Birds Plus is the best store in LA and probably on this planet! I have a best buddy ( very healthy bought as a baby) who absolutely adores me, and I feel the same way about him. We've had many adventures and peaceful nights together. The birds are very well taken care of, and the owner of the store loves them and is very helpful with any questions you may have. Jasper has a really good life : ) he loves it too.

Always have the best time at Birds Plus! We just bought a new cage for our African Grey and got the best service! Love these new branches too. The cage was $200 cheaper than what other bird stores were asking for smaller and lower quality cages. You can't beat Birds Plus prices and service.

Love this place. It's noisy as heck with all of the adorable birds, but the owner is great with his recommendations and advice, and I never feel like he is just trying to sell the most expensive option. Lots of bird food, toys, and supplies here - much better selection compared to big pet chains.

First, let me share that I have had "domesticated" birds since I was a little girl. I have learned…read morea great deal since those days and some of the industry that sells and provides goods and services for captive birds has evolved, however slowly. This is a huge subject and I have strong opinions about the responsibilities we have when we bring an animal, any animal, into our human environment. We need to be thoroughly educated on their care and habits before we do that, in my opinion. If we can't provide as close to a natural but safe and healthy home for our companion animals, we should not take one on. This goes especially for birds who, unlike dogs and cats, are just a few generations from the wild. Few people really understand what is required to properly care for and have a happy bird in our homes. One important aspect of providing health and happiness is to provide birds, especially parrots, with a variety of safe and entertaining, if not educational when possible, activities. We can think of them as toys, but in the wild parrots spend very little time in frivolous activity. Since we feed them (another subject that requires education) in our houses, they have more time to do something other than look for food. They can easily become bored. Not all toys sold for birds, parrots, etc. are safe. And, a good variety is hard to come by. If there is wood on a toy, it has to be a soft, non-toxic wood that won't hurt them; if wooden toys are dyed, the dyes should be natural; if there is metal on the toy, only pure stainless steel is safe -- all other metal will slowly poison the bird. We go out of our way to purchase toys, regularly so the birds don't become bored, at places like The Perfect Parrot. I am sure others have mentioned in their reviews that this store is clean, incredibly well stocked, and overseen by knowledgeable people who are informed and care about birds and the products they sell to us. Cheap toys endanger your bird. Buy fewer, but better quality, safe, entertaining toys appropriate to the bird's size and species. Birds become beloved family members. They are smarter than most other species including dogs and cats. We need to care for and respect them or we shouldn't have them, as that is cruel. The Perfect Parrot has everything we need to understand our new family member and provide them with a wonderful life as our companions.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by both the owner, Augustine, and his daughter. The shop is family operated, local, spotlessly clean, smells great, and is filled with beautiful, healthy birds. While the birds are fantastic, Augustine is the real star of the show. We ended up having a long, wonderful conversation with him. You can instantly tell when someone is genuinely passionate about what they do, and Augustine goes above and beyond. He is incredibly knowledgeable and takes immaculate care of every single bird, from grooming to boarding. Coming here feels like visiting an amusement park because it is that exciting and welcoming. Until recently, I trusted that I was feeding my dog a safe, high-quality product. I spend hundreds of dollars a month at this place a month. Unfortunately, my most recent experience has left me deeply concerned. My dog has allergies and can only eat bison and venison. After Petstron was out of bison for approximately two weeks, I purchased 20 containers when it finally became available again. Given the cost of the food and the trust pet owners place in companies like this, I never expected what I found. While preparing the food, I began finding sharp bone fragments throughout the meat. Because my dog is small, I always break apart the food before serving it. As I did, I found one bone, then another, and another. This was not just in one container. I found multiple jagged bone pieces in container after container. Concerned for my dog's safety, I spent so much time inspecting and removing what I could find. Despite my efforts, after eating, my dog began choking. It was one of the most frightening experiences I've had as a pet owner. Thankfully she recovered, but it was clear I may have missed one or two small pieces of bones and it had made its way into her food. What concerns me most is that many pet owners may simply warm the food and serve it without inspecting every bite. Had I done that, the outcome could have been much worse. Our pets are family. We trust companies that prepare fresh food to take the necessary precautions to ensure it is safe. Finding repeated sharp bone fragments in cooked food is not something any pet owner should have to worry about. I am sharing my experience because I believe other pet owners should be aware and inspect their food carefully. I would also be interested to know if anyone else has experienced something similar. I WILL NEVER TAKE A CHANCE WITH THIS PET STORE AGAIN!!!!
