If you haven't been to the Toast Office in Westwood, MA, it never disappoints. The blueberry, pecan, mascarpone pancakes are the best flapjacks I've ever had: it so good that minimal syrup is needed. I can eat 2/3rds in one sitting and not feel heavy/gross. I'm a food snob, and this is not a hyperbole! Their corned beef hash is homemade, the perfect amount of salt, and cooked to be fluffy not greasy. The Irish breakfast is very hearty. I thought the beans were a little too tomato-saucy, and bangers (sausages) a wee bit on the salty side. The rashers (Irish bacon) and home fries were the star of this plate. read more

My friend and I have met here several times over the years as it is a halfway point for us to catch up. I'm giving the second star because our past experiences have been positive. The most recent (and most likely "last") experience was a nightmare. The toast was not toasted, but regular bread. We sent it back only to receive the regular bread slightly heated but definitely not toasted (interesting as it's called the "Toast" office.) The eggs were rubbery and dry. I did not even eat mine because my friend's experience with sending hers back resulted in one of several eye rolls from our wait staffer. We were not offered coffee or tea when seated. We had to ask for it. That was our first "eye roll." We were never offered to have our beverages refreshed or refilled. We had no utensils or napkins. Our request for such was met with another eye roll and a sigh. The utensils were slammed down on the table as she passed our table on her way to another. I already mentioned the disappointing food. The restaurant was moderately busy but even if it was bustling, we should have had better service and food. Everything was just awful. I worked for years as a waitress, for both dinner and breakfast and NEVER mistreated guests like this. I also wrote restaurant reviews for a major international publication everyone has heard of, so I know what to expect from a dining experience. This was absolutely miserable. If our waitperson was having a rough morning, perhaps she should have called out. I thought this was a one-off, but I looked at past yelp reviews and eye rolling seems to be part of the waitstaff charm. We may never go back. Cozy decor with a postal vibe, riffing on the location being the old past office. Great selection of food, friendly service at a nice price. Only eyesore is the TV in the corner, tho' it is fairly out of the way unlike a lot of restaurants. Get's busy on the weeks, might be a wait then. It also is pretty kid friendly, so expect to see tykes eating with their parents. I recommend the "Messy Green" out of the breakfast section. read more

This was a family reunion and it was so much fun m, the staff was great and accomplished everything we needed in a short time. We ordered a variety of meals and everything was absolutely delicious, from the eggs, pancakes, French toast to the healthy breakfast bowls. The location is a bit tight in size but the menu and service makes up for it in so many ways. I was impressed how clean it was and for a busy place you could still talk and have a conversation. I would suggest you call ahead or go online thru Yelp to put your name in. Will definitely be adding The Toast Office to my brunch rotation! Huge menu with some great options. The Caesar wrap was soo yummy. It came with these really good pickles on the side which was a nice touch. Sweet potato waffle fries were also great. My friend really liked her sandwich. Portions are huge, we both brought home leftovers. Our server was extremely friendly. All the servers were very attentive and accommodating. Lots of seating. Food came out quick. Throughly enjoyed. Continuing to get in my east coast breakfast fix and the Toast Office doesn't disappoint. First off, amazing name. The food was awesome and the service was amazing. My boyfriend and I had a big meal since we were flying out that day. I had the First Class, which you can see from the picture that we didn't wait to dig in. A+ name! Especially being in the same plaza with the post office. Put in our reservation on the tablet waited maybe 12 minutes to sit at the bar which has full view of the kitchen and it was fun to watch the staff top the hot chocolates with whip cream... And very hard not to buy hot chocolate... The service was reasonably paced given how busy it was and the servers were friendly. We both got the specials today. Mine was an omelet with bacon brie and avocado which was a DELICIOUS combo. I was really pleased with that. I tried the maple sausage and pumpkin pancake too and those were also nice. Home fries were underwhelming... But I guess that's why salt and ketchup are on the table. My husband thought it was expensive. I thought it was priced right for the ingredient quality. I love this place: it is a little quirky, owing to the previous use of the space as a post office; the food is excellent; the portions are very generous; the service is fast and attentive; free parking is available. What more could you ask for? :) I usually get either the brioche French toast, the Nutella stuffed French toast, or the Guinness-braised short ribs hash. Today they were out of short ribs, so I tried the corned beef hash for the first time. Boy, am I glad I did--it was the best corned beef hash I've ever had! The meal included hash browns (with some small, crispy bits like I prefer) and fantastic brioche toast. I really prefer it when the bread is actually toasted, not just heated and then soggy with butter. This was perfect. If you want jelly, ask for it. Wisely, I think, they don't automatically give it to you so it doesn't get uselessly wasted. I also liked that the salt and pepper shakers actually work as they should. It's so frustrating, trying to season your food, and just having to uselessly shake the silly things. (Sometimes I open them and dispense salt and pepper from my hand because the cellar holes are so small.) You may be thinking, "she had to season the food, so how good was it, really?" Simple, I don't like to eat plain eggs. Parking on the weekend can be a challenge, but just be patient and a space will open up. Like most (all?) great breakfast places, there's a line on the weekends. It usually moves quickly and there are a few interesting shops in the same strip mall to browse if you need to kill some time (a cute wine & food store where I bought some yummy fig jam, an interior design/gift store with fun little items, and a Walgreens.) They will text you when a table opens up. I want to try lunch and dinner there sometime. The short rib/chuck burger sounds tempting for lunch and the crabcake interests me for dinner. (I'm from Maryland, so I'm extremely particular about crabcakes!) This restaurant was the last place I went to before the pandemic shutdown. It even had business that last, quiet day. After the shutdown they opened a patio space outside that was actually quite pleasant even though it was in a parking lot. Now things are back to normal, of course, so I didn't notice any sign of that anymore. Definitely check this place out if you haven't already. I was so anxious to eat my meal that I forgot to take a picture! :/ The only suggestion I have is a better quality jam or jelly would be nice. The bread is so yummy, it deserves a correspondingly good topping, not icky little plastic container congealed colored sugar product. read more

Beautiful little diner-style restaurant in the heart of Westwood, Mass. The staff is wonderfully friendly and Rebecca made us feel right at home. The food was awesome; I had the Western omelette and the Angry Mimosa... and the Angry Mimosa knocked it out of the park. Inside is quaint, very clean and organized. There's also a beautiful outdoor patio seating area, but the rain kept us inside today. We'll definitely be back, and hopefully we'll be able to sit outside. Great place. read more

The corned beef hash was great BUT on a weekend they're so busy and chaotic that that my food always arrives cold.

I can't believe it took so long to try this place, living right down the street. I found out they are open for dinner although they seem to be known for their breakfasts. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries and it was amazing! The meat was cooked perfectly and the bun was even delicious, buttered I think. The fries were perfect and I tried their onion rings which were incredible. The staff was friendly and super quick. I'm definitely adding this local treasure to my regular stops. the food was good, our server was pleasant, however we were sitting OUTSIDE in a dining area that is part of the parking lot, with our two service dogs, and 3 different restaurant employees came by to tell us that our service dogs were not allowed, and the waitress initially refused to bring water for them on a hot summer day. We were OUTSIDE. Our service dogs are necessary for the safety of my son who has autism. However the manager demanded that we show them PAPERWORK in order to keep the dogs with us. We and our dogs were orderly, polite, and gracious the whole time, just trying to enjoy a nice lunch on vacation. But we felt continually harassed and made unwelcome by the restaurant employees. It is hard enough raising a child with autism in this world, and constant microaggressions like this cause us undue stress when going out in public. My son already has agoraphobia and I deal with depression and anxiety just trying to survive in this world as an autism mom. Microaggressions like this are completely unacceptable, and the requests made by staff at The Toast Office were illegal and violated our civil rights. read more

What a great local place for breakfast! When I lived in Denver I became a real lover of meeting friends for breakfast but in the greater Boston area it's not really a thing. Enter The Toast Office in Westwood. There are about 20-25 tables/booths, friendly staff, open kitchen, sprawling menu (but not overwhelming) and just plain good food! I have been a few times and am never disappointed. My breakfast companion always has a special order and they always make it perfect. I recommend the messy greens scramble which has arugula, zucchini, asparagus and goat cheese. Get the peasant toast and also enjoy the crispy potatoes that come with it. read more
