I recently rented Disney characters from Birthday Party Characters, and they were absolutely fantastic! The performers truly brought the magic to life, staying in character the entire with balloons magic tricks ( Mickey ) & mannerisms, and energy that kept the kids (and adults) completely mesmerized. You made my son's 5th birthday memorable. The kids loved it!! I did all my communication via text with Carlos and paid online - which is great for this busy mom!! (Who talks on the phone per reviews)? he was upfront with costs to travel to Southbay. We had a small group of kids so an hour was plenty. staff came first to check out our yard and he did balloons first with the kids. Then he changed into Mickey , surprised the kids, gigging with the kids, and played several games! He asked if we wanted to sing and cut the cake before he left. Shady. Prices were not as advertised and communication was poor - no one picked up phone they only texted or emailed. We celebrated our son's 3rd birthday at an indoor play area in Concord. We're so happy that we booked our party characters with them. There were a few that I had contacted for quotes and they were 1) the quickest to respond and 2) very easy to work with. It was not at all a complicated process, and they answered every single one of my questions, along with a response to see photos of the costumes of the characters we wanted, Chase & Skye of the Paw Patrol. The character entertainers were great. They arrived early and were professional and communicative from start to finish. All the activities they led, from doing dances, leading a conga line, parachute activities, the limbo, and balloon twisting, were very fun for the kids and even some adults joined in. With our program of activities in the hour we booked with them, they were flexible as well, making sure they were at the cake cutting table and the photo backdrop when we needed them to, and they let us know what they planned on doing, so we could work together on the sequence of events. I'm all about communication, and from planning to booking to the actual "showtime", it was all great. Next time we have a need for some party entertainment or are asked for a referral, they'll be on the top of our list. read more

Our experience with this company was terrific! First we decided on Buzz and Woody but later changed to the Minions per request by the kids. The company didn't give us any hassle at all regarding the change and were very supportive. Priced just right and the characters did great! I was skeptical because they had so many characters to choose from but I didn't have a problem when booking they had the character I was looking for. We booked the $195 package (3 activities) for my daughter's B'Day party. The character for our party called and confirmed the day before the party and I gave her a count of kids I was expecting. But when she arrived, she said that there were too many kids and that she would have to limit to 2 activities instead of 3. That was a bummer. Especially because there were lesser kids than we expected and even those that did come were too young to be entertained/face painted. But there were a few adults who got their face painted-that's probably why. We hired a Pikachu character for our daughter 6th birthday party, the experience was wonderful. They hold 50% deposit for booking which is fair. Confirmed via email upon booking and a day before the event they sent a text to let you know what they plan to do for the day, show up 10 min before, sneak in to hide the mascot first, then provided balloon twisting or face painting depending on how long is the booking for, about half an hour before the end, they would sneak out to change into the mascot and came back to surprise the kids. Picture, cake singing and some fun games after. For one booking with one person, you can get it all so it actually save money. Great service, would definitely use again. read more

Highly recommend. Used them for my sons 4 year old party at our house near Camarillo, CA. Booked thru the website, super convenient which is awesome for busy parents. Very easy to work with. We had to move the date of the party due to the birthday boy getting sick and they did it quickly with no issue. We LOVED our race car driver. He was amazing with the kids and absolute highlight of the party. His ability to adjust to different ages and needs and engage all the kids was wonderful, he had amazing energy! My son, who is normally extremely introverted and takes weeks to warm up to anyone, had a blast with him and is still talking about him days later, and wants to have him back again. We Celebrated my son's 2nd Birthday on February 10th, 2013...my son loves Sesame Street Characters as well as Caillou! I had done a lot of research for the best places that have costume characters...and found Birthday Party Characters. The person whom I initially spoke with (Nomi) over the phone was very helpful. He clearly explained the pricing, the activities each characters does, etc...because of his professionalism I hired the company for my son's birthday. The characters (Elmo, Cookie Monster, Cailou) and the MC (Jim) arrived on time and were very professional and friendly with me and all my guests. In the beginning of the party we had face painting, balloon twisting and of course music....after a short time the characters changed into the actual costumes and came into the party. Once they arrived the kids and adults could not believe how amzing their costumes looked and how nice and friendly they were with each child. Jim (the MC) was fantastic in organizing the show....without his magic show the songs, the games, etc....the party would not have been the same. He is truly a great talent. I loved his friendly attitude with the kids and adults. He is AMAZING!!! The characters were gracious enough to take pictures with all the guests (100)...Kids and adults!!! I scheduled a hello kitty character for my daughters special 1st birthday party with this company. Although the woman who arrived was very pleasant, the character outfit was so worn out that the colors were extremely faded. The face painting material was so cheap that you could barely see the colors on the childrens skin. In addition, the outfit was sloppy and not ironed. The character looked as if she just rolled out of bed. It definitely was not the character, the manager Carlos , promoted when he emailed me the sample picture. To make matters worse, I have sent two emails to Carlos who is ignoring me. Had he been more professional as he appeared during our initial contacts, I probably would not be writing this review. I had 120 guests at this formal event and I was extremely disappointed and embarrassed. Be careful! read more

We hired Michaelangelo-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and he was a HIT. We had around 40 kids show up when we expected less, but he was SO patient! He (Steve) was so great with the children and had a lot of patience. He was also in character: Cowabunga, Pizza and fun was on his list of words! We are extremely satisfied with the entertainment that we received. He played games, made balloon animals and was super fun. We can't wait to book again. We had buzz and woody come to Lucille Packard children's hospital to visit our son who was turning 4. My son was so thrilled to have the "real" buzz and woody make a special visit to see him. The young men who played the characters were on time, polite, professional, appropriate for hospital setting. They brought their own sound system for happy bday, hokey pokey and Itsy bitsy spider. They let all kids and parents take photos with them which were over 20 pics as guests loved photo op. I definitely recommend them! Great experience! read more

We had a super duper character probably the best I have ever hired from any company last Sunday. I have used their services couple times already. They are the best. We had a Star Wars party last Sunday jan 13 and we requested the sincere manager Mr Carlos Hernandez for suggestions. He suggested Jedi master since they had a great guy who could keep the kids on their best spirits. We were very happy with Mr Ben who seems to be a very superior actor himself and kept the party alive. He was able to successfully manage and create fun games and training as Jedi for thirty plus highly energetic kids. The parents felt very much at ease with his games. And watched with great delight from a distance while enjoying the foods and drinks. He did so much in an hour without any injury to the kids. Ben began the Jedi training with an Oath that all kids will learn to master good over evil today. I found that really creative. He made them do fun exercise stuff , barrier games, saber light wars individually with each kids. He concluded by giving small medals to all participants and a little cute trophy to the bday boy. I will like to thank Ben for making this party the most memorable. As a note coincidentally just before Jedi was to enter my son got sick. But after seeing him he forgot his sick day and enjoyed till the last. He took good care of all kids. He also informed us that he can enact any superhero character. That's s bonus. If you are booking a character for your party you will not be disappointed with this company. I thank Mr Hernandez for being the honest dedicated manager so far. I can't wait to book Ben for my sons next party. Make sure you book them in advance and discuss all details with Carlos to get the best. My hubby was so happy that he gave a great tip to Ben. I have used Birthday Party Characters twice so far two years in a row for my son and daughters birthday parties and plan on using them again this year. Both times we had the best experience. The first time with Spider Man and second time with Princess Tiana. With spider man he showed up on time and took over the party the kids loved him and my son was so excited. He played games with the kids, face painting and even stayed for the cake cutting. My daughter Princess Tiana party was wonderful as well and on timel. We had her party at Griffith Park which is easy to get lost in our original area was over crowded so we decided to move to another area of the park which required a drive. Tiana had no problem meeting us at the other side of the park! The kids loved her and she made my daughters birthday party magical. This company is professional and friendly! They charge $95.00 deposit at booking and you pay the rest to the performer when they arrive. (That's for the smaller package deal) Hands down the best company around!!! read more

I've hired these guys to perform at my children's birthday parties for the past two years. These guys are super professional with their work. I asked them to arrive at my party at 11 and they arrived at 10:30 and were ready to start their performance at 10:45! They kept the kids entertained and interacted with them. I have tried other performers in previous years, but their costumes disappoint me. These guys' costumes are of the highest quality, which is a plus! My son 1st party was 4-12-14. The girl showed up like 45 mins late, came in a Mickey Mouse costume that was yellow light blue and white, instead of what was advertised on the website( red black and white) , the whole time all she did was blow up the sculpture balloons for the kids when it said I would get face painting, magic, games, come out to the theme song, and greet the kids. NONE OF THAT WAS DONE! Then the Mickey had ponytails coming from the mascot need I remind you this is a boys party ! Had I know there wouldn't be any game I would of bought games for the kids to play! I decided I was going to call the company and the guy answered the phone and it didn't sound professional in the background, kids yelling. I called just to let them know the quality of service I received and hopefully get refunded some kind of portion of my money, but more focused on letting them know how bad things were. The guy cut me off in the middle of me speaking and asked " wait why are you calling 2 weeks later to tell me about this?" Which left me wide eyed! I replied " Refund or not I feel like you should know how thigs are being ran and hopefully fix the situation so no one else will call complaining! And I told him how everything went and all he had to say really was you should of read the website and it would have told you the costume varies from performer. I asked where on the website did it state this because I was unaware and would of searched elsewhere that could accodimate to the theme of the party. He replied well I don't know exactly where but I guess under the terms and conditions and Mickey is Mickey regardless or what colors ! I was shocked! He has bad people skills and doesn't care about customer satisfaction. And as far as the refund he asked if I paid the performer , which I did and he stated Oh well you should have took it out of their money so I can't help you we are based out of California ( I'm in Texas) so there's nothing I can do about it. But I was so irritated about how careless he was about the situation I had to get off the phone and just tell him to have a nice day because instaead of being understanding or trying to real over the situation he looked for every other place to place the blame on someone or something else! I had to keep telling him I could care less about not getting a refund it's just the fact that I spent so much money to not get what was advertised! And then to be treated rude when I was just trying toesve feedback. I saw reviews on Google when people said he was rude but ignored it and once I paid my deposit none of my calls were answered or returned until the day of the party when someone texted me stating the performer was going to be late and gave me get name and contact information! This company is not customer friendly and their only concern is getting their " cut" even if you're satisfied or not! So for those who may use this Company in the future BEWARE and read the fine print! And if the performance doesn't go as it states deduct it from the money you give to them after their show time is completed.
