8.5/10 Birria has been a recent discovery for me in the past 5 years and spots serving this delicious meal has been popping up slowly throughout San Diego and this is one them. It's a new food truck that shares the same parking lot as the American legion and is hard to miss because it is at the corner of a busy Linda Vista intersection that can either take you down to university city, USD, or convoy. The best birria tacos I ever had was at a food truck near LAX. I dream about it every night and have been on the hunt for the best birria tacos in San Diego ever since. I'm glad that Birria Spot had a pretty big selection. Tacos, mulitas, quesadilas and even fries! I ended up just going with the good old birria tacos. The consome you have to buy separately. The service was friendly and tables were very clean. The only reason I can't give them 10/10 is because the tortilla was on the stale side and meat was also a little dry. Thankfully the consome and the hot sauces on the side help it be a little more moist. It still doesn't beat the ones I had in LA and I think El Viejon's birria tacos is by far my favorite in San Diego but for the convenience and decent pricing I would definitely come here again for a quick treat. read more

This place is definitely a toss up. They have their hood and bad days (well not really bad but just lacking) On good days 5/5 for food. On bad days 2/5 on food. Birria tacos lack flavor some days and sometimes just really good and makes you wanna make room for more. Birria ramen 5/5: My wife loves their Birria ramen and always has to have it when we go together. Birria pizza 5/5: Only had it once and that time, they made it really good!!! This place is in my top favorite birria spots, especially because of their birria fries! An excellent option in Linda Vista if you're in the area and don't feel like driving super far for a legit birria experience. We ordered the quesabirria tacos and birria fries. YUM. The tortillas for the tacos were perfection. Not soggy at all, not overly crunchy where they break, but the ideal texture of chewy and crispy. Held all the juicy meats in. And the consomé was a great balance of flavors to dip the tacos in. The fries were SO GOOD. I'm not usually one to order fries, but wow I could go to town on these! So much quesa fresca and tasty birria together, all the toppings and sauces, ugh so good. Every bite was covered with the fixins. Overall, love this place and glad I ate here. This is a SECRET gem in San Diego. Literally one of the best quesadillas I've had in a LONG time. The meat is extremely tender and melts in your mouth, which pairs really well with the slightly crisp exterior. I loved this food truck!! Im always looking for more birria places and im so glad to have seen this one! I believe their hours first said they close around 6 or 7 but we called and they were open later! Staff were very friendly and our food came out quickly! We got the quesataco and rolled taco. Both were excellent!! Quesataco isn't the best i've ever had but I still enjoyed it. Rolled tacos were SO GOOD though. Was probably my favorite item! The seating it all standing seating, but there was plenty! I believe they are mostly in the parking lot in Linda Vista, but theres lots of parking and its very accessible! Soo good ! I used to go down to San Ysidro just for Birria tacos, and I'm soo happy that the is truck popped up in Linda Vista. The guy warned me about the Quesabirria size and I still went for it- a slice in, I was stuffed ! Very great, sufficing portions and friendly customer service. Was looking to grab some quick takeout mexican and came across this spot right off the 163 and gennesse. Its a food truck semi permanently parked on the American legion parking lot on the corner. Menu is limited, even more so when they told me thier fryer was down. So I ordered 2 tacos and the quesadilla. Total with tax and tip was $20. This better be some dam goood birria for that price. Took a seat while waiting for my food, they have a few bar tops with high chairs scattered under a pop up awning as well as a 2 tables with 4 chairs set up. Not too long later they brought out my food telling me that the hot sauce was also in there. Got home and opened up the bag and was immediately disappointed in the portion sizes. Even the hot sauce they included was underwhelming. It was first time I had gotten hot sauce in baggies like I was buying some drugs. Reminded me of baggies of crack you see on tv and in movies being sold o the streets. Pretty funny until you realize this is no where near enough sauce for a meal. I first tried the taco, with the red hot sauce. The taco was good, good tasting birria and fresh onions and cilantro, and a nice tasting tortilla. The hot sauce didn't even last a single taco. Up next is the quesadilla. This was the highlight of my meal. Cheesy meaty goodness, this was worth the $10 price tag. Plenty of cheese, plenty of meat, great flavor. Overall good food but the portion size is a little off for the price. Definitely ask for more hot sauce. 2 dime bags isn't enough. read more
