To consider, all a biscuit really is just made of are flour, sugar, fat and water mixed together and cooked up in the oven. This was my first time eating here in a while. I've enjoyed Bird Bird Biscuit at both locations for several years. They do NOT fail with their biscuit sandwiches. Today's visit was with my daughter and her boyfriend. He was visiting from Chicago and his first time at Bird Bird Biscuit. Despite some rain earlier this morning, it was dry but cloudy when we went. We grabbed one end of a picnic table as soon as it opened up after we ordered. The artificial turf was wet, but with awning, the tables were dry and outdoor seating was surprisingly comfortable despite a little before noon on a Saturday the wait time wasn't bad at all. While I love the queen beak, I opted for the Bird Bird Bacon sandwich today because I knew I couldn't eat the whole thing and the leftovers are always great later in the day. I love when the egg yolk and the chipotle mayonnaise mix on the sandwich elevates the flavor and it's just so yummy. My daughter and her boyfriend decided to share their Queen Beak and Bird Bird Bacon so he could experience both. This was our first time trying the biscuit and gravy, and I'm really tempted to have that be my go to order next time. Even though the gravy started to cool quickly, it was so full of flavor. No lumps in this gravy and a well balanced pepper flavor. There's a reason that Bird Bird Biscuit stays on my list of places to visit and to take out of town guests too. Once you've placed your order, find a table, but be aware there aren't many, and you might end up sharing. I tried the Firebird; it had a nice spicy kick and a crispy texture. The biscuit was a bit dry, but adding gravy improved it. The Dough-Doughs, a cinnamon sugar biscuit dessert, was okay. The Queen Beak and Firebird are the stars. While advertised as spicy, I assure you they aren't unless you're very sensitive. The sandwiches are probably going to be smaller than you'd like, but they are very tall. They're actually tall enough to be a problem for smaller mouths! Both the chicken and biscuits are independently some of the best in town, but together they certainly make the best chicken sandwich. The zesty crisp fries are a delicious compliment to any meal. Parking here is pretty awful. You'll need a small car and some luck because there's only room for maybe a dozen cars. There are only outdoor tables available so be ready to share with someone and be weather conscious. That said, the patio is covered so you won't get direct sun or rain. You pick up your meal from the window but order at the kiosk in the patio. Staff will text you when your order is ready, and is happy to let you in for a restroom break. I love the classic bird bird bacon. Crisp bacon, fried egg and American cheese. When I get their sandwiches I ask for the spread on the side. Sometimes it can be overwhelming. There is no better chicken biscuit in Austin. Period. I got the Queen Beak; the breading on the chicken is thick and consistent with a nice seasoning in the breading. The biscuit just like homemade. Bird Bird supplies a spicy cayenne honey dip as well as a Chipotle mayo. There are other greats here too: the fries are outstanding with the BBQ Dipping Sauce ($1.00 extra), and their beignets which are called Dough Doughs are really good. Service is efficient; you order on-line where you can schedule pick up or at the kiosk on site. I will say the Koenig location tends to have your order ready before your scheduled pick-up time, which can be annoying because I like my food hot and ready just when I'm ready to pick it up. So plan accordingly. Ambience is backyard friendly, with picnic tables under a canopy at the Koenig location and limited seating outside at the Manor Road location. There is no indoor dining at either location. The Koenig location closes at 2:00PM weekdays and 3:00PM weekends, however the Manor Road location open until 9:00PM. If you're craving a high-quality made from scratch never frozen chicken biscuit with great fixings you need to look up Bird Bird Biscuit.
