They were just awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand award this week for their excellent, affordable food. One thing that I appreciate about their tacos is that their meats have varied textures. The costilla (rib meat) is a crowd pleaser as you get the taste of the grill/charcoal. They have tripe that is crispy with corn nut texture. Cabeza (face meat) has a stewed texture. Unlike most places in LB, there is two hours free parking conveniently located across the street at the Harvey Milk Community Lot. This is easily one of the best options for tacos in Long Beach and, if you haven't had it yet, then you really should! This is the type of place that we need to support!

We ordered caramelos with the poblanos inside, as well as their horchata. Tortillas are some of the best I've had. Super soft and flavorful from the grill. The fillings and salsa were good too, but it was really wet, and the bean ratio especially compared to the meat, was a little off. Always am going to want more meat. Horchata was unique since it was coconut based. Overall solid spot with patient staff. Tacos La Rueda is still better, but will be back when in Long Beach.

The staff has become so familiar with our family and even our youngest kiddo's order. Aside from the friendly service, our absolute favorite thing about this place is how they keep the menu fresh. They feature new items every so often, so there's always an excuse to try something different. Yesterday, we tried their featured Thai taco, and it was easily the best taco we've ever had here. The employee who took our order had a very negative and dismissive attitude toward us from the start. It made the entire interaction uncomfortable and honestly took away from what could have been a good dining experience. I'm not sure what the reason for the attitude was, but as a Black couple we couldn't help but feel unwelcome based on how we were treated. Customer service matters just as much as the food, and no one should feel uncomfortable when spending their money at a business. Because of the way we were treated, we won't be returning. Hopefully management takes feedback like this seriously and works on improving the customer service experience for everyone.

We waited for over 15 min and when I went up to ask again, they realized they had forgotten about us and hadn't made our correct order so we decided to leave it and just go. Regardless of that hiccup, the staff were very friendly and they were apologetic about the situation. I would come back for sure and give it another try. The Boyle heights location has always been on top of it and I've never experienced a bad visit so I wouldn't say this location is bad off of one visit. The space is small and has inside and outside seating. We tried to eat outside but that bigger party took up a lot of the seats out there. They have a beautiful mural inside too and we luckily got a table. Overall, guisados is a must and I'm happy there's a location closer to me now.
