We asked the owner what bird he thought would be the best companion for us since we had been so close to our original bird. He introduced us to a white-winged parakeet, let us hold her, and explained that she was hand-raised. We even paid extra to find out her gender. He was very knowledgeable and really kind! Penny has now been with us for full year now, and she completely runs our house , in the best way possible! She is truly the best bird ever. On top of that, the business stated they open at 12, but when we arrived it was closed. After calling, we were told she was "on the way." If your posted hours say 12, customers should be able to expect you to actually be open at 12. The customer service was also unpleasant. Fast forward to June and we dropped our green-cheeked conure off for a two-week summer camp: complete with all the play time, fun enrichment, flight opportunities, and love a bird could ask for! We can't recommend Christine's service enough and her care is thoroughly bird-approved, too! The specifics (quite lengthy but for those who are curious!): Communication: From the start, Christine was extremely responsive and welcoming she shared all the information we needed to know ahead of time, including required health documentaion/vaccinations, what to bring, and what services she provided. On drop-off day, Christine spent an entire hour with us going through our conure's likes and dislikes, showing us the house, and introducing us to the other birds (including three of her own!). And when we were traveling, Christine was the BEST when it came to sending fun photo and video updates every single day. She really goes above and beyond to help you stay connected from afar! Boarding Experience: Speaking of updates, every day we received awesome pics of our conure enjoying popcorn snacks, receiving training based on her favorite tricks, and interacting with the other birds (since we were comfortable with her mingling). It felt more like birdy summer camp than a boarding service! She even received supervised outdoor sunlight time and daily out-of-cage & private flight room time to stretch and play. I don't know any parrot hotel that shows this level of consistent care to its guests--Christine really treated our bird like one of her own! Logistics: Expectations were clear from the start and made the lead-up to boarding super simple. We provided relatively recent disease testing negative results in advance, then scheduled our dates and paid a deposit. Christine's fees, by the way, are super reasonable and she limits her guest numbers so she can provide the absolute best care to each bird. We paid the full amount when we dropped off our conure and swapped WhatsApp numbers so we could keep in touch during our travel. I'm pretty picky when it comes to our feathered friend (which is why I've always avoided most other boarding services), but Christine made the whole process easy and stress-free! Final Takeaways: If you're in LA and need someone to care for your special birds during travel, we 100% recommend Ringo's Parrot Hotel. We're so impressed by Christine's clear love for this work and all the birds that come her way--we might have to continue some birdy playdates just given how much fun our conure (and we) had throughout the entire experience!

I was waiting in anticipation for JamJam to open since they announced that they were going to have…read morea brick & mortar shop in San Gabriel! I have purchased beetle larva from them at the Reptile Super Show in Pomona. It is definitely a much more unique reptile/exotics shop than the other ones that are in somewhat close vicinity in SoCal. As far as I know, this is the only physical location that specializes in a diverse range of hormone free pacman and chaco horned frogs. There's a wide variety of morphs, colors, and sizes. They are also the ONLY physical shop I know that has such a wide variety of invertebrates. I know some shops have tarantulas and maybe some death feigning beetles, but that's it. Jamjam has those and so much more! There's various beetles as well as their larval counterparts in various stages of development, along with any supplies that you may need to allow them to thrive imported Japanese beetle jellies, their own mix of flake soil, leaf litter, bark, etc. They also have different praying mantises as well (first time I have seen them sold outside of a reptile show), scorpions, and some really neat air breathing land snails that I have never seen before. I love the swirl patterns they have and I'm for sure going to come back for them. They also have have a wide range of affordable isopods too. Much cheaper than what it would be if I were to order an entire starter kit and the actual isopods online. I love the acrylic set up with the substrate, leaf litter, bark, and charcoal pieces in them with my new little orange guys. Additionally, they have feeders available: mice, mealworms, waxworms, tilapia filet, crickets, hornworms, and a lot of different feeder roaches available (discoid, lobster, red runner etc). Aside from the East Bay Vivarium up in NorCal, I haven't seen this level of variety of feeders, which, as an exotics owner, is very exciting! As they're still setting up, the reptiles they seemed to have when I visited were hognose snakes and some, what I think were ball pythons, but I believe that they'll be having some geckos and other reptiles as things move along. And if you also have a furry friend at home, they have bandanas, collars, leashes, and dog accessories as well. Another thing I loved was how informative, friendly, and helpful the owner is. He answered all my questions, gave tips and tricks, and gave really good husbandry advice. As this is somewhat of a niche hobby, I love to see that. They're in the process of getting everything situated, so I'm really excited to see what will be in store (and hopefully what will be in my room) in the future!
