First time at this PetSmart and really liked the selection of items that they had. Aisles were easy to navigate and they had a lot of items from toys, cat and dog food, sanitary stuff, fish tanks, small aquariums, they also do donations to near vets, and other types of facilities/companies. This store is fairly a smaller store than the one that's closer to my house in NOHO. I wanted to surprise my friend who had just recently adopted a cat and went in yesterday an hour before closing time and the employees were more than happy to give me a hand. They showed me the aisles; and it was very easy to find what I was looking for. Have a lot of discounted items and prices are affordable. I bought her cat 12 can food, along with couple of toys. I can't wait to see her and surprise her with my gifts. Store was very clean, great ambiance, cheerful smiles, had a fairly large parking lot and that's all I can say about this particular PetSmart! Thank you all for being in business for so many decades, doing great deed/job and still delivering. Stopped in here the other day to grab some new kibble for my puppy and had some good service. The girl in the front was very friendly, she greeted us as soon as we walked in. This location was pretty stocked up and luckily they have the last bag of the kibble I needed. This location is on the smaller side, but it has the basics of what you need. I took my dog to PetSmart for grooming and had a really disappointing experience. The groomer, Phoenix, was negative from the start and complained about his size (he's slightly larger for his breed ). During the assessment, this person pointed out a few mats and refused to groom him, claiming it could cause a hematoma and that I needed to take him to a vet first. I ended up going to another groomer who had no problem handling the mats and was able to complete the grooming without any issues or hematomas. Overall, it felt like there was an unwillingness to do the job from the beginning. read more

The parking lot is pretty large and easy to find parking. Staff is friendly and helpful. I went to buy a dog food refill for my foster dog and they had a wide selection of choices including the exact one I was looking for. I saw another review noting no prescription food, my foster eats a certain kind of kibble but not prescription so I had no problem, but it is a small store so I would agree they probably don't carry as wide an array of selection as a normal sized PetSmart would carry. I also stopped by the fish area as I'm looking to get a new fish for my smaller tank, however the selection is meager, there are 4 tanks. Someone was buying some fish and just two people in that aisle is crowded so i didn't get photos. If you want regular gold fish, or molly fish, or glo fish, they have allot of those! read more

Staff is friendly and approachable, I also shop here for my pet's food. The prices are reasonable, and they are stocked up very well. Store is clean, the aisles are big enough to walk down them. Today they had the Santa and pet photo event, I brought my dog for her annual photo and she did well. Thank you to the staff that also helped to get her attention while we took her photos. Every time I come here, they never have anything I need. They don't carry any prescription food at this location. They don't carry any Stella and chewy at this location so at this location, you will get a bunch of junk and stuff that your dog will probably get really sick from. To be in Studio City or Sherman Oaks and not have everything that you should and you have it at other locations that are like in the ghetto really pull it together and get what needs to be had for pets in this area like prescription food!!! read more

Extremely Disappointed with Grooming Service by Angelica I am very unsatisfied with the grooming my dog received from Angelica at PetSmart. We clearly discussed giving my mini doodle a #4 or #5 cut -- something clean but with a little fluff left. Instead, when I returned to pick her up, she was shaved completely bald, more like a military buzz cut. It was not only the opposite of what we agreed on, but an extremely lazy and careless decision. To make matters worse, I paid extra for a nail trim and teeth brushing -- neither of which were done properly. Her nails are still razor sharp, and I have no reason to believe her teeth were touched at all. The total for this visit was $104, and frankly, it feels like I paid that amount for someone to butcher my dog's look without permission. She now resembles a skinny little rat, and I'm heartbroken that this happened. This kind of result is unacceptable and shows a lack of care and professionalism. I won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend Angelica to anyone looking for quality grooming. read more

Me and my daughter went in there yesterday. She was so excited to get a fish for her birthday. I asked the lady which tank is a good starter tank. She quickly answered my question (just pointed to a tank and briefly mentioned quality of life for the fish) and abruptly walked off. She assured me someone would be back. After 10-15 minutes I walked to the groomers area and asked her if someone would be able to help me further. She said yes and after standing in the aisle for an additional 20 minutes with a busy toddler, I just left. That was a poor experience and my daughter was disappointed. I need vet prescribed food for my fur baby that I get at Pet Smart where I used to live but I guess that if theres not a vet INSIDE the store they can't sell that kind of food. When I called this store nobody told me that. I wish they had so I didn't drive there since I dont live close. This review is specifically for Hazel from the grooming department. She deserves this 5 star review. Hazel did such an amazing job with my dog Rexi. She was extremely kind and courteous to me and my dog. My dog can be a little rambunctious and energetic at times but Hazel was understanding and patient with her, which was very much appreciated. The grooming itself was amazing as well. Couldn't have asked for it being any more perfect! Hazel usually works at a different branch, she was just helping out at the Sherman oaks location today I was told. Hopefully she comes back because I'll definitely special request for her amazing service! My dog Rexi and I appreciate you very much! With that being said, the manager was a whole different story. She's the reason I imagine this branch's Yelp reviews are bad unfortunately. I'm not sure what this managers name was but she was an older lady who's been there for a while. I usually see her in this store. I won't get into details into why this manager was so inappropriate and unprofessional because I don't want to distract from Hazels great job. Anyways, I love this location in Sherman oaks. I live down the street. Usually it's always a pleasent experience especially with the grooming department. I highly recommend this branch. If only the manager took a chill pill or left to a different department this branch would be a 10 out of 10. Unfortunately she's hindering the customer experience there. read more

I'd like to commend Cindy for her excellent customer service at the Sherman Oaks PetSmart. I don't generally shop here because it's out of my usual traffic patterns. But I was nearby and badly needed kibble for my pug. I called to see whether PetSmart carried Wellness (my pug's brand). Cindy made sure to check the shelves to ensure that they had what I was looking for. When I asked for a price and disappointed that PetSmart charges several dollars more than Rusty's Discount Pet Shop does, Cindy told me that they'd match Rusty's price. She didn't ask me to supply proof; she took me at my word. I'm so impressed by such excellent service that I'll remember to shop at this PetSmart more regularly. After reading some other reviews about this location....it all makes sense. Today marks the third time I have tried to take my six month old puppy to this particular location to have a bath. 1. The first time I tried, I booked with "Aliaceli". OMG! She was so RUDE!! I arrived and didn't know that they wouldn't wash the dog with a open scratch on her ear. Okay, fine. However, the person was o incredibly rude and wasn't helpful...she just kept saying "that's our policy"....which I understand but offer to rebook me or just be more personable. 2. Went back and again, "Brian" who was super nice said she isn't ready for the bath per store policy based on condition of her ear. 3. Went back today with ear completely healed for the exception of a small scab. Brian was ready to wash my dog but the Manager there was just so off putting. She spoke over me to Brian even though I was standing right there and didn't acknowledge me at all. Brian then said, I think it looks okay wanna come take a look? She did not come take a look...just kept repeating a policy and being standoffish....it was super frustrating. I hated the way I was treated. When I said I've tried to have my dog washed here three times...she told Brian to give me some dog treats I swear it's like most people there hate their jobs! Brian was so helpful and felt really bad about how I've driven over there three times...the manager could've cared less (older lady salt n pepper hair). I then asked if they could suggest some dry dog shampoo....CLUELESS and so I left. Just stay clear of this PetsSmart ...go to Petco on Ventura. This place is horrible. read more

I was running around doing errands before a trip and thought about my furr baby and wanted to get her some Feliway plug-ins. I thought of this place since I was close by - but I was down to the wire at closing time ... on a Sunday night. As I pulled up to the store, I could see employees at the door ... but went for it any way. As I entered the store - I could not have been more warmly greeted, but was reminded that they were closing in a few minutes. I asked where my item was to save time searching and was warmly given directions. I wasn't the only last minute shopper - but I watched as the staff courteously handled each of us. This location is a little smaller but they have the perfect jars of super worms for Bob. Other pet stores I always find dead worms and the containers are too big. I know this is super specific but it's hard to feed a bearded dragon especially one who gets so excited for worms. read more

The sales staff here is very nice every time I shop, they are all friendly and super informative. The only issue I have is that the hours on the store say that the groomers are open until 6, the website and the app both say you can do a walk in until 6 PM. I've gone to this store multiple times and no one is ever in the grooming area. The staff says oh well they didn't have anymore dogs so they left. Then they need to change the grooming hours or change the website to say that don't take walk-ins. It's very frustrating to keep going to this store that I frequent a lot and can't get my dog's nails trimmed. read more

If it were possible not to give stars then this would be the time to do so.... I made an appointment for Brownie to be groomed. However Giselle the groomer refused to take Brownie stating the certificate we presented was not acceptable. The date the vaccines were administered was printed clearly and legibly and the Vet's signature was on the certificate. Giselle stated the certificate was insufficient. I asked her to show me the store policy she stated "I don't have time to find it for you" however what I find interesting is that the county of Los Angeles found the certificate to be acceptable enough to renew Brownie's pet license.. The sad part is that the only one suffering is brownie because we don't know how long it will be before someone who can take her in for grooming. read more

Zovi was my dog's groomer here today. We got lucky! If you're looking for a groomer, I highly advise you call here and request Zovi. Perhaps the greatest cut my terrier received, and the happiest I've seen her after a grooming session. I'd like to think Zovi being as kind spirited as she is helped, but it's likely a combination of that and how thorough and talented she is at her job. read more

In my new apartment from a large home with a very stressed out lil poodle. I received a text from the manager 2 days into the move that my lil guy barked non stop while I was away. I was stressed to find a solution just short of a shocked collar. Upon entering the store, Cynthia approached me offering help and most likely seen and heard the stress in my store. Cynthia took me to the area that I can only pray keeps me and Baxter from being evicted. I purchased HEMP snacks and a Thunders Shirt.. Here is hoping. Came here during the corona virus scare and there was and senior gentleman stocking up on cat food. He had a whole cart full of canned cat food and litter. As we may know, the elderly need to be more careful with the illness spreading. He goes to check out and the manager lady type is giving him a hard time and belittling him. She gives him all sorts of grief that he's first of all in the wrong line, needs to help the workers when checking out all of the cans of cat food, and poking fun at him saying that it will only last him a week. I can't believe the audacity of this woman. These are the kinds of people who need to stock up and quarantine unlike the rest of us younger folk that are in good health. Visited several groomers and ultimately we were happiest with Melissa from the Sherman Oaks Petsmart. I appreciate that she always puts bows in my fur baby's hair without an upcharge. And she always reads the notes about my dogs eye issues and plucks her ear hairs. I've had other associates who just ignore them or actually tell me that they won't touch her ears unless I have a letter from the vet. It's not an abnormal request?! Other places charge extra so we won't even go there... Also-- This is super common of Petsmart and I know it's a requirement (bc time is $$) so I am not sure if I going to get her in trouble for saying this but I realllllyyyyy appreciate the fact that when I am checking in, I am NOT being pressured to add on more services. You have no idea how much it really grinds my gears when associates put pressure on you to add nail grinding or a more expensive shampoo OR WORST, do it anyways and charge you for it. Believe it or not, a few others did this to me while Melissa was on maternity leave and I bounced around to a few other stores until I heard she came back. I think I cried tears of joy when I saw her name pop up on the scheduling app. (also a plus) Overall-- the manager of the store is really sweet. You can tell she has her own furry babies by the way she gives advise on how to care for your dog. I called inquiring about testing the water from my aquarium to make sure my new fish I got are ok. Jack who works there told me on the phone to come on in and he will test it for me. . I brought a sample from my tank and he tested it and told me all the necessary things I needed to do. I had many questions regarding the maintenance of my aquarium and he patiently and cheerfully answered all of them. Very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. The store is a big size with great variety of things. So, normally get the discounted rate for ordering thru the app all i do is show them since I'm already at the store. Today, When i got to the cashier Jennifer said we cant do that even if I had told her that I've been always been allowed to so that since im here already. I'm very frustrated and won't be returning definitely not to this location but probably to Petsmart in general. I purchased an item at petsmart canoga park because I was in the area, but soon after realized a part was missing and decided to return it. Today, I walked into my local sherman oaks petsmart and wanted to return the item, with a receipt, and exchange for food and toys. They proceeded to tell me that they couldn't accept it because they don't carry that exact item in store. Weird, so I asked if they were a franchise which would make sense, but nope. They said I'd have to go back to the original location, which is 15 miles and about 30 minutes EACH WAY to make my return, and with gas prices we know that's not chump change. So I bought my items and left, but then checked the website where it CLEARLY says that with a receipt I can return my item and ANY petsmart location. I called the customer service to make sure this was correct and she confirmed that it was and this location was just making up their own rules. Went to rudest Petsmart (mini) in Sherman Oaks to grab some food. A couple is walking around holding a tiny kitten they rescued last night. Maybe 3 to 4 weeks old. Did not look healthy. They asked the female employee for Cat Beds. She said we don't have go to the bigger locations and walked away. She was.rude.she was just in the back talking to other employees . As I was staring at tiny dog beds at the time. They are pet beds. And the employee walked away. Needless to say they wanted help and no idea what to do. They owned an older cat. So well you know me. First they said they called a lot of vets and none will see tiny kittens. I have heard that and seen vets that no nada about tinies. Told them Dr oh and right away he looked it up. Sadly they were just closing but they are going Monday. They had older kitten food in their cart so I showed them mother and cat and told them about slurry. They grabbed it. Didn't care the price. The baby may still be bottle. It looked dehydrated. Store told them they didn't have any I found them bottles and formula. I could not watch this kitten get worse. This younger couple didn't care how much they spent. The kitten had a missing tail. I'm beyond annoyed at the lack of service they got. Almost feel it was discrimination. They were younger latinx. I saw others getting much better service. Hope I helped a bit. Pissed Petsmart didn't. Also an older man dropped a box of cat food behind me. I wish I could give ZERO stars. I for Jazelle's horrible attitude. She is rude and to hostile to work w/ pets. I have been taking my pet to this location since 2014 and never had an issue. She was snappy upin my arrival and stated that even tho I was on time for my appt. she has to warn me that she overbooked herself and that my Malipoo would be left in a cage for approx 2hr. as she rotates. Then she said if ny dog proceeds to bark then she would call me to co.e pick hom up immediately. I dont know where PetSmart got her from but they need to send her BACK.
