I usually try something different each time to keep things fun, but one thing that never changes is how amazing the food and service are. Yesterday's order reminded me that I've been taking them for granted all these years. This is a fantastic, family-run business that truly cares about its customers. The wife is always friendly and fast--she takes orders with accuracy and warmth. She also looks out for me since I have a few food allergies. We tried Frescos Tortilleria for dinner the other night and enjoyed it. I got a double decker quesadilla and thought it was really good. It had chicken, veggies, and beans. My husband got the steak and chicken combo and enjoyed his as well. We also got a chicken burrito to share for lunch the next day. This was good, but I thought it was a little dry. Lunch is not a leading indicator of buisness prowess, so this was of no issue to my decision to sit for a meal. I read the standard Lunch Special menu, standard in terms of number of options offered and price point. The two meats of chicken and steak combo was served together upon rice with ribbon cut lettuce, chopped tomatoes and two flour tortillas. The idea being to build your own or, as I did was fork your food directly out of the white, non biodegradable container. Prices were very good. Its a family run restaurant and it shows. They keep the place very clean and they're well organized. The bean tacos are really good, I'm not sure what they do differently but they have such a great flavor to them. The chicken and rice is pretty good too. Nothing wrong with the food except it lacks anything great. With the exception of the chicken, I like the way they make it in that it is has a fried or pan fried crust and it's flavorful with a lightly crisp. That was the only real thing I liked about Frescos. The Chicken and Steak burrito I ordered for six dollars and change was small and the filling was mainly accessories. It was bland and average. The shell on the burrito was not as soft nor smooth and not wrapped fully. My friend's Quesadilla was looking plump, tastier, better prepared and seemed bigger than my burrito, can't be right. My other friends Tostadas looked good but I once had the same at another Frisco and I liked the crisp light shell. However, her's looked better and good. All sorts of coke, A&W Root Beer, Snapple, Jarritos in the fridge. With abundant shiny wood tables being clean but not entirely. Family ran, so that's good. Every now and then, ok who am I kidding, lets make that often, I would have a longing for simple Tex-Mex food. I would dine here at Frescos Tortillas as it is conveniently located in a fairly busy area of Queens that is a hub to a lot of the other towns making up most of this borough. Thus, I have had many opportunity to dine here, and it seems most of their customers are from the nearby Queens Borough Court Houses. I have tried most of their dishes, and my favorite is the grilled chicken enchiladas piping hot covered in a blend of melted jack and cheddar cheeses, tomato chunks, and with a side of Mexican rice and re-fried beans. I also very much enjoy the tostada salad with steak where the tostada is this huge tortilla bowl full of steak, greens and tomatoes, bell peppers, guacamole, and a scoop of sour cream. The burrito is amazing large and very filling. All of them so good with a diet Coke. I prefer their soft shell tacos over the hard shell versions, and these can be purchased by the pound. As I was here this past Wednesday, I had the Nachos Supreme which was really good, the nachos covered in melted cheeses, topped with beef chili, jalapeno peppers, tomatoes, and black bean, finished with a dollop of sour cream and salsa. I am getting hungry as I am writing this. Fresco Tortilla is a fairly moderate sized dining place that is clean, with ample seating, and nothing too fancy to be overly critical. Love this place. The family who runs the restaurant are really nice- and hard working (from morning til night 6 days a week). I have been frequenting this spot for almost 7 years. I have never been disappointed with the service or the food. I'm amazed at how they remember all of their regulars orders! Ordering is often as simple as "yes, please". Some of these passive aggressive reviews have me laughing- seems like they say more about the reviewer and their lack of Assertiveness & communication skills. Every time I've made a request to modify or substitute something on the menu- the couple who runs the place has always accommodated my needs. The prices on the menu are less expensive than most restaurants in the area and I think that the serving size is still more than fair for this price. I've never felt ripped off or that the woman is a "stingy sour cream person" who "pushes red sauce on people" as one reviewer said. Hysterical They make a modified veggie burrito for me- no tortilla and no cheese. I either get a spinach burrito bowl or mixed veggie. I love the fresh tomatillo verde sauce. Sometimes I stop in simply because I'm craving that verde sauce! This is my go to place for when I want something on the go but I still want something healthy-ish. These days I'm a dairy free vegetarian and gluten free so my options are a bit more limited than most folks. They are also open late til 11- they are usually still open when I get home from work. Yes, it is Tex-Mex and shouldn't be confused with authentic Mexican food. That being said the food is always fresh and fast. Sanaullah is not at all pleased with this location. I am always greeted by slime ball say "my fren my fren" and then rob me of good chikon that I pay the money for. His partner work there she is very stingy with sour cream sauce. She will try to push the red salsa that nobody besides Radislav my cousin like. This place is fairly near to my job and I've always ordered through grubhub and I've never had an issue. The food is well priced and the delivery is quick. The only issue I've had is that the portions could be a little larger but I guess it makes sense for the low prices. I've never actually been to the restaurant but might check it out sometime soon to see if the portion sizes are different. I'm vegan, so there are lots of options I cannot eat. I had the veggie combo player and veggie taco. This was the most flavorful veggie Tex-Mex that I have ever eaten. I was extremely fresh, you can taste all of the herbs and it was well cooked, not overdone, soft or wilted. The staff is super kind. I was checking the menu outside and the delivery driver politely invited me in, it's my first time here. The cashier was young, smart, professional and helpful. This is my favorite Tex-Mex eat in and take out restaurant. They have the best Jack Cheese and Steak Quesadillas. The steak is always flavorful and juicy. Ask to have it with lettuce tomato and a little sour cream and make sure to add the little container of salsa on each bite - gives it that extra kick. Also, the tortillas are made fresh on site when you order. The tacos and burritos here are sloppily put together. Rarely will ingredients not spill out all over your plate. The soft taco and burrito shells are too thin, which doesn't help with the spillage situation. The "steak" is tough and barely tastes like beef. But the (ground) "chorizo" soft taco is good if you're in the mood for something really greasy, meaty and spicy. Sort of like a slim jim but wetter and in a taco shell (it's better than it sounds). They do have this relatively cheap "special combo dish" that comes with rice, beans, two soft tortillas, lettuce, tomato, your choice of protein and a can of soda. I use to love this place but I feel so CHEATed tonight. I ordered 1/2 pound of Chicken Fajita, 2 steak fajita, grill chicken combo and a few more things. The 1/2 of chicken fajita was mostly onions that I threw out with 4 slice of peppers and enough meat to only make maybe 4.5 fajita. The steak fajita was ultra small and filled with onions again. Chicken combo was mostly rice. I still can't believed I paid $10.99 for the Chicken Fajita which was mostly onions. At least call and say you ran out of peppers. If you pay for the individual Chicken Fajita it is only $2.09 I could save $$$ and time making it myself. Best Tex-Mex you can find in this area. Lets get this out of the way now. No it's not authentic mexican, no it's not going to be healthy, and yes they are Chinese. This review is based on the quality of the food, not their ethnicity. They make really good quesadillas and taco salads. They use a different blend of spices for their chicken which sets it apart from other tex-mex restaurants. They don't use corn tortillas, but the white flour tortillas for their soft tacos. Their lunch combo portions are really big and can be shared by two people. I personally recommend anything with their chicken. Taco/Burrito/Quesadilla/Salad Bowl. What i love about ordering from here is that If you order once, they'll have you in their system so as long as you call from the same number they'll know your address and you won't have to repeat it the next time. If you want authentic mexican, walk over or take the train 2 stops to 71st continental and go to the mexican truck. I usually don't write bad reviews, but after eating their chicken combo tonight, I am literally sick to my stomach. Since I was working from home today and didn't want to step out to grab anything, I figured I'd order from this Mexican place I have been seeing down the street from me. I was starving so I sorted my Seamless options by closest distance, and this is one of the top 5. After I placed my order, an hour goes by. I called and asked about the status of the order. Like another reviewer on Seamless mentioned, the lady tells me, "he left." I quickly asked, "how long ago?" She says, "I don't know, maybe 5-8 mins." I then thanked her and hung up the phone. Ten minutes later, still nothing. I could have walked there and back by now. Mind you, I am no longer hungry because an hour has gone by. I have totally forgotten about my meal by now until I heard a doorbell. Needless to say, I got yelled at over the phone, received my food half an hour past estimated delivery time (that is, over an hour from ordering), and got food poisoning as a result of all this.
