    Chicken Bacon Ranch
    Delanie K.

PERFECT chicken bacon ranch sub. Toasted bun, crispy bacon, fresh lettuce and tomato. It was a great meal after swimming in the sun. The fries could be better though, they were a little too well-done for me. My friend previously tried their Banh-Mi and said it was also delicious. Good prices. It's a food truck with plenty of parking, online ordering only, no bathrooms around.

There are a lot of "Deep Eddy" places in Austin: Deep Eddy Pool, Deep Eddy Cabaret, Deep Eddy Vodka. Don't get confused. This is Deep END Subs, a little food trailer parked by the Austin Community College campus off Airport. The setup's actually really nice. Free parking but you might catch a wave of student traffic depending on the time of day. They weren't taking in-person orders when we went, only through a web-based menu you access by scanning a QR code. I'm guessing that's to keep the workflow smooth when they're slammed, but it does make the experience feel a bit less personal. Still, once the food came out, all was forgiven. We tried the Chicken Bacon Ranch and the Cold Cut. The Chicken Bacon Ranch was the clear winner. Very filling, great balance of flavors, and served on a challah roll that seemed noticeably bigger than the brioche of the cold cut. But the Cold Cut was solid too. I wanted to try the Po'boy, but they were out that day, so I'll be back for that one. The fries were thick-cut, somewhere between a standard fry and a steak fry, nicely salted. Drinks were limited. No Coke, which my dining companion noticed immediately, but they had Dr Pepper and a few others, enough to get by. The seating area is a scattered group of covered picnic tables shared with a couple of other places, including a donut and coffee trailer. Nothing fancy, but fully shaded while you eat. One small detail that made me laugh: every single menu item online ends with an exclamation point. They're very excited about their subs! And honestly, they have reason to be. The food was great, and I'll happily come back to explore the rest of the menu. Just remember to bring your phone for the QR code ordering.

5 star chicken bacon ranch sub and great service. No tips which is super refreshing. Glad I tried these guys out. Will be back!

I had just finished a yoga class in the area and remembered I had been wanting to try this sandwich food truck out. They were out of the Italian so I opted for two of their Specials. Chicken Parm - I'm not sure what I expected, but this was a pretty simple sandwich, fried chicken cutlet with cheese and a tomato bisque sauce. Really tasty, thinner than I expected but I thought the ratio was just right. The chicken was very crispy on the outside even with the cheese and sauce on it. Banh Mi (with Green Chile Pork) - Not your traditional Banh Mi, but it actually really captured the flavor of a Banh Mi combined with a Pulled Pork sandiwch flavor. Overall, I these sandwiches were very honest. They're not trying to wow you with special ingredients, they just provide the ingredients that are supposed to be on a sandwich and they do it well. I look forward to trying out some of their other sandwiches!

Didn't realize I would get tiny reheated frozen meatballs. For $7 I'd rather get 2-3 decent sized homemade ones. The side of hummus was literally a small ramekin that salad dressing usually comes in and was $1.50. The flavor was decent but a little chunky compared to what I'm used to elsewhere. The cheesy garlic bread was pretty good. I feel like it could improve with packaging that doesn't steam it during transport though (wrapped in sandwich paper and then foil). Perhaps a box or styrofoam container that can vent would help it be less chewy and retain some crispness? The marinara has good flavor but was super watery, not sure if that's the usual since this is my first time having Cheba Hut. I'll likely try this place again but a sandwich next time, since other people's pics looks yummy.

Last week I was on a break from keto, and my husband read my mind. He took me here as the first stop on a rainy Friday night date. I know they have good sandwiches, but they also have their "bait shop" schtick. They're not near any significant fishing spots, and I didn't see any evidence of bait, but whatever. Their sandwiches are good, so they can get away with it. While I ate my sandwich on the patio, we discussed the novelty nature of many Austin businesses, and which ones can hold up and which ones are pure hype. I ordered the Club sandwich. It's not a true triple-decker club, but it was the sandwich that had the best variety of fillings in my opinion. Everything you'd expect in a classic club, but easier to eat because it wasn't stacked absurdly tall like other clubs. The sourdough bread was very crispy, and the meats, cheese, and vegetables worked well inside. On the side I got potato salad which I like more than their other option, which was chips, but the potato salad wasn't anything special. Their patio was the perfect spot to enjoy a rainstorm. They have some glider chairs off to the side that are good for lounging on, but when it really started to rain we moved in to the center of the patio. I'm glad I got a chance to try Handsome Dan's. I doubt I'll be back anytime soon because huge sandwiches like this need to be an occasional treat for me, but if you're in the Springdale area looking for a satisfying meal, this is it!

As a mom of two littles, I really appreciate family friendly restaurants with built in entertainment for the kiddos! Indoors is a different vibe - dark and moody with funky art and decor. We had to wait 30 mins for a table on a Thursday night, but put our names down and grabbed drinks from the bar which offers an extensive wine, beer and cocktail list. Once we got our table we were ravenous. We tried the Sicilian pepperoni pizza, a pan style. Pizza came out piping hot and fresh - flavors were on point! Absolutely delicious. Worth the long wait. Service was slow and spotty - we never got our water refilled, she never came around to check on us or ask if we wanted another round of drinks. After bringing out our pizza we never saw her again. There is also no signal in this restaurant, so make sure you sign into their wifi upon arrival if you need access to texts/calls. A solid experience overall, but service could certainly be better.

Back then, Austin needed a bakery so badly that easy tiger was a standout savior. Fresh bread (still great today!) and pastries were so welcome. At some point after Covid, quality started slipping. Pastries weren't changing. The croissants were soft with no crunch. The chicken schnitzel which is used to be thin had turn into a thick blob basically a giant chicken nugget. The pretzels I always loved tasted stale like they baked them and left them sitting under heat lamps for hours. Sandwiches tasted noticeably worse. Still, we continued to come here. And then they were sold in the last year. New owners and what's the first thing they do? Fix issues? No that would be hard. They raised prices. A LOT. Coffees cost more than anywhere else in the area. Lunch for 2 adults and 2 kids meal hits $90 with zero leftovers. Every time I come here I feel so squeezed and it's never worth it. So this is it. After 7 years I'm through. The place has so much potential but whatever is happening here I cannot support. There are far better bakeries (looking at you sugarwolf) and far better coffee places (literally dozens). Here is to hoping for a turnaround.
