My company paid for lunch so we got to try this food truck and it was ok. I like the idea of Abuelita style cooking but I am not sure if this was authentic or not. The only choice that day for us was a 3 taco plate with beans and rice on side. He said the beans and rice had no lard so that was good. The protein options were carne asada, chicken, pork, or mushroom but no mix or match. the taste was ok, not bad, but not great, just ok. Chicken had decent flavor. This Mexican food truck was parked outside my school, and at first I was hesitant to try it, but when you see a truck full of stickers you know it will be authentic. I overheard them talking with another costumer and they stated they were from Tijuana, Baja CA. I decided to give it a try and it was absolutely delicious. The bread was so fresh as if they had just baked it right then and there. The way they crisp the bread was perfection and the wide variety of flavors in one sandwich was shocking. I got the steak carne asada and adabado torta. The two who were working were welcoming and helpful when deciding what to order. They have Quesadillas, tacos, tortsa and all the goodies. You can tell there food was made with love, and the meat to bread ratio was just right. There salsa was so spicy and hit the spot. There prices are super reasonable. The food also tasted clean and could tell their food was handled properly :) Highly recommend if you see them in the area. read more

I went to this truck to inquire how much a torta would be and it ended up in an attempt to overcharge and a racist passive aggressive comment. I approached the truck excited and hungry and asked, "how much for a torta?" the man from behind the window says, "$16" and I exclaimed, "$16?" He then replied, "well not pesos" and I offended turned to leave. I am a Latina so I found this comment to be very stereotyping and intentional or not, I believe it was an inappropriate and poor reaction to my surprise at a torta being $16. What confuses me is that I looked on Grubhub to confirm the high price for a singular torta and to my surprise it was priced at $8 for the same taco truck! I am confused and slightly hurt from the interaction because I can't imagine what I did to offend this man to the point where he attempted to double charge me for a torta. Three letters. Wow!!! After a fun night out, we decided to hit this food truck. Food trucks can be hit or miss, but this truck is 100 percent a hit! The employee was very engaging and noticing my accent and we started joking around. I placed my order for two adaboda tacos. They were bigger than I thought and filled with meat and full of flavor. The price of food at food trucks is not great. We ordered two small tacos and a "burrito" (it was honestly just one small tortilla rolled up) for around $16. That's pretty expensive for this part of Chula Vista. We ordered food because it was conveniently located outside the Chula Vista Brewery. I'm not sure what we intended, perhaps for our order to suffice as dinner or a snack? But we were definitely hungry afterwards. The food was so/so, the price was not appealing for the amount of food but there were no walkable alternatives. So first of all the food is good. My gripe and the reason for a review is because when I went to the truck this week, the menu only said "fish, ceviche or steak". As my wife is a vegetarian and we were required to have food due to covid (which is fine), I asked if there was any vegetarian options. After blowing his nose into a napkin around the food and not having a mask (I'm not expecting much from a food truck), he said "No. Just fish/ceviche/steak". I asked for maybe just chips and salsa.. he said no. I would've even taken a tostada with avocado ffs (he had the ingredients).. As I was required to pay before ordering (covid rules) I was kinda stuck. I had the ceviche and ate my wife's taco (lol) as she couldn't. Literally 90 seconds later, a woman from my table went and got food too. She came back with CHIPS AND SALSA!! Like wtf.. he even delivered it to the table (I had to go get mine) and he didn't say jack like "yeah sorry, guess we did have chips n salsa" I rarely write reviews but this shtt pissed me off. Last weekend I got the opportunity to try out this Mexican Food Truck. The truck is super cute with it's decor and lighting which is eye catching. There was a variety of food options here and I was tempted to try their tortas, but ended up going for their "$5 Asada Burrito". This burrito is so small when you compare it to taco shops it looks like that's it!? It did taste good though, but definitely a bit over priced it felt like a small hand held burro cut in half. Veggie Delight! Officially on my top 5 food trucks. The menu was a bit small. I'm not sure if they change it up, but I get the sense that it does. Which is awesome. *Vegans & Vegetarians* They had one vegan option on the menu when I went, but when we asked the chef if he could make us some vegetarian options and he was more than ok with it. Asked us what we liked and went from there. He even asked if cheese was ok. Kickass service. We ended up with a torta and a quesadilla and guacamole on the side. The bread was warm and toasty and oh so fresh. There was roasted cauliflower, melted cheeses (I believe Oaxaca cheese and cotija), onions, avocado and tomato. The red salsa that came with our food was beautiful. Slightly roasted, but fresh tasting and reminiscent of my dads. Loved it. Could eat 100 more right now. Simple, but full of flavor. My bf loved his veggie quesadilla too. The portions are on the small side. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but if you're super hungry, order more things or just save this for a lighter day. Hello, normally don't post reviews. Had a pretty bad experience with this food truck the other night. They didn't have prices posted on their chalk board, asked how much everything was, the lady taking orders just listed what they had, not how much things were. I ended up getting brisket torta. She said that would be 10$. Thought it was a bit high but didn't mind if it was good. Handed over my card and signed didn't thing much of it. Torta has crunchy bits in it bone/cartilage. The brisket muscle doesn't have bone or cartilage, so I don't think it was brisket. In the end I see my statement of $12.38, this is way more than the 7.75% sales tax. Looks like the lady taking order graver herself a 15% tip or something (adds up to 12.38. Just wanted to give my experience, make sure you ask how much things are and if they are including anything else in the transaction. read more

Due to Covid, our office halted having catering style lunches. We were excited to have Corazón de Torta for lunch recently, although several issues arose day of. The menu variety they had listed on the front of their truck did not reflect what they actually had available. They did not have any vegetarian items available, just measly chips and salsa. The guy taking orders was rude and did not seem to care, and had a take it or leave it attitude. After waiting around for 30 minutes to get my order, the torta roll itself was over toasted and there was hardly any meat. To top it off, the main guy taking orders near the cook had his mask off. Being as my office is a medical office, myself along with other people from my office did not feel comfortable eating, so we unfortunately had to toss our meals. I usually don't like to base my reviews on customer service and let the food do the talking, but places like this don't deserve to be in business. read more

I showed up three nights ago and did not use my tickets because we were getting close to closing time and I was told I could bring them back another night. Here I am tonight, and he told me that there's no way I can use those tickets. Basically, I wasted $15 for nothing. Also, he told me the only thing he has is cold tostadas because he did not want to fire up the grill because it was too hot. He did not even care to try and talk to me about anything. Carne Asada torta was good and stuffed with lots of meat. On a side note: the carne was more on the dry side and was mixed with some burnt pieces of meat which gave it a lot of bbq grilled flavor. Overall the carne was a 4/5 just as my rating. Ordered from the truck by Three Punk Ales Brewery in Chula Vista 3rd Ave and it wasn't busy so my wait time was around 7-8 minutes max. Also got a taco but it only had one tortilla and kind of got mushy with all the steak and guac. The salsa was flavorful yet spicy but I would have liked more than just one salsa when ordering a torta and taco for the whopping price of around $16. Most expensive Mexican food lunch truck I have ever eaten at, but I guess I would eat at it again if need be. Tip to the business. Try slicing the torta down the middle when serving to the customer. Stopped by this truck outside the Fall Brewing company last night to munch. Got two $7 burritos and was extremely disappointed to find that "mushroom burrito" and "cauliflower mole" mean "mushrooms in a tortilla" and "cauliflower in a tortilla with mole sauce". That's it. Nothing else. For $7. And they were tiny. And the flavor wasn't very good. The tortillas were tasty but that's it. Wish I could get my money back, but I was already home. When you order a burrito for 8$ you expect a meal that will fill you up. This is not the case with Corazon de Torta. The burrito tortilla was burned and took about 3 bites to eat. My brother mentioned the small portion to one of the servers and the guy decided to give us a lecture about the word burrito and how "ito" means small. Real unprofessional. Just tried this place yesterday. I read a few of these reviews and yes when I ordered the burrito I almost panicked. Being use to these monstrosities we call "super burritos," I was shocked to see what seemed like a a large taco. There were other food truck options and I chose this?? I got had! BUT ALL OF THAT CHANGED WHEN I TOOK THE FIRST BITE. The tortilla was perfectly crafted, the carne asada was masterfully marinated, and of course that little crunch from onions and cilantro is always a welcomed topping. Oh my goodness did I come to my senses- you really don't need those bean and rice fillers it the two main pieces of a burrito are absolutely perfected. Finally, as I was in awe of this awesome piece of food, I looked up and read their truck again "authentic abuelita Mexican." They're sticking true to their slogan. That's exactly what this burrito is! To make a long story longer, everyone else at my table (who first opted for pizza) all got up and ordered a burrito from here after they tried mine :). read more
