. No lumps in this gravy and a well balanced pepper flavor. There's a reason that Bird Bird Biscuit stays on my list of places to visit and to take out of town guests too. Made a Yelp account just to offer feedback on this horrible place. We gave it two chances, would never recommend. First time took well over an hour, the ordering system is a mess and since it's all digital there's no way to speak to anyone to walk through it. We didn't put our phone number because we thought it was for marketing purposes (there is no indication from the kiosk otherwise) and they "lost" the order. Very snarky tone from the owner who asked why we didn't input our number. My question is, why isn't it mandatory if you need it to retrieve the order? We surely are not the first folks to find their ordering process confusing. After fighting for them to recognize that we paid (and that my name should be sufficient to tie the sitting order to me), we finally were allowed to leave with our $14 a piece biscuit sandwiches. Felt like the DMV, but worse since it's all outdoor. To top it off, the sandwiches were inedibly spicy and dry, and this is coming from someone who likes spice. Gave it a second shot. Again no employees outside, but we input everything as they wished and we waited over thirty minutes and eventually I flagged someone down only for them to tell me our order never went through! The biscuit was a bit dry, but adding gravy improved it. The Dough-Doughs, a cinnamon sugar biscuit dessert, was okay. Bird Bird Biscuit is a fantastic example of southern food modernized and meshed into Austin culture. Their specialty chicken sandwiches and biscuits deserve all the love they receive. The Queen Beak and Firebird are the stars. While advertised as spicy, I assure you they aren't unless you're very sensitive. The sandwiches are probably going to be smaller than you'd like, but they are very tall. They're actually tall enough to be a problem for smaller mouths! Both the chicken and biscuits are independently some of the best in town, but together they certainly make the best chicken sandwich. The zesty crisp fries are a delicious compliment to any meal. Parking here is pretty awful. You'll need a small car and some luck because there's only room for maybe a dozen cars. There are only outdoor tables available so be ready to share with someone and be weather conscious. That said, the patio is covered so you won't get direct sun or rain. You pick up your meal from the window but order at the kiosk in the patio. Staff will text you when your order is ready, and is happy to let you in for a restroom break.
