Big fan of their Allentown branch from my Penn State days, so while heading back from Peddler's Village, we took a small detour to try their new outlet in New Jersey. Since it was around 5 PM, we decided to parcel our order. We ordered their famous mutton dum biryani. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a hit-or-miss experience. It felt like we were served an older batch -- the mutton pieces were dry and rubbery, and the rice lacked freshness. I know they are capable of making really good biryani, but consistency is what matters most. If the food isn't fresh, then don't pass it to us. Ambience was quite catchy -- a bright orange theme, a large restaurant space, ample parking, and clean restrooms. Overall: Disappointing this time, mainly due to lack of freshness. read more

Easily one of my favorite restaurants in Jersey. Have been here a few times and the food and service has been consistently good. My most favorite dishes here: Paneer Majestic, Baby corn Majestic, Soya Chaap Tikka, Kerala Parotta, Filter Coffee This time around we ordered their weekend special - Hakka Noodles which reminded me of the street style noodles we eat back in India. Their Zero Spice dish was 3x spicier than the multiple Mild dishes. Why offer different spice levels if you can't cook them correctly?!?

I have returned as I promised in my first review. The dishes I chose tonight were Shrimp Majestic, Mixed Vegetable Kurmo, and Onion Kulcho. The Onion Kulcho was a nice flatbread with spices baked into it, tasty addition to the Mixed Veggie Kurmo which is now one of my favorite dishes of all time. Coupled with the Onion bread made each bite rich and flavorful. The Shrimp Majestic is amazing. Also a top ten choice I will absolutely enjoy again. I love spicy foods. I was only so adventurous settling on American Spicy. Yes, Biryani City lets you choose the spice level. While everything was amazing next time I'm going with Indian Spicy. I ordered delivery and used GrubHub and everything came nicely packaged. I'm in a wheelchair so I needed them to deliver to my door and they handled that wonderfully. Because I did delivery I can't comment on the restaurants decor or cleanliness but I am committed to visit them as soon as I'm back walking & driving. One thing I'll say is Biryani City makes incredibly flavorful dishes. I strongly recommend trying them out. If you're like me, you'll become a regular customer. great selection of north indian dishes. one that i really enjoyed was the egg biryani, with lots of half-cut eggs, flavorful rice, and a warm spice to it. they have an option where you control the level of spices, and i think it's very helpful, especially for someone like me who eats a medium level of spice. there's a lot of room for variation in the spice level, which is a great system to have. i absolutely love the baby corn manchurian appetizer, it had a nice crunch and was a very large serving size. i definitely recommend checking out the spot. i will mention they have a lot of takeout orders, so it is a bit confusing when you get there to figure out where to wait to be seated, but otherwise it was very smooth. my food was ready in maybe 30 minutes or so, and the inside of the restaurant has an upscale feel. read more

He also gave good recommendations, all of which were great. The biryani tasted perfect with a special mention about the tender and flavorful meat. The goat pepper fry was a good appetizer, which was recommended by the owner. It was a busy afternoon and service was a bit slow. I am rating this place as four stars BUT only if you like spicy food. They offer ten spice levels - mild American, medium American, spicy American, mild Indian, etc. My wife was uncomfortable even at the lowest spice level. I thought that medium American has OK. But we will not be back. We stopped here as a friend recommended and told us that there can be lines out the door in the evening. We stopped by for lunch on a Thursday and the place was very quiet. Two tables. All food is ala carte, no buffet. Service was a little slow. Food was decent except for the spice level. We shared a plain naan, allo gobi, chicken tikka masala and a chicken biryani. I was not impressed with the biryani as it was two layers of rice plus a layer of the meat or veg of your choice served as a timbale and accompanied by two sauces on the side. Looks pretty but did not taste special. The dining room is very pretty. Interesting lighting. Table tops are translucent and change colors - barely noticeable on a bright sunny day but may impress in the evening. Background music was "smooth jazz". I would have appreciated something more exotic. Server had a thick Indian accent and although very nice, she was sometimes difficult to understand. Took a while to clear our plates at the end. So you will enjoy this place if you like spicy food. Seems to be popular with local Indian people which makes sense. Prices are reasonable. read more

For the past few years we celebrate Diwalu with colleagues by going to an Indian restsurant. We were a party of 15. Our table was ready when we arrived. We ordered appetizers and our meal and it was served family style. Service was good. We had to ask for wine glasses and water glasses. They had a robot who brought out the dishes. It was really cool. You can become a decent establishment with modest effort but to be a really discerning place, you need to dial-in with the patron empathy extra hard. After waiting for good 40m, two of us were finally seated. However, the host, knowingly set us up with broken seating. The backrest was shared between two tables and the party on the other side (three adult patrons) kept pushing back as if the seats were flatbed of a business class flight. Totally disregard for short term profits. Equipment malfunctions all the time but (a) seating us knowing the back rest was broken and (b) showing wanton disregard for our discomfort demonstrated apathy. Just appalled by their brazen attitude - clearly, it was a matter of math over their reputation. I don't see disrespecting myself by giving them another chance to show apathy. Never again! read more

If you love Indian food, this place is definitely for you! Gets packed even on weeknights so keep that in mind and they don't take reservations for my understanding. We called an hour and an ahead to get a table and they said by the time we come a table would be ready, but we were waiting there for 30 minutes before a table is ready. The options here are delicious and endless! We had to stop ourselves from ordering everything off the menu. Everything was made to order, hot and fresh. Make sure you pick the right spicy level, the staff is great at explaining them and making sure you are happy with what you ordered. The restaurants itself is like nothing I've seen before, color changing tables, funky seats and plates. Definitely an interesting lay out for an Indian food restaurant. My top two favorite dishes were definitely the chicken, lollipops and butter chicken. We left overs for the next 3 days and everything was still amazing reheated at home. Not many places can say that their food tastes great after 3 days in the fridge! Will definitely be back with a bigger group, the portions are huge and meant for more than 2 people. read more

The food was the best! They offer a large variety of spices for all different preferences ranging from American Mild to Indian Spicy. They also have a large variety of different foods to offer- vegetarian and meat, spicy and buttery and sweet. The waitress was very kind and patient with us. This was our first time at Biryani City since it opened so we ordered a few staples to test it out. Food: the samosa were really good. The pastry was crispy and the filling had a nice spice to it. The butter chicken was a lot sweeter than we're used to. It was good but I wish it was more savory than sweet. The shrimp join the korma was cooked perfectly but the sauce was fairly greasy. The crazy for this dish was also a bit different than I was used to as it was really heavy in the garlic. Service: the manager (or owner? Not sure) came over to our table a few times to chat with us. He was extremely nice and shared more about the business with us. We appreciated his hospitality. Ambiance: the restaurant is really nice on the inside with very bright decor. They have a party hall on the other side as well. Value: some of the dishes were $2-$3 pricier than our usual spot. However, they have a great lunch deal that ranges from $11-$13. I got the malai kofta, garlic naan and chefs special naan. I thought the malai kofta was great! I felt like the food here was really authentic, and you can taste the garlic and ginger coming through in the curry. The chefs special naan was really good, and I thought it went well with the malai kofta. I felt like the garlic naan was a bit dry and it didn't have as much garlic as I would've wanted. I ordered food through DoorDash and picked it up in the restaurant, and when I parked I noticed how full the lot was! I think every table was occupied in the restaurant. I knew I was getting good food just based on that. I did however take a star off because I had to wait nearly an hour for my food. I took off another star because I felt like the take out portion was a bit small, and I ordered it in Indian Medium spice but I felt like it was extremely mild. The chefs special naan ended up being spicier than the malai kofta! Even though I didn't have the best experience with the food today, I think I'd give this restaurant another chance. They have a huge menu and a lot of vegetarian options, and I'm sure the other items on the menu would be really tasty! read more

After hearing one great review after another, I was eager to try a new place for some good Indian food. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed. The positives - my food was ready right on time for pick up. The Malai Kofta was delicious. I like how many levels of heat you can choose from. The negatives - the chicken in my Tikka Masala was overcooked. I could tell just by the difficulty I had cutting into it and sure enough it was. Also, the amount of chicken in the dish was disappointing. Very little chicken, some huge pieces of pepper (I thought were chicken at first) and tons of sauce. This is a nice well decorated place on Falcon road. The ambiance is great and there is plenty of parking, so pretty easy to get to. We went on a Saturday evening, so we were expecting service to be spotty, but it was acceptable. All said a nice looking place. We ordered the chicken tikka masala, and a paneer masala, along with a grilled chicken, with Naan. The paneer and chicken masala were really bad, you could see that the gravy had been pre assembled and that it was stale. The chicken was really dry and tough, and was undercooked.
